I'm a cake decorator and like alot of us a foodie. I'm already back to doing cakes and sweets. This morning I woke up and decided to make eclairs. Also have a baby shower cake due on Friday. Then there's real food. My huge family is getting dinners at least from me. On Saturday is my hubby's bday so we are throwing him a BBQ/ bday party. I'll be cooking that day and for Sunday game day food. I figure there will always be temptations around so I may as well figure out how to deal with them. Hasn't been as bad as I would have thought. Maybe because I'm only a week out, but I hope it will become a habit. Once I can eat normal food again is when the real challenge will begin.

I get to advance my diet to full liquids today! So ready for something other than chicken broth. I was sleeved on the 9th and have had zero problems so far, so I have my fingers crossed that I will make this transition smoothly. Never thought runny cream of wheat Cereal would be so appealing haha!

Sleeved on the 9th. Down 10lbs since then but wondering if I'm going to keep losing at that rate now that I've added full liquids in. It seemed much easier to get all my fluids in when I was only drinking clears. Now that I need to accommodate 64 oz clear plus the Protein Shakes and Soups its more of a struggle. It seems that the day is a constant sip sip sip but not hungry at all. Some sort of weird alternate universe I've been transported into.

For every horror story I bet there are a couple good outcome stories. I read them all before my surgery too, but kinda decided that its much like women telling their bad labor stories. Nobody tells the easy labor stories right? I was sleeved last Wednesday and have had zero problems. No gas pains after surgery. When the nurse asked me to get up and walk I said sure, hopped out of bed and headed down the hallway. She had to tell me to slow down lol. I haven't had any nausea, am able to easily get my fluids in every day. I asked for pain meds the day of surgery but by that night I asked for Tylenol only and haven't even taken that since I got home. I am so happy that none of the issues others have posted about have happened to me, but really I'm glad I read about those what ifs because I felt better prepared to deal with them. It's a scary thing we are doing to ourselves but in my opinion so worth it in the end. I hope your surgery is as uneventful as mine. Good luck to you.

I was sleeved on New Year's Eve! Yes I was in the hospital instead of partying but what I great way to start a new year. I am now 3 weeks post op and I feel A LOT better than the first 2 weeks. Ugh, that was bad. I am on puréed foods. I find it challenging to attend business sit down dinners, etc without all the questions about why I am not eating much.... It's frusturating. Great news I'm down to 207 from 228!

That's awesome thank you and congratulations on your new stomach, hopefully you're doing well. I use to think that wls was a cop out, but after doing so much of my own research and reading up on the info from my dr. its far from it. Thank God for internet . I wish you well on a speedy and healthy recovery and can't wait to read about your updates. God Bless.

Read it all and make an informed decision.
If you researched your surgeon and trust him/her and feel confident about their ability, and if you're educated about what to expect post op there is no reason no to go ahead.
Yes, complications can happen with this and any other surgery, major or minor. They are pretty rare but can always happen to any surgeon at any time. They're accidents - it's the unintentional thing that happens during the procedure, in most cases. Choosing a surgeon of experience and skill minimizes your risk, as does knowing what to expect post op - if any sign or symptom could be a leak so you get it addressed immediately. Following a post op diet to the letter is also important. You should do everything you can possibly do to minimize your own risk and diet is one of the few things you can control.
That said, complications really ARE rare with this surgery. They happen, and you should know that they happen, but for most people the worst thing they experience post op is gas pain or acid reflux. You'll be sore after surgery and that's normal. I hated having to sleep in a recliner, but really, that's a small sacrifice for my sleeve!
Make sure you're reading it all - not just the horror stories but the stories about people that came through fine. We're all here. It's good we can pool our knowledge and experiences for everyone else.
Choosing whether or not to do this is far too personal for me to try to sway you either way. But I can say that it's perfectly normal to have a bit of nervousness and also to wonder if it will work for you. I see people post about it all the time, but after a year of research the only feelings I had prior to surgery were eagerness to be on the other side and frustration that I had to travel so far for my surgeon!
    Good luck whatever you decide,
    ~Cheri

I was automatically given a 4 week work note but i totally could go back to work tomorrow with no problem. I am 4 days out. I had 2 coworkers who had wls recently and both took 6 weeks off. Not exactly sure why. I see my doc on the 18th and will be talking to him about releasing me then.

Ok so finally had surgery yesterday so I can join in the fun!
    Highest weight 268.6
    Surgery weight 228.9
    Goal weight 218.0
I have no idea how fast or slow I'm going to lose right away, so I'm just picking a good number.
So I'm already down to 209.2 so with 8 days to go, I would like to get down to 204. I'm losing fairly slowly so don't want to shoot for the moon.

Finished my last day of work finally! I felt like the hands on the clock were moving so slow! I just want to go to bed so I can wake up and head for the hospital. I'm kinda bummed my check in time was pushed from 6am to 10:30am which means surgery is probably early afternoon. Gonna make for a long day, but by this time tomorrow, I'll be on the other side. Can't wait.

I feel like I'm nesting. Been 'getting prepared' to bring my new sleeve home from the hospital. Except instead of diapers and receiving blankets I'm buying sugar free Jello, gas x, Miralax, bottles and bottles of various Vitamins, etc. I guess getting stuff ready at home is helping keep my nerves kinda settled. Jan 9 won't get here fast enough!

I think the clothing aspect of this journey is absolutely the worst! I just don't know what to buy I know I won't use any of the clothes I buy right now for very long so every time I put something in my cart, I decide against buying and walk out empty handed. At this rate I'm gonna be walking around in my birthday suit!!! Ok so really I have bought 1 track outfit, 1 pr of Capri stretchy pants to sleep in and 1 pr of long yoga pants. My tops are baggy but still pretty much wearable. How soon did folks have to totally get rid of what they already owned? I tried cleaning out my closet yesterday but everything I picked up I talked myself out of getting rid of it. I guess it's a good thing I'm a pack rat cause I have a few items a size smaller than I was wearing. And some of my summer stuff used to fit me really tight so I'm thinking I might still get some use out of them. Sigh.... I don't know. It just stresses me out thinking about it.

I'm down 41 lbs (pre surg) and already my boobs are shrinking. After spending over 5 yrs nursing kids, they were far from perky anyway. My hubby says its ok, just buy a smaller bra, roll them up and stuff them in your bra. Nobody will care when u have clothes on. I love how wonderfully supportive he is.... Lol
