Be patient with your body and yourself. Everyone that I have talked to had a three week stall for 1-2 weeks. You are losing inches but not pounds during this time. So stay off the scale and just pay attention to how your clothes are fitting looser. Also make sure you are drinking Water, your body tends to hold onto everything it can right now because its in starvation mode. It will keep coming off just hang in there

Got sleeved November 19th! Day 5 and I am feeling great! Only took 1 tsp of Roxicet for pain at bedtime. Hope to not take any pain meds today! And I'm down 4 pounds too! Also my heating pad has been amazing!

I was sleeved 2 weeks ago today. I am down 13 lb since surgery but 23 since pre op diet. Today I get to have pureed food. What timing for mashed potato and pumpkin pie. I can hardly wait!

My surgery was also Monday, November 19th. I didn't have any complications and was able to go home about 3:30p on Tuesday afternoon. I have no appetite or desire to eat food! I am working up to 64oz of Clear Liquids today! I gained 10lbs from the surgery, but I am already down 5lbs.

My surgery went very well. I got to leave the hospital Tuesday afternoon. I was not able to pass any gas until last night though. Since I was moving around so well they weren't concerned. I also had trouble with my bladder waking up, but now things are going well. It is hard to get enough Water in. Big sips= big chest pain. It's the weirdest thing. The worst part for me is all the nasty medications they make you take. I'm on a stool softner twice a day (nasty tasting!), prilosec liuid (super NASTY), ,liquid pain medication (the lesser of nastiness)...
I HIGHLY recommend a heating pad. I slept with one the entire night in the hospital and last night at home too. It helped A LOT.
I was up walking as much as I could. Actually, they had me do less than I wanted to do, but that was okay.
Stage 1 foods the first part after surgery. The next morning they changed it to Stage 2 foods, full, smooth liquids.< /p>
I did a barium swallow the morning after surgery, and that went good. No leaks.
I did have a couple moments when I cried and wondered what in the world I did to myself. I'm not in a whole lot of pain, but there is definite discomfort. The worst incision pain is the biggest one. It like indented and deformed my stomach in that spot. It's quite gross... my husband has been really good and supportive. He's calmed me down and reminded me of the reasons I did the procedure. It will get better. The first part just hasn't been overly fun.
Also, my mom commented that I already look like I've lost weight since the surgery.. so I went in and weighed myself to find that I gained 12 pounds. That made me laugh. Water weight... but still!! I wasn't planning on weighing myself at all until my 2 week post op appt. We will see if I can hold off until then from now on.
Good luck to all those getting sleeved soon!

blessedw2 reacted to Stacy160 in The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!
Things I took that I needed and used:
- Chap Stick, #1 by far
- SF Ricola lozenges... sooooo dry with the oxygen
- Gas X strips
- Listerine strips
- Book (barely used, hard to stay awake to read long), glasses
- Cell phone
- Deodorant and baby wipes to clean up some before going home next day
Things I took and did NOT need or use:
- Robe and slippers
- Makeup (pah--right, as if lol)
- iPod (can't sleep with music anyway, so I'm gonna stare at the walls while I listen?)
Wear what you plan on wearing home, you'll only be in it a couple of hours anyway. Also, even though I turned on the TV for maybe an hour, I got a bill for it from some external company (not the hospital) -- only $5, but it's the principle of the thing. Had no idea I'd have to pay for the damn thing, so clarify that before you decide you want it on.

blessedw2 reacted to 920amy in Introducing Me... Getting Sleeved On Monday Nov 19
Sippsters! Welcome! Yahoo for you!! Congrats to happyfam too! I'm glad you gals have come out of the woodwork, so to speak, and I'm even more excited for both of you that you are on your way to success!! I was just sleeved Nov 3rd in Tijuana Mexico, I was self pay, and I went through ALighterMe, the total cost was $4,750. I can't even begin to tell you what a life changing journey this has been for me, even in such a short period of time! First, to address your worries about hunger, for me, I have zero hunger after this surgery. When your stomach is removed, they remove the part of your stomach that contains ghrelin, which is the hunger hormone that causes hunger. This is not to say I haven't been head hungry (Had the desire to eat), but physically, no hunger to speak of. This is a HUGE relief for me! I am (was?) I foodie extrordinaire! I am thankful not to feel the hunger pains, the toughest part for me has been being sure I get everything in in a day! I know it sounds silly now, but when you have a stomach the size of a highlighter pen, it really is a chore to get in 64 oz of Water AAND 60 grams of protien. Every surgeon is different, and has different diets, I know I am on clear liquids until I am exactly two weeks out, and then I can start on protien shakes and progress from there. It may sound like a blessing now that your surgeon says you can go straight to pureed protien, but I would still get some shakes, since the liquid in those will count toward your water intake, and the last thing any of us needs is to get dehydrated! A lot of people reccommend in the early stages sugar free popsicles, but for me, warmer liquids go down much better and feel better in my tummy. I'm not allowed caffine, so I have a bunch of green tea, and herbal berry teas (blueberry is my fav!) As far as getting through Thanksgiving, I am going to Vegas on vacation with my husband, just me and him, and if he wants to pig out on Turkey and ham and all the fixings, I am sure there will be PLENTY of all you can eat buffets he can go crazy on! My biggest tips from my experience would be to have plenty of liquid protien, I drink Isopure, and I have unflavored protien powder I add to stuff. Also, I ordered a TON of protien powder samples from all kinds of manufacturers to try once I am on the protien shake phase. Don't try them now, because your tastes will DRASTICALLY change once you have this surgery, I can't explain it, but they just will. THings that were gross before suddenly taste great, and vice versa. I would be happy to talk to either of you about my experience! I am glad you both popped up, and I look forward to you two being able to share in this success! It will happen!! Congrats again!

blessedw2 reacted to BKMama in The Change In Mindset Is So Nice...
So, I hit 50 lbs lost (YAY!!) and I started to think of how this would typically be the point where I'd fall off that metaphorical wagon of dieting. At this point, your clothes are hanging off and people are more than likely noticing that you're losing weight. Before, having people notice would scare the CRAP out of me. I felt like OMG, the pressure is on to keep losing because they expect it. Unfortunately, when I'm feeling pressured/anxious/scared/etc, I turn to food....cue falling off the wagon and gaining the weight back. Lather, rinse, repeat.
It is SO NICE not having to worry about that this time around. Instead of being afraid or scared I'm hopeful and looking forward to the next 50 and the next 50 after that. A few people have noticed and it feels so good to accept the compliment and not internalize the pressure and freak myself out. I take the compliment and move on with my day with a big smile. I have never been able to do that before. It feels FABULOUS!!
