    Chafing

As I've lost weight and the stomach has started to deflate, I've been getting awful chafing underneath my stomach, where it hangs right above my groin region. It is terribly uncomfortable and painful, and I'm wondering what remedies you used if you faced this. I didn't know if some kind of over the counter powder would work, or if I should get something medicated from my doctor. My problem is that it seems to stay moist there all day due to the skin on skin, sweat, etc. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

    Torani SF syrup Recipe Ideas?

I like to add them to vanilla shakes. The caramel is delicious!

    Stalling?

Yes yes yes! I'm told this is normal! I actually gained about two weeks post op, but give it time and it works itself out!

    Calcium supplement - Tums

This was very interesting to me, as my surgeon has us do tums four times a day for calcium. I am going to ask when I follow up again to find out about the calcium citrate instead!

    I WANT REAL FOOD!

I found full liquids to be really tough, because it felt like everything I could eat was sweet-jello, pudding, Popsicles, protein shakes... I wanted something savory so bad! Thankfully puréed foods have been much easier to handle and allow for much more variety! Hang in there!!!

    Pureed stage?

My very first meal was turkey and gravy with mashed potatoes, and I puréed that. When I made my eggs, I made sure they were soft and the cheese kind of made them wet, so I didnt purée them. Not saying u should do what I did necessarily, but I felt like my much chewed the egg enough. With chicken and tuna salad, I puréed but it didn't really make it a gross consistency, which I was afraid of. Refried Beans, sour cream, and melted cheese, along with the ricotta dish I just baked and ate. They were both recipes in my book the NUT gave me. Cottage cheese I just eat rather than purée, and hummus is already mashed so I eat as-is. I think that covers all the foods I mentioned:)

    Pureed stage?

I'm on puréed food now. The things I've been eating: scrambled egg with melted cheese; refried beans with salsa, sour cream, and melted cheese; cottage cheese; hummus; chili; chicken or tuna salads made with light mayo; ricotta cheese baked with a little spaghetti sauce and parmesan. It's not ideal, but after being on liquids so long, the puréed stage was a welcome change for me!! Best of luck!
  8. Hi everyone, I lurk but haven't been much of an active participant on here. I was sleeved 4/30. At my one week appointment, I was down 31 pounds, which included weight lost during my 2 week pre op diet. However, in about the last 10 days, my weight loss has stopped. In fact, I've gained 10 pounds! It's so discouraging because I feel like I'm doing what I am supposed to be. I'm on puréed food right now, can only consume about 600-800 cals a day, and am getting 50-100g of protein daily. I also walk about a mile per day. I started at 343, got down to 312 and am currently sitting at 322. Any suggestions or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated at this point, as I'm feeling really down about this!

    Post op gain

Thanks for all your input. After posting, I realized thy my physician discontinued my diuretic at my post op appointment, which directly correlates with the increased weight over the last 10 days-must be fluid! Will this just work itself out naturally, or does anyone have suggestions to deal with water retention? Thanks again for the encouragement!
  10. I've been reading for a couple weeks and thought I would introduce myself! My name is Teale and I am hoping to have the sleeve done in the next few months. I meet with the surgeon next week to get the ball rolling, and I'm following in my husband's footsteps, as he has already started the pre-op process (though he has to quit smoking before surgery, which is posing a challenge for him!). I'm thankful to find this great resource and look forward to taking this journey and sharing with all of you!
