    Dumping syndrome

I'm also at 8 months out, and had a similar experience to Sydney above. Sugary and fatty foods go right through me, but it started when I had my gall bladder out several years prior. Since getting my sleeve, I really only get an upset stomach or have indigestion issues when I eat more than 4 or 5 bites of something. Yesterday, it was 91 degrees here, and I was craving watermelon something fierce. I started eating it like I forgot about my surgery, and, sure enough, after about 8 bites, I got sick. Just take it slow, especially in the first 3 months, and you'll be fine. I had buyer's remorse for about the first month, but I could not be happier with my results to-date. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

I've been following this thread for the past 8 months since surgery, but never made time to post before now. It's been a whirlwind, but I'm thrilled with my results to-date. Highest weight: 333.4 Surgery weight: 290.0 Current weight: 232.5 I've really noticed over the past few months that I'm craving primarily liquid -- eating something rarely ever sounds appealing. I get full after about 3-4 bites of anything, so I guess it just feels like a waste of effort Anyone else having this kind of experience? What are your go-to foods that've helped you stay on track and still get your nutritional needs met? Steph

YES, Ashley! When I moved to blended foods early last week, I started having issues with constipation. UGH. On day 4 of no-go, I took a Dulcolax and that helped after about 4 hours. Another 3 days later, I again wasn't going. Definitely don't want to be taking laxatives, but what can I be doing differently to get things going naturally? This has never been an issue before for me.

Wow...I actually had FUN shopping for a few clothes with my boyfriend this week! I'm down 2 sizes and my clothes were hanging, or, in many cases, FALLING off me. Actually am starting to be able to see my shape again...yay! Started my pre-op healthy diet in June at my HW of 333 (I'm 5'9"). The day of surgery (Nov 1), I was 290. Today, I'm 268. Happy, happy girl!
  8. Clearly I have a very conservative surgeon, but I'm on protein shakes and clear liquids for 4 weeks post-op. I haven't taken a real bite of something besides sf popsicles in 5 weeks now :-). I'll be on blended foods another 2 weeks. Then soft foods another 2 weeks after that. "Regular" food 2 months post-op. Interesting....potatoes, cows milk, starchy veggies, and anything with >6g sugar per serving is on my "never again" list. Can't get over the differences in diet plans.
  9. Me, too, the first week. It's from the swelling....trying to push a fire hose thru a coffee straw It gets easier, I promise. Hang in there!

So funny, that's exactly what I said to my fiance. I'm not "hungry", I'm missing the "idea" and "experience" of food. You know what I'm craving?? Salad! Spinach and broccoli :-). Thanks for your support!

Hi, timetobefree! Gosh, I was beginning to think it was just me. I also had a hernia repaired during my surgery, and my discomfort seemed to last much longer than what I'm reading from other posters. I was on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op and am on a liquid diet through Week 4 post-op (clear sugar-free liquids and protein shakes only). I've adhered to that, but I would give ANYTHING to taste something else at this point (13 days post-op). I'm "full" from the shakes and vitamins, but am craving different flavors. Pudding sounds like heaven . What is your post-op diet?

    Starting Full Liquids

There's no way I could've stomached (no pun intended!) shakes that soon. Having them today filled me to the gills!
