I thought my sleeve didn't like acid either. I was getting really really mild reflux, more annoying at times than pain.
I got some apple cider vinegar after reading about it on here - and it works. Mild reflux gone.
That fact that I have it in a shot glass, bang it on the table like it's a tequila shot is a whole 'nother issue.

A new year and a new body! My goal for 2013 is to drop 100lbs! But I'm also really looking forward to some of those non-scale victories, even if they take a little longer. Here's some items from my wishlist:
    - No more squeezing into tiny bathroom stalls! Though I swear some of them have the TP dispenser at the worst place possible to really CRAM your legs in there!
    - Going to a clothing store and not having to search for the "plus" side.
    - Not having my knees grinding under my weight when I go up and down stairs.
    - Wearing a swimsuit that doesn't have a freaking skirt attached
    - Wearing dresses and not having my thighs rub together til they're raw
    - Boots! I want a pair of freaking BOOTS!
    - I want guys to try and pick me up. Not that they'll get me (I'm married), but it'll make me feel sexy.
What are some goals everyone else has -- crazy or non??

Tears rolled down my cheeks in the dressing room when I went shopping today (fist time since surgery on 10/25). After having to try on a few medium shirts because the larges were too big and having to go back for size 12 jeans because I was swimming in the 14s, I couldn't em back. The first time I thought was maybe a fluke but after buying 3 medium shirts (some larges as well) and 3 size 12 jeans I had to just soak it in and realize that I haven't been this size since jr high. In just 9 weeks I've went from 18/20 and xl/xxl shirts to 12/14 and m/l shirts. It's so strange shopping in a store and having to skip the plus sizes and know that you don't have to try to squeeze into their biggest size and are able to shop the "normal" racks. Bring on 2013, I'm ready for my life back!

I am sorry, but in my book telling a morbidly obese person to just "eat less and exercise more" is like telling a diabetic to make more insulin.
The people out there who have never been more 25 pounds overweight have no idea. I have come to believe that once obesity has you in it's claws your odds of getting out alive without drastic intervention is very very very low. I used to think I was just lame and lacked self control to eat right and exercise. That I was somehow "broken" that I lost 85# (was still well over 200#) on weight watchers and within 5 years had regained 51 of those pounds. I tried every diet, every program, therapy, tried OA I had short term success with some (WW being the best) but I could not seem to really get significant amount of weight off and keep it off. Then, what got scary in the last year or two before my sleeve, I couldn't even lose a small amount of weight, nothing was working.
Well, what I have come to understand, based on info from my surgeon, from articles I have read, and reflecting on my history and so many stories I have read here.... That the body's response to obesity is to crave more food and to restore the weight anytime you do manage to lose a few pounds. Yes, we do have lifestyle choices to make and need to take responsibility for that, but without the surgery, morbidly obese people have very little chance to become normal weight (or anywhere near).
