  1. Ironic, don't you think! I was passed over for a promotion because of how I looked (but II doubt they would ever admit it). It's also painful to know discrimination first hand.
  2. You sound so much like myself. I'll be getting sleeved in Feb. hope my journey will be as successful as yours!
  3. Jamari: thank you so much for your kind words
  4. I'm late Jan/early Feb too. Good luck!
  5. I just left a job (laid off) where I worked for 20 years. Not one "friend" there has called, emailed or asked how I was. It's sad when you feel you've done so much to nourish a relationship that others take for granted. I'm done with those people - I deserve so much better!! I just got approved today - my best revenge for their hurtful behavior will be the look on their faces if I ever run into them again
  6. I just got approved today - took less than a week. But I expected that with a 51 BMI. This year has been super difficult for me and my family. My husband got hit by a drunk driver in May and I got laid off from a job I had for 20 years in November. Hoping this surgery is the first hopeful thing to happen of many for 2013! Then job hunting with a vengeance!
  7. I appreciate the support. As someone who has not been sleeved yet, this is exactly why I visit this site - it helps take away some of the anxiety for a procedure that is permanent but so necessary. Thank you!
  8. Little Red 30 - how are you doing?
  9. It's so great that all of you have responded to this thread! I have one more NUT appointment before they put my info into the insurance company. Almost there!! My issue now is that after 20 years with the same company, I got laid off the week before Thanksgiving. Nice, huh....depressing! My motivation has waned and I know that I won't have health insurance by the end of February. I NEED ALL YOUR INSPIRATION! I'm considering asking Dr. Pohl a office to try and squeeze me in before I lose insurance (but what if there are complications?) I can't afford to do this without insurance. Looking actively for a new job but I'd hate to take one just to have to take 2 weeks off shortly thereafter. I feel stuck!!! Also, I think my weight will be a detriment on getting a new job. Someone told me that's its the only legal kind of discrimination left. Ugh! It would be great if I could look for a job as a thinner version of me! At least I'd have a better shot! Any advice is welcomed!
  10. I just lost my job on Friday after being with them for 20 years. I will lose my insurance at the end of February. I just have a stress test and one more NUT appt before my doctor sends in my info for approval. I'm not sure if I should try to get a job now in earnest and then have to explain in a couple months why I need time off or should I stay on unemployment until after my surgery (if I can get it scheduled by the end of February. Oh what to do... Also losing my motivation.
  11. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH LILA AND IGGYCHICK !'n
  12. Leave your bag with your husband to bring in later - you won't need it right away. They will have you put whatever your wearing, shoes, etc. in a plastic bag and ask you to place it at the bottom of the gurney so it travels with you. That's how they handle it here...
  13. Iggychick: you're on fire tonight!!!
  14. Such an awesome comeback. It's so unfortunate that I always seem to have cool things like that to say like an hour later. Ahhhh, that's what I should have said!!!!
  15. I hope my experience will be just like yours
  16. You look so freakin awesome in your pic! That's all in one month - wow! Your doing awesome!
  17. Some people have written themselves letters to read when their nervous. The letter reminds them why they are doing this. Sounds like an awesome idea
