    Im hungry are you?

I am one week out today and YES, I am hungry. All the food commercials and yummy food in the house is so hard to take. Why, I do not know, but I've craved biscuits and homeade gravy more than anything the past couple of days. I don't know how much of this is head hunger, but it's surely hunger in some shape or form. I will be moving to soft foods in one more week and I cannot wait. One week at a time - keep on keepin on'. Good luck - know you are not alone.

    Light headed :(

I, too, was sleeved on Monday and started experiencing the lightheaded symptoms. I contacted my NUT and she said it was probably due to having low CARBS. She suggested drinking some milk. For the most part, the symptoms went away after a day or so. Just try to get in as much liquid and some milk and you should feel better soon. Good luck!
  3. Last night I took some liquid tylenol (regular adult) since my doc said it would prob. be OK. Also, switched to Lactaid to see if it helped my stomach process the rpotein shakes better. I have had A LOT of gas that I couldn't seem to get rid of. Well, I drank half a shake and took the 2 tbsp. of med and about an hour later I had explosive diarhea. My stomach made a lot of loud growling noises for several hours, but never really hurt. In fact, I found a lot of relief from this experience (first BM since op). So, I'm stuck now wondering if it was the med or the Lactaid milk. Has anyone else had any experience with Tylenol or Lactaid? I had half a shake this morning and no Tylenol, but some diarhea. Confused (but a little relieved).

    Today is day

Congratulations and good luck to you! My advice - be patient on your recovery during the first week. It's tough, but gets better each day. I am day 5 post op and feel like I have improved substantially each day. Share your thoughts, feelings and concerns. This forum is awesome!
  5. I was sleeved on Monday, the 10th and have developed something new today - lightheadedness. I'm not sure what is going on. I am not getting all my protein and water in, but I would say about half of each. I checked my bp and it is fine so I have no idea what is going on. I don't recall this being mentioned by the doc or NUT as a side-effect. Anyone else experience this?
  6. Thank you all for your kind words an encouragement. From yesterday to today things have improved and I am more positive on my outlook because of you. Although I can't say I feel great yet I can say I feel better than yesterday and for that I deem it a success. I know tomorrow is going to be even better than today. I am going to try to do some more of my Christmas shopping online and keep my thoughts on positive things. I do hope I am able to go back to work on Monday, but if I am not ready I am ok at accepting the fact I may have to delay returing to work. We are all different and heal differently and that is OK! Good luck to you all and thanks so much for your encouragement.
  7. I, too, am ready for the gas to pass - sleeved on the 10th. I am walking and sipping as they suggest, but still feel like an elephant is sitting on my stomach. I can tolerate the incision pains far more than the gas pains. Gas-X strips aren't doing much for me except making me gag. I am having to dig down deep for a extra helping of patience. Soooo ready for the gas to be a thing of past so I can move out of this "what did I do phase."

    3 days post op

Hi - I'm in the same boat as you. I was sleeved on Monday and had serious remorse yesterday due to all the pain due to gas/swelling. I haven't been able to get my fluids or protein in and had a doom and gloom outlook. So many people have been supported and said to just sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk. While you are the middle of the pain it's hard to be positive, but I can assure you that from even yesterday to today I feel so much better. With so many positive outcomes you have to believe and have faith that you will look back on this next week and know it was only temporary and a necessary part of the journey. Chin up and hang in there. We'll all get through this together.
  9. I was sleeved on Monday the 10th at 10:00 a.m. and everything seems to be on track for my recovery. I did my walking in the hospital and sipped as much water as I could, but still couldn't get much down at all. I was discharged the following day at about 9:00. I've been doing laps at my house, but the pains in my stomach are making it difficult to keep hardly anything down. I was able to get a protein shake down this morning a little broth this afternoon, but between the meds, broth, and shake I can't seem to get hardly any water in. They said I would feel miserable for the first several days, but I "thought" that was only for those who didn't follow orders. I've had a lot of phlem (yes TMI) and coughing to express it feels like daggers in my stomach. I really am questioning whether I did the right thing by having this surgery. I scheduled to go back to work on Monday and am having difficulty in seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'd love to hear some of you experiences with this in the first few days of post op. As hard as I want to put a big smile on right now and provide encouragement to others I am in the middle of my own pitty party. Thank you for any advice you can give.
