  1. Hello everyone its been 10 months since my surgery and I'm really happy I did it! I can eat a little more than I could at like 5 months out and even find myself trying to gain a few pounds back....at 5'5 168lbs I feel extremely skinny:) I know, its what I always wanted but would be happy to stay exactly where I am now(Weight wise) I wish all of you much success no matter if your pre or post op!! I'm here to answer any questions you have. Pics are attached! the first is at my heaviest of 250lbs and the other was taken at 168lbs
  2. Hi fellow sleevers........I will be getting sleeved on Dec 11th and to say the least, I'm scared as all hell......I'm known for canceling my surgery date and rescheduling do to complication fears.....I'm currently 240 lbs and 5'5 which is just extremely to much weight for my height. I don't have many supporters in my life and think this site is the perfect place to get support from people who really care.....I've been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember...I'm depressed all the time and always accusing my husband of cheating because of how insecure I am with self......This has to stop!! I'm ready to get my life back and get off this damn couch......Is there anyone else having their surgery on or around Dec 11th?? Let's share our journeys and help support eachother!!!
  3. Thanks and I can't wait until you see how easy it can be. This is a great support site to keep you going and conversing with others who have gone through the same thing you have. To upload a pic you have to click on the paper clip icon when making a post. at least that's how I uploaded my pics
  4. AWWW thanks. as far as the journey itself, its actually been much easier than I thought it would be going into this. When I first started coming on this site there were a couple stories that nearly scared me out of the surgery. Remember that everyone's journey is their own and may differ in many ways. For me it was a walk in the park. right after surgery I would get this really bad acid reflux and it was terrible!!! It lasted about 2 months for me and now its gone.. and it never came back. Nothing nearly as bad as that to talk about. as far as excess skin, I don't have much at all and wont be needing any plastics. my tummy is not the best looking but its flat and doesn't hang over. Try using coco butter to moisturize your skin because it helps keep the skin tight (or whatever moisturizer u use) I don't wear any compression garments under my clothes but I will say I miss my bootie and boobies....lol..............I added a pic I took at work today. Good luck on your surgery and get over here on this losers bench:)
  5. your so right about some people envying our success. Your Insurance will approve it and you'll be on the losers bench in no time. There's a young lady at my job that is considering having the vsg surgery and came to me for advice. she said she was so impressed by my results and knows that's the surgery for her. as I began to tell her the wonderful things about the surgery, another co-worker walks up and says, "Don't do it girl, I know somebody that died from that surgery." so I turn to her and say, what surgery? and she says, "Gastric Bypass right?" uuuummm no!!! she was so set on being negative that not only did she butt into our conversation but she didn't know what she was talking about!! The best advice I can give you is to do as my research as you can on the vsg surgery to be sure its the surgery for you! Don't listen to the negative people that may try to talk you out of the surgery.( I had lots of those) and PRAY on it because only God knows what's best for you
  6. Thank you all for your wonderful comments...I forget that I fit right in here. Where I'm from, people do more staring and whispering about my weight loss than complimenting as my vsg family does. One guy flat out asked if I was sick....like really? I've somehow lost a couple friends after my surgery but hey I guess they were seasonal friends anyway...lol....This surgery is one of the best things I've ever done for myself and I feel great now. Talk about non scale victories....omg. Thank God for this surgery:)

    Valentines Day Challenge!

I had my surgery on 12/12/12 and was at a stall for two weeks......as soon as i started eating more calories and jogging on the treadmill at 3.7mph it seems the weight started falling off.....my problem was not eating enough calories which caused my body to store the fat instead of releasing it (In my mind) also I started adding swimming to my daily routine and that works wonders.....got on the scale this morning and i was even 2lbs lighter than yesterday.......although to be honest, when looking at myself in the mirror, I feel like the same fat girl that started this journey although i'm about 22lbs lighter....lol

  13. To be honest the drain wasn't as bad as I'd imagined although it is very uncomfortable....it was hard to find a comfortable sleeping position and hard to shower with it but it just wasn't as bad as I thought.....the day that sucker came out, I began to really love my sleeve........so a little uncomfortable but all and all not as bad as u may think.....good luck
  14. How far out are you? I had really bad reflux for the first week or so and once I started on mushies it went away.....guess there was nothing to absorb the acid in the beginning but now it's gone and hasn't come back..... Best of luck
  15. Had my surgery on 12-12 and I feel great!!!!! This is the best decision I ever made for myself and a great Christmas present!!! Down 12lbs since surgery and out and about like I never had surgery!!! If I had to do this all over again, I would in a heart beat!!!!!

8days post op and feeling 100%

Well during the clear liquid stage I was having really bad heartburn and as soon as I went to full liquids I made a nice soup very well blended and I haven't had heartburn since....just make sure there are no really solid parts of that soup.....I guess u can say the soup actually helped me...

Less than 3 days post op but..

Sorry to hear your having such a hard time.. I was also sleeved on 12-12 and my Dr has me on Clear Liquids until 5 days post op at which point I start the full liquids stage which would include Protein shakes and things of that nature. I stopped my liquid pain meds at 2 days post op because it made my chest hurt and made my mouth water....I'm doing really well now and can't wait to have this darn drain removed 2mar!!! Also I find that the small bottles of low calorie G2 help alot.....wishing a speedy recovery for us all!!!!
  19. My surgery date was changed from 12-11-12 To 12-12-12........That seems to be the date of new beginnings.....Keep me in prayer please!

Woo Hoo! Got My New Date. December 11

Great.....my experience so far has been great!!!! No gas pains as people talked about and no nausea or dry heaving....pain meds through the i.v. Have been great....I was sleeved at about 11am today and as I said I feel wonderful and have no regrets!!!!!
  21. Finally sleeved and on the losers bench....12-12-12 is now my new birth date or at least 12-12 is....... Here's how things went: arrived at the hospital around 8:30 this morning....they immediately had me change into that weird looking gown with the butt out. A nurse then came in to ask several questions, check my sugar levels and give me a shot of lovenox to help thin the blood(hope I spelled it correctly) another nurse then came with a wheelchair and said she was taking me to the back to start my i.v. and get me ready for surgery....at that point everything became a reality and I began to cry. My husband who has been a great support told me it would be fine and reminded me of why I was doing this surgery...the i.v was started and within 15 minutes they rolled me to the operating room....now this room was freezing and there was at least 5 people with mask and scrubs preparing instruments and things of that nature.....a nurse then ask me to scoot on to the table and the anesthesiologist began telling me that he would be giving me something to calm my nerves..I asked him if that would also put me to sleep and he replied, "eventually".....lol next thing I know I was waking up in the recovery room.....I immediately ask for pain meds because it felt like menstrual cramps x2.......every since they put the pain meds in my i.v it's been smooth sailing......no nausea or gas pains and never once threw up or dry heaved.... My surgeon said I did great and there were no complications what so ever!!!!!! I give all the glory to God for such a wonderful experience and know that I'm not out of the clear yet but I trust in the lord and his greatness......if there's anyone getting the surgery soon and your scared or nervous, what I can say is that you have nothing to worry about....cast your cares on God and he will protect you.......God bless
  22. Sleeved and feeling pretty good so far.....no gas or throwing up and most importantly hardly any pain at all...praying things continue like this......no regrets!!!!!!
