Oh man, I'm praying for all of you going through struggles with your health right now. It's a tough road, no doubt.

December 2012 Post Op Group
I'm literally choking down Greek yogurt with added protein powder. I want to slap the healthcare professionals who've told me over the last month to "just eat what you're supposed to" or "just drink the right amount"... Like this is all so easy. I want to hit my daily goals SO bad. Maybe today is the day.

Post-op health issues
Don't have a gallbladder. And food goes down ok so I don't think stricture.

I too am terrified of trying anything new at all. I don't want to be sick. I had a near dumping experience last night. I think I forced myself to drink my G2 Gatorade too fast.

Blind guy, Hippie gal and I both used Josh Roller. When was your surgery? I may have met you at preop.

Post-op health issues
Yes, I have horrible chest pain, but assumed it was my pouch. I walk around rubbing my breast bone constantly because it just hurts.

Hippie gal, Dr Roller is more strict than most. We are not to have anything other than protein shakes, water, and broth for the first two weeks. And milk or flavored waters. At two weeks they'll tell you to start with yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, and then if those sit well, progress to soft foods. I specifically called his nut during week 2 to ask about creamy soups and she said no.

Post-op health issues
I don't *think* I have a stricture just because I can eat the 2-4oz no problem, all food goes down fine and causes no pain. I just can't eat very frequently, so I'm only eating 2-3 meals a day. The liquids were hurting to go down, but didn't come back up into my throat or anything if that makes sense. But I'll definitely ask about the possibility of a stricture. I'm waiting on blood work tomorrow and then I'm going to demand to be admitted and tested and FIXED! lol

Post-op health issues
I'll be 1 month post-op tomorrow and boy am I having a hard time. I had no issues until a week after surgery when suddenly it became painful for me to drink. (was on all liquids) I struggled with liquids for 2 more weeks.. averaging 10oz a day. At that point, I was getting in zero Protein. After I saw my doctor, he doubled my antacid and the Fluid problem started to get better. Now I just struggle to get in ENOUGH fluids, food, and protein. I average 20-30 oz fluid. 20-30g protein. and 200-300 cal a day. I know this isn't enough, but I'm literally trying as hard as I can. Two weeks ago, I started fainting. Surgeon thought my BP meds needed to be lowered. Did that and still fainting. Now, my arms are tingling and going completely numb and sometimes I lose control of my hands. It's really scary. I saw my family doctor today to have blood work, neck x-rays, and nerve conduction testing done. Neck x-rays revealed a pretty screwed up neck (I knew that, was in a wreck 10 years ago). Will have other results back in the next few days. She's pretty certain that it's all caused by deficiencies and malnutrition. (Yes, I've been taking my vitamins) Depending on what my bloodwork and nerve conduction studies say, she may admit me for iv fluids and iv nutrients to get me back to a good place. I'm just ready for a day when I feel HAPPY that I had the surgery, rather than regretful. My nursing program starts back next week, this is something I've worked my entire adult life for and I'm terrified I'll flunk out in my last semester because I can't physically do the 12hr days.

I'm still failing at liquids and proteins too sammi, but I've almost doubled what I was getting a week ago so I'm proud of that. I'm up to 30-40g protein and 20-40oz of water a day. Unfortunately, I am feeling the bad effects of dehydration and starvation, but am slowly improving.

Legs Hurting!
Hippie gal, my HANDS are tingling!? Scaring the crap out of me. I'm hoping its some sort of deficiency and trying to be more faithful with my vitamins. I see my regular doc on Tuesday about it.

Sipping all day ?
I'm in nursing school as well and it's just not practical for us to carry a container of Water on us. We are usually carrying supplies, meds, computers, and even patients. I plan on leaving mine in the break room and just trying my best to stop by frequently and sip.

Fat chicks dont need to eat at least that how my family feels
Just bought a 12 pack of G2 Gatorade because I can't drink the apple juice, sweet tea, Mountain Dew, or mr pipp that they have in the house. I have ONE thing in the house to drink. Take a nap, wake up... 4 of them are gone. They tried to act like they didn't know what I was talking about until I asked how the 3 year old got a blue mustache... Busted.

For dinner tonight I'm having a turkey meatball with a touch of marinara and Parmesan. You could purée that. Use cottage cheese instead of parm to up the protein.

He was cool. He was mad that I didn't call him from the ER. He made me promise to call him for anything and everything. He is pleased with my weightloss and I got to move to soft foods. He's pretty funny, I like him. He reminds me so much of Andy from The Office if anyone watches that.
