It happens to me too. A nurse told me it is a combination of hormones and the way your body gets rid of toxins and fat....much like a nursing mom.

Drinking and eating
My dr said it was an old rule for bypass patients. He says its no big deal.
-
Do you drink with your food?
I used to until my dr told me this week not to worry about it. He said it was an old rule for bypass folks. So I drink now. The dr said that it won't hurt you.

drinking
Went to my 6 wk appt this week. My doc said I have no restrictions. Stay away from soft drinks bec they are bad for you. Beer is fine just remember it is empty calories. The carbonation may make you feel gassy but it isn't going to hurt you.

Discouraged
Thanks for all the encouragement everyone. I know we all have encouraging and discouraging times. I am sure that we have all had unrealistic expectations at some point. I certainly don't need to check myself. Thank you to all those who gave helpful feedback.

Protein supplements?
Sorry I was confusing. I was trying to figure out if there is a way to get more protein in besides drinking it. After surgery it has been difficult to force protein shakes down.
-
Protein supplements?
Does anyone take protein supplements? Would that help to get my protein in. I am 11 days out and only getting half of my protein in.

Difficulty with water?
It seems to be more painful to drink water than anything else. I found that it doesn't really have anything to do with the temp. Seems weird and can't figure out why this could be.

Bigger sips today...concerned
I was sleeved 12/4. Saw my dr yesterday and he said all that will get easier over the first two weeks. I am the same way. Think it is what is supposed to be happening when you are healing.
