I'm hoping this is the key to my success... Like many other stories I've read on this site, I too have tried just about every diet known to man/woman. I do well for a period of time and fall off the wagon and never seem to get back on track. This has been ongoing since the birth of my daughter (who is now 17 and graduating). I'm over 100 pounds overweight but have no significant health related issues YET. I have a medium to large frame and have a great deal of lean muscle mass already, which I'm hoping will make this journey a bit easier.
I'm scheduled to have the sleeve gastrectomy done on Halloween this year (10-31-12), and I have 113 lbs to lose to reach my goal weight. I'm excited about having this procedure done because one of my main problems in the past is that I can diet as long as I have willpower. But when it comes to eating I just don't achieve that full feeling. I can eat with the best of them! I could eat 2 large cheeseburgers, chips and dips and the wash it down with a few pitchers of beer. Most people would feel sick from that amount of food alone. Makes it very difficult to diet when you don't have an internal trigger to tell you that you are full. So I'm hoping this surgery does just that. I feel like my motivation and intentions are where they need to be and I want this more than anything.
I hope that with the support from my wonderful daughter and boyfriend I will be able to accomplish this goal. It has also been helpful to me to read about other peoples' journeys along the way, it helped me formulate questions to ask my dietician and surgeon. So thank you all as well!
