  1. Aren't you near a beach? You could do it on firm sand?
  2. Yeah, I'm 4 kilo's off double digits. The last time I was double digit's was at the police academy as a recruit!
  3. I'm on the Northside as well.
  4. If you can walk 10k you will go through the first few weeks quite easy. Will keep you update. Only day two of week one today. One of my girls, 8 years, came out with me today. I really enjoyed it.
  5. Hey guys, On day 2 of C25K, so early days. Just read this thread. Thanks for the added motivation. Deano
  6. Hey Wendy - It's great!! I'm using an app called 'couch-to-5k' It seems like a great app. Tracks your distance and pace. Maps where you've gone. Progresses you every week. And it's easy to use.
  7. Mate, I'll jump over and have a look. I'm really enjoying it, but it is only night 2!! Not too bad so far. One of my daughters came with me tonight. We really enjoyed it. Do you worry about being "hooked" on running and any potential muscle lose?
  8. That's a worry. I hope its ok!
  9. Nice. You must be nailing it now!

Yeah. I think after 10 pages it can be summarised as- 1. People have some valid reasons to not tell who they don't want to tell. 2. People have some valid reasons to tell everyone. 3. People really have difficulty with people not agreeing with their opinion. I think it's item 3. that has really driven this topic.
  11. I think a bit of it is a twisted western culture compliment. Trying to say "you're not THAT bad". When in fact you probably are. Also people are massively adverse to change. So there will be some resistance there too. I lost a large amount of weight 10 years ago. I'd lost about 110 pounds. I was still obese. I still had 60 pounds to lose. I can't tell you the number of people who said "You're not going to lose much more are you??" Don't be offended. Don't take it on. It's about them, not about you. :)

Now that the cat is out of the bag with your family it will be fine. I don't see how anyone could hold any ill will against someone with a heart as big as yours Lisa. I'm sure you'll find in the short term it will be a weight off your shoulders. Some situations I have to admit sound harder for women than men, like the hairdresser one. But I have been in in a similar situation with a bunch of Detectives and SWAT operatives (read massive alpha males) and when asked felt on the spot. It was like swallowing glass answering. They all responded really well. Over time this will be a 'non issue'. Eventually we won't be the fat person now skinny and the questions will stop getting asked. I'm looking forward to that day

Funnily enough, my 8 year old daughter is walking around the house at the moment repeating her line for school mass this morning "Help me not to judge or I myself will be judged by the Lord".

Everyone has their own way. I'm completely open about it, especially if someone asks a direct question. I've only been sleeved last November and I'm happy to say that because of my openness and probably my enthusiasm two people I know are now on their WLS journey. Things happen a lot quicker with WLS in Australia. One of the people is a daughter of a work friend. She had her surgery 3 weeks ago and has decided to keep it a secret from everyone, except me, her mum and her husband. I don't judge her for that decision but I have seen that she's having some issues with maintaining the secret with her in laws. I'm hoping that over time, if the real story comes out, it doesn't damage her relationship with them. She's only young and newly married.
  15. Nothing loses weight and tightens things up like running. If your running 5k 3 or 4 times a week I think you'll smash thru the stall.
  16. Good luck with the pre op. I'm sure you'll be fine. Pretty easy to be super strict for 2 weeks. Deano
  17. You know he'll download the images and keep them in the spank bank.
  18. Disclaimer - that was a joke. I don't condone that type of behaviour, and have several offenders in jail chewing corn for that exact offence.
  19. You a cougar Laura?? Who'd have thought
  20. Reminds me of the time I asked my wife if she wanted to experiment and do a rape role play. She said "%$#@ NO!!" I said "That's the spirit"
  21. I had an attempt a few weeks ago. It was too soon and I got light headed. So I stuck to walking the dog. Today felt good though. When are you booked in?
  22. Sounds like Laura's husband doubles as a wallet shaped like a vibrator.
  23. You can do it on one of those beaches over there (that aren't as nice as ours!)
