    Toddler spoon

I used baby spoons in the beginning also. It helped train me to recognize a good bite size for me. I also bought 3 coffee cup warmers (I keep one downstairs, 1 upstairs and one at work). I still use them to this day because I can take down warm liquids much better than cold ones. Plus I like decaf tea way more than any flavored water.

    day 2 of surgery

I had trouble taking my water in and they werent going to release me either so my surgeon suggested WARM liquids like decaf tea. That did the trick. He said that some new tummies spasm due to the cold or even room temperature water. I got down 3 ounces in a snap and was feeling much better, started walking more and bam, released. Why not give it a try.

    Music to my ears!

Congrats on your success!! Im also 9 months out and down 93 pounds. I LOVE hearing 'cute outfit' or 'wow, you look great'. I certainly have not gotten tired of hearing it. Soak it up, you deserve it!
  7. Im 9 months out and feel normal a good 95% of the time too. I can pretty much eyeball how much my tummy can hold and drink all day long (except right after eating of course). It really does become a habit. I say 'no' a lot when offered sugary snacks or if I really want it, I eat just the top of the cupcake but my sugar cravings are not what they used to be. Im down 93 pounds in 9 months, 7 pounds from goal so Im losing pretty slow right now just because Im almost to goal but my way works. I dont stress about it. And as a habit, I always keep a 100 calorie pack of almonds or a protein bar in my purse so I dont make a bad decision when Im away from home. Easy peezy lemon squeezy

    popcorn

I worried about the same thing. The only time I ever ate popcorn was at the movies (the worst kind and the most delicious kind). Luckily I only go to the movies maybe once every 2 months. Since thats the case, I bring a plastic baggy with me and steal a little bit of my hubbys popcorn and fix it the way I like it before he dumps all kinds of salt on it. So the baggy that I have I make last, I still get to enjoy my super delicious movie popcorn and am not tempted to eat my hubbys because of all the salt. It works for me. Speaking of popcorn, I havent been to movies in a while. I think its time to see a flick (just for the popcorn lol).

    Hi Everyone…

I also went thru the Center of Excellence but my surgeon is Dr. Paul Guske. Just so happens that after my sleeve Dr. Guske had to perform a hernia repair and emergency appendectomy on me so he and I are tight lol. Anyway, great organization. Love the Kane Center! As far as pureed foods, I loved puree'ing turkey meatballs with some ricotta or having refried Beans with sour cream or any cream of Soup strained. I wasnt on purees for very long since I had advanced rather quickly but everyone is different. Good luck and congrats on your sleeve!

    Final question

The only 'problem' that I have is that I have heartburn every day and have to take a PPI every morning and depending on what I eat I might have to take an antacid later on but other than that one thing, no problems.

    Lettuce

    Cute lol

    Lettuce

I think everyone is different as far as what they can tolerate. I can tolerate everything Ive tried. Salads dont give me a problem. I can actually fit in a good amount of lettuce but I make sure to put some chicken or shrimp or at least a hard boiled egg to capatilize on getting protein in.

    is this normal

Im 9 months out and can only get in 2 ounces of dense food like chicken or beef and about 3 ounces of a lighter food like tilapia. 1 egg with a little cheese fills me up pretty good. Id say my restriction is still holding strong. I have learned which foods are slider foods though and do my best to avoid them. It freaks me out how much slider food I can take down. Since I dont like being freaked out, I avoid it.
  15. Im a little over 9 months and absolutely still on my honeymoon period. Each time I do something new that I couldnt do 93 pounds ago it renews my drive and determination. It keeps me going! Im 7 pounds from my goal and at this point Im losing even slower then months ago but its ok. I would love to lose 2 pounds a week, thats really good. I might lose 2 pounds every 3 weeks nowadays. Maybe Ill reach my goal by my 1 year anniversary. If not, Im ok with it. Since my sleeve surgery Ive had 2 other surgies where I could not workout and I still dropped weight. One was a ventral hernia and the other was an emergency appendectomy. Completely unrelated to my sleeve surgery by the way. But instead of occupying my mind about the pounds, I occupy it with new things to try and do. Hang in there and dont get discouraged. You are doing great!

How much do you save on food?

Our grocery bill is half of what it used to be. We could easily spend $200 every 2 weeks and now we dont ever need to 'stock up', we just buy things here and there. Eating out is wayyyy cheaper too. Ill have a couple bites of the hubbys food and a cup of soup or something like that. But I do spend that money on lots of cute skinny clothes now

    Whats for dinner?

Either a tilapia filet with salsa ontop or a couple ounces of chicken with salsa ontop. A friend at work made a huge jar of fresh salsa from his garden so I eat it with everything now lol.

    Not eating enough

I dont really get hungry perse. I feel 'empty'. So I just make sure by looking at the clock to eat a couple of ounces of protein every 2 - 3 hours while drinking in between. It will seem like a chore at the beginning but now its a habit. Some days it feels like I ate SO much because I had 4 or 5 little meals and then I end up breaking thru a stall. Go figure.

    Clothing sizes?

Thats how I started too. I was well over 40 pounds lost and only went down 1 size. I was a little confused but then it seemed like every 10 - 15 afterwards I went down another size. I started in a screaming 18 (I say screaming because I know the seams on my pants were in pain) and now Im in a super comfy 10, sometimes an 8. Im down 93 pounds so far. Just dont buy too many things until you are in a lower number if thats your goal.

    Second sleep study!

Years ago I did my sleep study because thankfully my husband realized I stopped breathing when I slept. I of course thought he was full of it. But off I went. Had my first one to determine if I had it and turns out it was severe. Went for the second one to see if a CPAP helped and which kind I could tolerate. I couldnt tolerate the full face one, I had the nasal pillow one. When I used it I loved it because I woke so rested and really got deep sleep but now that Ive lost almost 100 pounds, my apnea is cured and I no longer need it. I was actually able to stop using it after a 50 pound loss. Now my hubby says I dont even snore. Yeah for both of us lol.
  21. Ive never regretted one minute. The only day that I said "what did I do?" was the day after surgery. But that went away and Ive been loving life ever since. Im 9 months out, 93 pounds down, doing things I only dreamed of. Just recently went to Hawaii wth the hubby and zip-lined, snorkeled in the tide pools, hiked the Waipio Valley, did another 6 mile round trip hike, climbed mountains, did yoga on a cliff overlooking the ocean and walked around 'all natural' (if you catch my drift) a lot much to my hubbys enjoyment lol. The sleeve has changed my life or should I say 'saved' my life. I completely understand the saying "nothing tastes as good as 'healthy' feels" now. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

    Extra time--what to do

My lunch hours at work consist of my few minutes of getting in my couple of ounces of protein then I either take a long walk, read a book in my car, go shopping for cute clothes that I can wear now, crochet, get my nails done, etc. I have lots more time for all the things I love to do. Thats just when Im at work. When Im at home, I have a studio that I make stuff in and get lost in there for hours. Even in front of the tv I try to keep my hands busy so I dont snack out of habit or boredom. My husband and I recently went on vacation and we occupied our time hiking, snorkeling, zip lining, etc. Food wasnt a priority, making memories were.

Need to get back on track!

Thanks so much for the Basic Bootcamp info. Im at yet another plateau and at this point my slow loss is even slower now. Not complaining because Im actually grateful for the slow and steady but Im 7 pounds from my goal of 100 lost and feel like I want to kick start myself again. Ill give this a go
  24. I did the same thing. Gave my husband a sealed envelope with all of my account info and passwords. Then I wrote him a really long love note I did let him read the love note when I got home though.
  25. Going to Hawaii tomorrow 90 pounds lighter with my wonderful husband and a whole list of activities to enjoy. We will be hiking, biking, zip lining and snorkeling :) Aloha!
