  1. My friend had the surgery last July and her Hair loss is very evident. So before I had my surgery I started taking Biotin pills, actually I started taking all my Vitamins pre-surgery so they can start getting in my system. I did try prenatal pills me bloated all the time so I stopped. But my hair is constantly growing. I would suggest you look into taking the Biotin pills they are a big help

  2. I started taking the Vitamins about 2 months prior to the surgery so that it could build up in my system. The reason I did this is because my close friend had the surgery July 2012, and her hair came out very bad and now she is still loosing hair now and she is 8 months post. She does not take any vitamins at all. I know because of the surgery Hair loss could possible happen and I did not want to take any chances. I had surgery on December 28th, and I faithfully take my pills and actually my hair is growing no loss what so ever. I'm taking 10000 mcg of Biotin for the hair, skin, nails, and then my regular mutivitamin, B12, niacin. Hope this helps. Remember everyone situation is different

  3. Aetna is my insurance provider. Just to give you heads up on how it work with Aetna. There are steps that you must

take before approval and the post that you saw about being approved after 3 days is referencing after you have met all the PRE requirements. I got approved after 8 days but I had steps to complete as required by Aetna. 1)seminar, 2)3 months with a nutritionist or 6 months supervised by my primary doctor 4) psychiatrist evaluation 4)blood test 5)gall bladder scan. Because I was deadset on having the surgery by the time I went to my seminar I already contacted Aetna just to make sure that I qualified.I did my initial consult with the surgeon I done with all the steps except the gall bladder scan. So my whole process from start to finish was about 90 days. Aetna is pretty quick with approving the surgery as long as everything is done. I forgot pay the deductible that was last, the hospital would dnot take the money until they date was scheduled.

  4. I am almost weeks out and I also take Biotin, I upped my dosage to 5000 mcg but twice a daily. I have biotin Shampoo and conditioner actually my hair has grown and gotten much thicker. I was very paranoid about the hairloss so I started the biotin regimen about 2 weeks prior to surgery, you can also take a Multivitamin in addition to the biotin for strong hair and nails. So far this is working for me, hope this help:)

  5. I mentioned it to my direct manager as "idea" that I was thinking about even though I was taking the steps to have the surgery. Once I was

approved I then told my manager that she will be receiving notification from the insurance company about my leave, you do not have to tell

them exactly the reason for the leave that between you and HR but because I report directly to her I let her know as a courtesy that I will

be taking off for 8 weeks. Im 3 weekss post op now

  6. Yes, I have the same feeling, but remember your stomach is smaller so your going to lose weight anyways. Some days I could go without eating simply because I didn't feel like it. But I make sure I keep my liquids in to keep from dehydrating myself. I still havent figured out the eating thing either(lol) this week I started doing smoothies with juice instead of milk, milk makes me feel icky. I'm on the full liquids until my 5th week. Your doing good with the

weightloss so far and you will continue to good. Just stay healthy and take it one day at a time.

  7. I have liquid Multivitamins and my Biotin and niacin pills I chop up with my

smoothies, but you can get your Vitamins from anywhere. I dont taste them when i put them in my smoothies, maybe try them at different time of the day as well. Some

doctors try and make you buy theirs so they can make money, but you can get the

vitamins anywhere, they are Vitamins its no special kind, get something that works for you. Good luck:)

  8. I had the same experience this seems to be normal. But remember to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Make sure your getting all of your Vitamins in especially the B12. I am 3 weeks out and I thought something was wrong with me but as I kept pushing

eventually I was ok. I had to remember your body heals with rest so if your tired

then sleep/rest. It gets better, I still have some days where I get exhausted and

on those days I just relax and take it easy. Good Luck:)

  9. I think you are doing good because you are getting cardio in. Over time your body will build up as it gets

stronger, dont get discouraged just keep it moving. I'm 3 weeks out and I jumped on the staid machine and thought I was going to pass out, I was devastated because before surgery I was able to do 35-45 minutes but I had to realize my body is going through a transformation, so now I alternate between the stair machine 30 minutes,

treadmill 30 minutes and alternating the bike. I was walk/jogging too, yeah Imma wait for that until I get

stronger. I also walk in the mornings on a nature trail for 45 minutes(I get bored with the gym) I figure as

long as I keep moving I will see results. Good Luck, your doing awesome keep it moving

  10. I make two weeks tomorrow and Im still on phase 2 until the 5th week is when I can start eating eggs per the diet the doctor has given me. All I eat is Soups, Water, Protein Shakes, popsicles, yogurt, broth, jello and cottage cheese. My problem is making sure I get all my Protein in and eating when I dont feel like it and for some reason I cannot stomach the sugar free pudding when I loved pudding before.

  11. Well congrats to all that been sleeved on this thread.....I'm still going through the supervised diet visits and I am on month #3 and have to complete 4months with Aetna. I'm trying to stay positive but I was already told that since I have a lower BMI (39.1) that Aetna may not approve it. I am still going through the process so that I know for sure.....I'm hoping 2013 will be my year of getting sleeved..... :)

Don't get discouraged, my BMI was like 35 and I had no medical issues at all just being overweight and I told the doctors I needed to have surgery as a preventative measure. Everyone experience is difference, but one thing I would tell you is to look up Aetna policy for weightloss and you can call and speak with a rep and they will tell you EXACTLY the qualifications and you would see that you should be fine. My mind use to race with many different thoughts and possibilities, I got sleeved on 12/28/12 and doing great. Get with the coordinator for the surgeon and they have been doing this many ties and know what to submit for approval. I did not have to do any sleep studies, only psych eval, 6mos,2 year weight history and that was it.
