Thanks so much for the tips ladies. My surgery is about 3 weeks from now and it looks like I need to make a run to the store.
I have a question, what kind of bandages are you all referring to? I'm assuming you aren't speaking of bandaids LOL

Started my pre-op Dec 1 at 374lbs. Surgery day 12/14 357lbs. Today, my 1 month weigh in put me at 340 for a total loss of 34lbs gone forever. I'm so excited!

It's been about 5 weeks since my surgery & total weight lost (including 2 week pre-op diet) is 47lbs

Just found this post... I know it is a little old. I am 8.5 months out from surgery with Garcia. Ive lost 168 lbs and am about 16 lbs from a normal bmi. I think a lot of us Mexico sleevers spend oddles of time in the Mexico forum pre op. Post op I dont come back here much and spend most of my time reading and posting in other areas. This maybe why you dont hear much feed back from those of us who had surgey with Garcia. I posted my experience with him and am totally happy. To be honest, I have not followed his post op diet. I do the 600-800 cal/60 + prot/64 oz Water. I dont know if his post op diet would have worked as well as the one I have been following...but it may have. Let me know if you have any questions! I'm a Garcia mexico sleever 7 months out. I have lost 148 lbs (a few of those pre op). I was wearing a 24 and now am in a size 12. I did not follow his post op diet. I didnt really like his plan and needed more rules. I follow the 600 calorie/+60 oz protein/+64 oz fluid/-40 carbs. I have great restriction. A meal for me is 2 oz Protein. Once I had my surgery I dont really go to the Mexico forum any longer. I spend my time looking at the post op/success/diet and nut forum now. That may be the case of alot of Mexico sleevers, including Garcia's. I had a good experience with Garcia and would do it again. I am happy with the results so far!

I am a patient of Dr Garcia's and I still post here quite frequently. I have not posted a before/after though, because I want to wait until I hit the one year mark. So far I have lost 95 pounds, and I look and feel wonderful.

I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on Oct. 30th. As of yesterday, 11/27, I am down 29lbs! I am VERY happy with my results! Dr. Garcia and his staff were wonderful to me. Not sure if it was a "normal" time for me at the hospital, but day one of surgery there was only 1 other patient on the floor and she left the next morning. Then I was there all by myself with my husband for the next day. The hospital was very quiet. Samuel, our driver, on the way back to the airport said that the next day he was picking up 5 more patients... so I'm sure the hospital floor is going to MUCH busier.
An eye mask is a GREAT idea!! They do give you a little care package with mouth swabs, ear plugs and chapstick when you arrive. When I sent to the hotel after surgery, they give you another care package with all your medicaitons, gauze, tape, more mouth swabs, Water, gatorade and an instructions folder for post-op.
Yes, bring neosporin! They will ask you to shower everyday and clean the incision sites. I tired the GasX strips and I can't honestly say they helped me at all... thankfully I had my husband around and he patted me on the back like a baby... LOL!! The first day was the worst with gas pains, then by day 2 it was pretty much gone.
I just wore the hospital gown they gave me for my stay there. They give you two, one for the front and one for the back.
I was really worried about them taking out the drain, but to my delight it did NOT hurt at all!!! They have you take a deep breath and then they pull it out. It felt very weird, but not painful at all. Then they remove the staples from your incisions... I thought that might hurt too, but it did NOT as well. All in all, it was a pretty PAIN FREE experience, except of course the gas and just general aches from surgery.
Samuel the driver that picks you up is a VERY NICE GUY!!!
