simplyfedup reacted to Lost Band in From Band to Sleeve
My band had to be removed in December 2012 because it had dislodged. Now my journey has lead me to Sleeve Surgery. I went to meeting at the end of February to look at what options I have and I am very excited about having the Gastric Sleeve Surgery. I started working with all my doctors to help speed up the process. As of today, I have all my appointments scheduled (Nutritionist, Fitness Evaluation, Physic Evaluation, Pre-Op, Physical, Post-Op). My surgery just got scheduled for June 3, 2013. My case has been fast tracked all the way. My surgeon is Dr. Brad Watkins, UC Health Weight Loss Center located in West Chester, Ohio. My surgery will be preformed at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. It's kind of a blur, but I'm happy. I start my two week Pre-Op diet on May 19th. I've been down this road with my lap band so I'm not too concerned. I am a diabetic with an insulin pump so it makes life interesting to keep up with the changes my Blood Glucose does when I drop to 800 calories. I'm also a heart patient, so I will be stopping my Plavix and Aspirin about ten days before surgery. I currently take 39 pills daily to maintain my heart health, lungs, CHF, kidney function issues. I am concerned about taking so much medication. My doctor requires post op a Multivitamin, Calcium supplement and Vitamin B12. I have read so much information and watched so many You Tube Videos, I feel very comfortable with my decision. My biggest issue is not having a support group close by. I'm over an hour away. I know it was a big help with my lap band. I use Spark People for my daily journaling. It helps keep me focused. I look forward to everyone's input. Thanks for letting me ramble.

I find it amusing that people post in this thread just to point out that ppl are still posting.
Kind of like waking someone up to tell them it's bedtime.

AVOID PRILOSEC IF YOU CAN!!! I had the same problem...stopped taking prilosec, and then had the worst heartburn in my life! Here's what they dont tell you...prilosec, and other proton pump inhibitors like it, cause really bad rebound effect when you stop taking it. The severity differs for everyone. This could take several weeks to go away completely. It took me about 6 weeks of taking 150 mg of zantac twice a day to get past it. Now, I'm down to 75 mg a day, if I need it. Zantac, btw, will not cause rebound, and is milder. Basically, stick to anything that is not considered a PPI, or proton pump inhibitor. Prilosec, will for sure relieve your symptoms, but you'll be taking it for the rest of your life! And don't the drug companies love you for it!

Just some Sunday morning humor....me with bad hair and no make up, but I figure y'all are like a second family....
Here is someone I have not seen in many years.....my collar bone...
    I love it....
I am happy to see her again.....
    I have missed her!
Try not to laugh at the pic to much...but just the fact that I don't need to hoist my computer up overhead to take an angled down pic to hide my double chins is another non scale victory for me!
I find something each and every day to be proud of myself for......
the way I fit in a chair, the fact my wedding ring is sitting in my jewelry box waiting to be resized beacuse it's falling off, crossing my legs so easily and lady like, clothes shopping, roomy large shirts (thinking about a medium here folks.....seriously!) and just my quality of life!
I LOVE this life - and while I considered myself to be fairly happy at my biggest, it was nothing like I feel now.
Quit lurking and go do it! Yes - it was scary the day of surgery! Who wouldn't be scared!! But it is so worth it!!! I want to shout it off a mountain top!!! Go for it! It is amazing!!!! Pics are about 4 months apart......

Try freezing any flavor Isopure like Alpine Punch or Grape in ice-cube trays then using a Ninja blender (that's what works best for me) to make an awesome slush. Put a few cubes in one of the single-serve cups, add a little cold Isopure drink, pulse away and you have a slush as good as anything you can get at Sonic. Never gets watered down because it's ALL Isopure. Add a little Splenda or Truvia to taste if you want, then enjoy - one sip at a time. If you pour it into a Thermos cup, it will last a very long time in the slushy state!

Sorry to hear your having such a hard time.. I was also sleeved on 12-12 and my Dr has me on Clear Liquids until 5 days post op at which point I start the full liquids stage which would include Protein shakes and things of that nature. I stopped my liquid pain meds at 2 days post op because it made my chest hurt and made my mouth water....I'm doing really well now and can't wait to have this darn drain removed 2mar!!! Also I find that the small bottles of low calorie G2 help alot.....wishing a speedy recovery for us all!!!!

simplyfedup got a reaction from EYE CANDY in New Surgery Date 12-12-12! Anyone Else?
Finally sleeved and on the losers bench....12-12-12 is now my new birth date or at least 12-12 is....... Here's how things went: arrived at the hospital around 8:30 this morning....they immediately had me change into that weird looking gown with the butt out. A nurse then came in to ask several questions, check my sugar levels and give me a shot of lovenox to help thin the blood(hope I spelled it correctly) another nurse then came with a wheelchair and said she was taking me to the back to start my i.v. and get me ready for surgery....at that point everything became a reality and I began to cry. My husband who has been a great support told me it would be fine and reminded me of why I was doing this surgery...the i.v was started and within 15 minutes they rolled me to the operating room....now this room was freezing and there was at least 5 people with mask and scrubs preparing instruments and things of that nature.....a nurse then ask me to scoot on to the table and the anesthesiologist began telling me that he would be giving me something to calm my nerves..I asked him if that would also put me to sleep and he replied, "eventually".....lol next thing I know I was waking up in the recovery room.....I immediately ask for pain meds because it felt like menstrual cramps x2.......every since they put the pain meds in my i.v it's been smooth sailing......no nausea or gas pains and never once threw up or dry heaved.... My surgeon said I did great and there were no complications what so ever!!!!!! I give all the glory to God for such a wonderful experience and know that I'm not out of the clear yet but I trust in the lord and his greatness......if there's anyone getting the surgery soon and your scared or nervous, what I can say is that you have nothing to worry about....cast your cares on God and he will protect you.......God bless
