Band-aided

Yes, I went in for my op last fri and the nurse told me that once the restricted diet was over I would be starving as my band was not filled yet. As for lossing weight on the pre op and post op diet......... WEll, yeh, like I haven't eaten proberly in nearly 3 weeks. on clear fluids right now, the weight is dropping off me but I fully expect to put some on when I can eat more. I've not had the band fitted to loss 25 llbs a month I want steady eddie! that way it should hopefully stay off! Jx

just a question, I was banded at TLBC by Dr Yau, I remember seeing in the broachure another Dr's name mentioned. I have never heard of him with all my dealing with TLBC and just wondered who he was? Has anyone else see his name mentioned, sorry I've forgot his name.

Thanks guys for your posts, I had a reasonable sleep last night and do feel slightly better today! Your right Wheezy, I have just had a big op, of course I'm going to feel rough. Sounds silly now but, I thought I'd be skipping out of the hospital. Does the pressure in your tummy go away? Jx

Yes, I'm taking my meds but they make me feel yukky! When I take them I sleep alot which is good, but then I wake up and it's like I've been sleeping with a 50llb weight on my tummy. I am walking around, but I haven't had much gas at all. I'm feeling so low, I wish I had'nt bothered having it done now, I feel so terrible. Sorry for the moan guys!

HI, I was banded yesterdsy and am feeling just bloody rough. I feel like I've been hit by a lead ball in my abdoman. I can't sit, lie or anything. I feel sickly as well. When will this pass. Has anyone else felt like this?:sick

Hi Guys and congrts to Consafo!!! I was banded today at TLBS. All great not that much pain but, I've been asleep all afternoon on my side!!! Knowone said I couldn't, is this a big no no please someone answer before bed time

I think I might be able to help you here! I'm not banded yet but I have been under every diet under the sun, and use air travel alot. I presume you're worried about getting protien shakes etc, Am I right? I have taken on protien shakes on board, in small plastics bags and a plastic shaker cup. They don't mind you bringing your own food as well. Remember if you're flying into USA/ Canada from an international flight you can't land fruit, veg, meats ( tins, like snack tuna is ok)! Last December I went to see George Michale in conert, I wasn't a particular fan of his but I have to say he was AMAZING!!!!!!!! I went home and down loaded all his songs onto my Ipod. I love going for a strong walk in a quiet forest near me, I sing out so loud and don't give a dam!!!!!! I actually think I'm on stage with him...... Jx

I so feel for you, I've been there and bought the t-shirt. Are you banded? Or is this your pre op diet or just a regular diet? Whatever, I struggle to lose weight that's why I'm being banded on Fri morning. Jx

Eh Suzzzie, I'm being banded on the 15th June as well! what time is yours, I'm at 8am in the morning. I'm telling NO ONE! Only my Hubby knows, I'm not even telling my kids or anyone, well not yet! I'm in a similar position. I've got my sons Grad dinner this Wed, cannot eat as I'm on the pre op, cottage cheese thingy!!!! So I'm going to fake feeling unwell for that one! The best actor award goes to, the fat chick that's dying of stavation in the corner! Then I'm off to Uk to visit family and friends on the Mon after my op, terrible timing I know but, there has been family problems that mean I need to go. I was going to cancel and re book my op but I thought If I don't do it now, I just won't. So I'm in the same position, what the heck do I say to people who are used to see me chop down on almost anything, now seeing me reaching for a green tea.... I'm thinking, I'm going to go with the hiatal hernia, really stupid question now, what is that? Help me out here wasabubble butt, I've read a load of your posts and you really seem to know what your talking about! If you have any other advice, bring it on! Thanks JX

I'm not pround to say this but before I started my pre op diet I went on a massive pig out :guess:guess:guess! Did anyone else do this? I went for my last everything......... I'm not yet banded, next Friday! How bad am I:eek:!!!!!! JX

I'd be really interested to know how many of you, knowing what you know now , would have the band fitted again or how many of you wouldn't :faint:! JX

Oh my goodness!!!! I've heard of slippages and erosions but now stretched pouch..... I'm being banded next week and I'm terrified. Is there anything else I need to know. Will I burst into flames if I eat a hotdog....... Jx

Hey Audreyg, It was me who mentioned, when you're fat you accept being treated like crap in relationships! I happily accepted it..... You sound like you've got your whole fantastic life ahead of you, with your head firmly on your banded slimming down nicely booty!!!!. I'm so glad things are working out for you! Big shout out for "wasabubble butt"!!!!! My teenage years of being fat destroyed me, I ended up in many bad relationships, because how could anyone love the fat chick, I was happy to be in a bad relationship because it was all I could get, or so I thought! If I had sorted out my weight in my teens I wouldn't have had to go through that crap..... As I said my son is heavy, 14 and 220llb 5'9,k his Dad is 6'4 and I'm hoping he now just grows upwards. I will and would do anything in my power to save him any unhapiness. At the moment he is doing great with his food and exercise he's down 20llbs but I try not to dewl to much on his weight because I want him to know that he is so much more than that and I want him to get on with his life. I truly hope he manages to gain controle of his weight, and food. Unlike me who has struggled with it all my life. If he get's to 16/17 and it is still a problem I will look at banding for him. The funny thing is my daughter who is 11 and has always been slim has started to put weight on, quite a bit. Now I have never once mentioned this to her, I have never reffered to her weight gain, in the opposite I have told her how beautiful and curvy she is and do you know what, she thinks she is "Canadians next top model". I have noticed she herself is begining to take controle of portion sizes and exercise! But as for self essteam she has it in bucketfuls, It makes me wonder how much of my sons weight issues I have caused indirectly. As soon as he started to put weight around 7yrs old I freaked and tried to take controle of it, whilst not even being able to take controle of my own! Jx

Ducky, My heart bleeds for your and your litle girl, I really know how this must be ripping you apart. My son really wanted to go to camp shane and I said if I sort it out I need some commitment off you. Since I booked he's dropped 20llbs, maybe you could try the same with your daughter. Did you say she was 17, why don't you suggest if she drops 20/30 llbs you'll look at the band for when she's say 18. You never know if she's on her way she may chose not to have it. Let her see the operation performed and give her all the information, let and go and taslk to the doctors. Alot of people , say they have to work with the band and it's not a magic cure. The clinic I have been to is very helpful, I'm in Canada and I went to the TLCB the clinic provides along with the sugery a nutritionalist, and phscologist the doctor there say';s it all goes hand in hand. Try and find a cliinc near you that really deals with the whole issue, a good clinic will tell you the truth about the band and she may see it's not magic. Whats the wrost thing that can happen! the band doesn't work for her! all the best let me know how she gets on. Jx
