  1. Whats the deal with only being allowed liquid for a few weeks after the surgery?
  2. Just spoke with an RNY lady that lost 147 pounds in 7 months and has kept it off for a year now. That's 5 pounds a week!
  3. To me, that sounds like the kiss of death. Anything so strict seems like it would be tough to follow.
  4. Wow!!! It's normal to lose 1 pound a day for the first 3 months???
  5. I keep seeing peoples signatures and they said (for example): Pre-op: 300 Post-op: 270 How are you losing 30 pounds in the 3 days youre in the hospital???
  6. A modified version of Atkins is what my surgeon likes.
  7. Well my surgeon has been a bariatric surgeon for over 25 years, and has had thousands of patients. He said he used to be a low fat disciple but the numbers dont lie and those who limit fat intake do not do as well as low who simply go low carb.
  8. Its funny seeing you say "low fat", because my doctor and surgeon think low fat diets are the devil.
  9. WOW! They pretty much examined every part of you!!!!
  10. I think hunger and cravings are some of my biggest problems. If RNY doesnt fix that, then there may be no point. So are you still hungry after surgery?
  11. Thanks for all of the answers everyone. I really hope it takes me less than 5 months, because I can't do it if it takes that long. Between my insurance spiking on January 1st and school starting on January 20th, I would be stuck. I would need to have the surgery by Christmas. What is the testing you had to do? And how long did each of the phases take?
  12. Thanks! i hope mine is less than 3 months as well.
  13. I went to the seminar on Thursday. I called for an appointment the very next day. From my first appointment to surgery date, what is the average time? I have off this semester from school, so I'm really hoping I can have the surgery by December. I also have no deductible for the rest of the year, so my surgery would be completely covered if it's done before January 1st. I don't think I'm going to have any problem getting approval. I have good insurance. I'm 24 years old and 427 pounds. I'm on 2 blood pressure medications and I'm still high. My BMI is 60. I have elevated blood sugar. I have sleep apnea. Thanks for any info you can give!
