  1. Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery. I can't tell you how thrilled I am at how things are going. I'm not going to say it has all been easy. Even though it doesn't look like I have had stalled, I have had lot of times where the scale will stay the same for 4 straight days in spite of me exercising and eating right. Just remember to think big picture. You will do great!

  2. just wandering how tall are you, and what is your goal weight? Great job, everyone losses at different rates.

I am 5'2". I'm not 100% sure of my goal weight because it has been over 15 years since I was even in the normal range when I hit 133 for about a week, but I think I'd like to stabilize somewhere between 115-125. The top end of the normal range is 136 for 5'2".

  3. Thanks joatsaint! I am trying not to get too down about it. I am really surprised that it is effecting my mood so much. I guess I just feel like I have been through so much and have eaten so little these last 21 days, that my weight would be falling off at this point. In my head, I know it will happen. There is a part of me, though, that is scared that this won't work for me.

  4. Hey, I don't want to butt in, but you might want to be careful with that potatoe soup. If it is made with milk, your new tummy may not be able to handle it. I am still pre-sleeve, but I've done a lot of research and the milk intolerance is very common. Congrats on being sleeved!!

  5. I'm also going to Dr. Alvarez. I am scheduled for January 18th. I told my mom in sort of a tricky way. First when I told her I was looking into this surgery with a local Dr. I then casually mentioned that there's a doctor who'd I really like to go to, who is the best and wrote a book about it, but I just didn't know. I mentioned that the VSG is the only surgery he does and that he won't even do lapbands anymore because of the complications that go with the band. She asked more about the the doc I mentioned. I then explained that he is in MX and everyone just raves about him, but I didn't know about going to MX. I then threw in that not only is he better and more experienced, but he's also less expensive than this local doc I was considering. She said, she'd go to MX to the better doctor. I couldn't believe it! Never in a million years did I think my mother would be supportive. She is very afraid of me becoming a diabetic and having to have shots the rest of my life.

At first she thought I was rushing into it, but when I told her I was looking into the lapband 5 years ago, but after researching it, I decided against it because of the complications, she realized how long I have been struggling and researching this. She was adamently opposed to the lapband. I read lots of posts to her from people on this board (and reviews of Dr. Alvarez) and it seemed to convince her. I feel incredibly lucky to have her support!
