First real "encounter" since the surgery (lots of fooling around, but yesterday was... the full meal deal). And... guys... wow. GET THIS SURGERY.
Before the surgery, I was a real "one minute wonder" (if I could even get lucky; at 338, it doesn't happen much). I would be panting and wheezing and see spots, and I was lucky to even be able to finish. I was used to the woman not... finishing, either.
    Yesterday.
    SEVEN. HOURS.
She had more... moments of joy than I could count (maybe 12? 15? 20?), and I had... THREE.
THREE. In one night! Guys, I'm 42. That just doesn't HAPPEN to guys my age.
And it certainly never happened before the sleeve.
Good god, men, if you have ANY problems in that area at all and are pre-sleeve, RUN, don't walk, and get the surgery.
UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE. I thought that stuff only happened in porno movies...
Ok, I'll shut up now. But... wow.
    Sore... exhausted... and happy
Edit: uh, it wasn't seven hours continuously, I should mention... 8pm till 3am, but not all, uh, action. Even at my current fitness level, that WOULD kill me. Seven hours of go... rest, chat, laugh... go... rest, chat, laugh... repeat until too sore and exhausted to continue! And NOW I WILL shut up.

Um, the outside has shrunk, but the inside seems the same at 9 months out and 100 pounds lighter. As a matter of fact, things seem to fit better/deeper these days. TMI?

I have been waiting for this for sooooo long!
I have finally made it possible financially to schedule my surgery! I don't know if I want to cry or shout.
I don't have a date scheduled yet, but I have my doctor picked out, and I am working on getting my passport so I can go down to OCC!
This is a very long time coming and I am so happy. It is like a load has been lifted off my shoulders and I haven't even lost any weight yet. lol... Its this dream that has always been off in the far future is now tangible and close enough to be real. I know I have a long road ahead of me, and not all of it will be easy. But my life is going to change, I am going to be happy and free to live like I have always wanted. This is going to be a great summer and an amazing year! I can't wait to share it with all of you.

I went with Obesity Control Center as it is an International Center of Excellence .. Dr. Ariel Ortiz. The price is in between the others that have been stated. I signed an agreement that I would disclose the price. You spend one night in the Clinic and 4 nights in the Mariott which includes, chicken broth, popsicles, Water, etc. Excellent staff and care. He is located in Tijuana, Mexico. The Hotel shuttle takes you back and forth to the clinic and the OCC van takes you back and forth between the San Diego Airport or car in the United States if you drove. You go to the clinic every day for follow-ups while you are at the hotel. He gives you his cell phone number to call if you have any problems and tells you to call day or night.

The Dr had me take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. I did that a few times and it was out. No pain, I didnt feel a thing. Others complained that it was bothering while inside and it was a relief to have it out. It didnt bother me either way. I am just lucky I guess.

Ugh, I feel your pain. When I was still in pureed stage (thankfully) my mom wanted Popeye's Fried chicken. She's 78, and who am I to deny her a little comfort food.
Little did I know that the aroma of freshly fried chicken in my car would trigger and unleash the only "craving" I've had so far. I promptly dropped off the demon chicken, opened all the windows in my car (even though it was bout 2 degrees out) and drove around the block several times to let it air out before driving home.
Note to self. Have someone else get mom her fix.

I work in a small office and today they ALL decided to order some delicious steak fries from a local deli. THEY SMELL AMAZING!!! The smell of fried potatoes and salt and ketchup is all around me and I can't escape!!!! I am barely 2 weeks post-op and still on a full liquid diet so obviously I won't sneak one but I just wanted to vent my "frustration" to all my sleeve buddies who know how I feel. Thanks for listening...I'll go back to my Protein Drink and try to think about something else now. lol

I've been on the preop diet for 7 weeks now. It's not hard. You can DO IT!
Also futuresleever, I really CAN'T afford going to Mexico either. I had to really scrimp and save. Keep fighting your insurance, but also keep putting away pennies.. I didn't have an extra $4500 laying around that's for sure! Where there is a will there is a way! Don't give up!

Well I consider myself very blessed bc my parents are paying for mine. I just had to pay for the flight for me and my husband. My ultimate goal is 140. Anything less would be icing on the cake (haha). At 140 I would be wearing a size 5/6. I've been 160 and wore an 8 (and was literally starving myself to death...miserable), so I think thats a pretty accurate guess. That's about 110 lbs to lose. To be honest, I will be THRILLED when I get to 160...but I've heard plenty of sleevers say "don't sell yourself short" and "shoot for the moon" so to me 140 is a dream weight.

ATX Girl, my husband and I were very pleased with our experience at the OCC. Read my above post for more detail. The day after surgery we felt well enough to walk and found a little store up the street i block, cross at the light that had fabulous mango, watermelon, and lemon-lime popsicles. We loved the hotel and met really interesting people that were having the same surgery. Good luck, you will do fine.

My husband and I had surgery in Tijuana at the Obesity Control Clinic. We are both Board Certified Family Practice physicians in the US. We were very pleased with all aspects of our care. We did meticulous research and sent for their C.V's (resumes) to look at the education and training of the physicians involved. We felt their credentials were excellent. We then were very comfortable traveling to Mexico for our care. We flew into San Diego, were met at baggage claim at the airport and then transferred to the clinic via van. The clinic is a full service surgical center. This appealed to us because they only did bariatric surgery and plastic surgery which then prevented exposure to infection from "dirty" cases. This dramatically decreases antibiotic resistant infections. We spent one night inpatient and then were transferred to a wonderful Marriott Hotel. We had the physicians cellphone numbers and were brought back to the clinic daily for reevaluation. The postop recovery was easy and the pain involved very minor. Good luck with your surgery.

I went to Mexico and am extremely happy with my decision. I had my surgery done I. Tijuana with Dr. Almanza. The staff was very nice and took great care of everyone... better care than I received in US hospitals. They shared stories and many laughs.
The surgery was $4,500. I flew into San Diego and was picked up by the staff and taken across the border- about a 20 minute drive to the clinic. They took blood, did an EKG, and we went in order of BMI. There were 8 others there with me from the US getting the surgery done which was nice. Met friends and it made time fly by, especially when we would go out shopping at night.
The clinic holds a dinner cruise each year for patients to come back and show off their sexy selves
Lastly, my surgery was checked out by a US surgeon and the doc said it looks better than some of his colleagues work. Yay!!

Yes, my husband is supportive. He "gets it". He's been right there with me through my bariatric program last year, insurance denial, and exploring self-pay options in Mexico. I know what I am getting into and what a huge commitment it is. I'm not looking for a quick fix, I'm looking for a long term aid to help me regain my health.
I know my Mom loves me and she's just scared for me. But - geez....I'm a little nervous too! This is a big deal!
