  1. Surgery tomorrow! Weeeee! We're in Eagle Pass Texas, chillin' until tomorrow when I will have my surgery. I HOPE it is early. This hotel here though. Yeah.... Anyone who is planning to have surgery with Dr Alvarez, Eagle Pass is interesting. When Rosie stops midway between San Antonio and Eagle Pass? GET SNACKS. I'm so serious. The vending machine has all of 4 items in it. Really. 4. Pitiful looking. The ice machine is broken but thankfully the soda machine works. Got some water. We tried to get some Chinese delivered.... They stop delivering at 2. We didn't get to the hotel till after 2. It's just a block up the street so no big deal, but they didn't have anything that I wanted (namely broth) available. I was hungry and grumpy by then.... The clerk got evil glares. Other than that.... Life is grand. Nothing after 11:30. Hungry but I'm saving my last protein shake till close to 10 or so. I think GoodE2shoes is my surgery buddy!
  2. Very few people know I'm having surgery. As the weight comes off i I don't plan to lie but I'm not making a huge announcement about it either. I don't want people watching me and asking over and over how much weight I've lost. None of your business.
  3. My doctor's Nurse says, "there are no bald wls patients. hair loss stops when your loss seems to slow down." I have Biotin but haven't opened it. The last time I took Biotin I broke out in bumps. ALL OVER MY BODY. I'm scared. I'm trying not to take it.
  4. My surgery is Friday as well! Good luck!!!
  5. I wish Dr Alvarez still did them like this. He now does them as part of the surgery so you don't get to see your sleeve in action.
  6. w00t! I'm gonna love that guy.

My nerves are shot. I go from WAY excited to OH MY GOD I AM NOT GOING TO WAKE UP FROM SURGERY OR HE'S GOING TO FIND SOMETHING WRONG IN THERE OR I AM GOING TO FEEL EVERYTHING HOLY CRAP. And then bestie takes a shot of Rum and sends a virtual slap through the computer.
  9. I am subscribed to you! TheCurvyJones!
  10. Nice job Momroxx! Day 9 I think of liquid diet. I'm in like Flynn! down 7.8lbs which is awesome. Surgery Friday, but I am out from work after tomorrow. READY!
  11. Yes self pay in the US is pricy. I know you want to drive.... Where in TX are you? There is a gal on YouTube named vsg jean I think, that had hers done for $5k in puerto Vallarta. I mean... you have a good chunk of money and you might not even have to finance more if you get a little creative. Even if you could get $1k more you could come up with the balance and enough for airfare, maybe take a long weekend, go and come back. Im flying into San Antonio Thursday. Ill be back in Atlanta Sunday night. Maybe an option...plan C if you will. Last resort. You would miss more than a few days of classes... I wouldn't expect to be alert and ready for learning mere days after a sleeve. If hubby can't afford to go with, see if someone is having surgery the same day and buddy up. Plenty of people go alone. Try One Main. They have offices everywhere. Or whatever company took over citifinancial.... I was approved for a small amount thru them. Aside from a scammy place like cash call, which will own your soul long after you're at goal, I'm drawing a blank. Lets see if anyone has any ideas in the daylight.
  12. Another thing is... no one is here because we just have money to waste on a frivolous surgery. This isn't a facelift. Many of us have been where you are. We've all been in pain, we've all felt desperation. No one flounced out of work one day, withdrew $30K and decided to have surgery. We'v all had to go through this. Roll thru the insurance forum for a minute... every single person here is sitting with fingers crossed and eyes closed and offering to name their first born after their surgeon if they get approved. There is a wealth of info and SUPPORT at your fingertips, here. You are not alone. Not anymore. Please, please breathe. Let us help you. Come hell or high Water we will find a way to get you financed. But OMG.. unclench. Okay?
  13. We could go around and around here but all the salient points have been made. Don't mention God. Got it. Let's get down to business. Where have you applied and what has been the outcome? If you've been approved via one avenue chances are you'll be approved via another. Depending on your credit situation, there are a few peer to peer lending sites... the name escape me but I am sure they will come up in a search. Try Medicalfinancing!!! I want to say they're the only lending co that Dr A's office uses. Not sure but that's the only one listed on his website. I got my approval in fewer than 24 hours. Also his cash price is lower than his financing price. Financing price is 9100.Cash is 8700. How about a doc in CA that only charges $4500 for the sleeve? I think Dr Aceves, and maybe Dr Garcia are around that range??? Are you already approved for $4500 thru financing or that's what you have for a down payment? If it's the latter, that's less that you have to borrow and more chance that you'll be approved for other financing. If you don't want to go to Mexico, I think Dr Umbach is like 12 or 13K which might be a little out of your league. MedicalTourism might offer some other options as well. AVOID AVOID AVOID No Patient Left Behind! Payment terms are kind of scammy. There IS a program... out of California I think that allows a downpayment and then you pay the rest via financing...... anyone know the name of it? I totally can't think at 3am.
  14. My surgery with Dr Alvarez is this Friday. I applied thru MedicalFinacing.com and was approved and my credit is mot the best. The lender is Duvera. This was the ONLY lender that would approve me... except for One Main Financial which lent me what I needed upfront. There is a security deposit and fees which are not rolled into the loan totaling about $2800. I borrowed $3500 to pay for airfare and the fees.
  15. Personally, everything by Unjury except for the chicken Soup flavor is terrible.
  16. I freaking love these. I am drinking a bombdiggity pb Protein shake- a few cubes of ice, about... I dunno, 8 oz of almond milk, a pkg of pb flavor (and an additional dab of Peanut Butter........I really like peanut butter). Blend her up and aaaaaaaahhhhh. LOVE IT. I only got peanut butter and banana... Really sweet shakes don't appeal to me at all. I can't even imagine a shake that tastes like birthday cake. i might have got a couple of chocolate/peanut butter but I haven't tried it yet. I feel like they might need to be doctored up a bit... like the banana flavor is weak but I have some banana extract and might put a few drops in to boost it some. The PB one is good with a little bit of actual peanut butter. I agree that the amount of powder in the pkg seems to be way more than what one scoop would be from a container of powder.
  17. Oooh jello. I have some. I should get some. But that would require going downstairs.....
  18. I've heard of it but it seemed very experimental.
  19. Whenever you're ready to share that. I was following a gal on Youtube that didn't tell her man until he'd proposed. He didn't seem surprised.
  20. Surgery is Friday, have been on the liquid diet for a week. I chew gum to help me get by.
  21. You know what is annoying? Soup shopping. Ugh. My eating is getting boh-ring. It’s all chicken broth/soup and Atkins shakes. I started the liquid diet at 255.8 I think? Today 249.6. So that’s what, 5.8 lbs? I guess it’s not bad. I really expected to get below 250 before today but I just this morning hit 249. I had some pipe dream of 239 by day of surgery but that obviously isn’t gonna happen. I will be lucky to get to 245. Everything is going swimmingly. Did a little shopping last night to get my room together so I can hole up in there after surgery. Still have lots to do cleaning wise but its coming together. Trying to talk myself I to letting someone come clean…… I dunno man. Went to the salon to get some ackright up in my tresses. I can’t see fine ass Dr Alvarez withjacked up hair.
