  1. I love ahi! Especially kim chee ahi mmmm
  2. What protein shakes do you drink?
  3. I hope she recover soon.
  4. I personally do not look at it as a skeleton in my closet. I believe that some of those feelings derive from the way society view obese people. Once you become comfortable with the decision you made, it will be easier to share with others. And if that person is for you, they will be happy that you did something to become healthier. If they aren't, don't waste your time on him. The way I share my surgery with people, is I make it light and funny. Usually the response I get is thst you're not that big...why did you have it or thst you look good. So I end up explaining my reasoning about being unhealthy. Good luck to you! His DUI is much worst than your WLS...
  5. Put it in a crockpot and slow cook it. The meat will be juicy and tender!
  6. I can't really elaborate on the post op diet as I was a self pay in MX. But what I do know is that diets don't work and if I look at this like a diet then I will fell. I make better choices about what goes into my mouth, I drink alot of water and low cal drinks, and I don't eat junk food. Not because I am on a diet but because those things do not add any nutritional value to my diet. Now if I want some ice cream, I will have me a couple of tablespoons of the real thing and it satisfies my craving. If I am eating guacamole and want chips instead of my peppers, I will have about 5 chips or so. I dont overindulged anymore. Some foods are slidders, but I am not eating just to eat. Now some individuals will disagree. Some people plan on sticking yo dieting until they reach their goal weight, but IMO if I did that I would have not learned how to live a normal life with normal food if I am constantly dieting. To each its own though, and through trial and error we know what works for us in the end.
  7. I am curious as well, please keep us updated.

  9. If you have a NUT, you should check with them. I am six weeks out and have had a salad several weeks ago. Some people cannnot tolerate the lettuce early out, so if you try it make sure you take small bites and chew thoroughly. After only a few bites, you will be full.
  10. You are doing great! Try not to compare yourself with othetrs because it can be a real ego killer.
  11. I for one didn't have the sleeve to be on a diet for the rest of my life! For my snacks (if I can fit them in) I eat whatever. i choose to, but it mostly include fruit, cheese, cup of choc milk, and wheat thins. If I have a taste for ice cream, I will have a tablespoon or two. Seafood and some chicken feels better eating than beef. But I have been able to pretty much eat anything with no adverse reaction especially salad and.eggs.
  12. Thanks! I really don't understand how she could have totally misinterpreted what I wrote. I guess sometime the ugly truth can hurt if we are not yet ready to take some accountability for the role that we sometime play. I am not saying the OP is wrong because ppl like that exist, I am only stating that sometimes we use certain defense mechanisms to shield us from experiencing a past negative reaction or comment or anything we have gotten from someone.
  13. I get that same thing in regard to my smile and having a pretty face I have always hated when people offered (whst I perceived at least) an insult disguised as a compliment. It's kinda like someone telling an individual to "bless his/ her heart" if you are from the south thats a person being nicenasty and it has an underlying meaning. And you definitely will!
  14. Wow, I apologize if this hit a nerve for you, but if you carefully reread my post you will see that I was not judging anyone but giving a personal account of how I and other people who are overweight can be non-approachable. Especially at my heaviest, I really didnt want to be seen or noticed or talked to by anyone because I didnt want to be noticed even more as being the overweight fat girl who has a problem saying no food. Everything that you stated above MUST be how YOU feel about YOURSELF and how you believe others perceive YOU to be....because in no way did I insinuate or come even close to those things!
  15. I can definitely tell that I will be a slow loser. The bright side of that is that since my weight will be coming off slowly, it may give my skin some time to "bounce back".
  16. I am still early out, but I think some time people that are overweight can have a look or demeanor about them which makes them unapproachable. When I don't want to deal with people, I display that look. Even though I am overweight I still get alot of attention and noticed by both sexes. Whether its a compliment on my looks or wardrobe or someone trying to flirt. So while I know alot of overweight people say thst they were treated differently sometimes it's because of the energy we are giving off. Just an opinion from a different perspective.
  17. You look amazing and very young! You are definitely an inspiration!
  18. My family is in that area.
  19. Are you adding any weight when you do the squats or just using your body weight?
  20. The only odd ball I had is that I spent my entire night throwing up saliva and what appeared to be alot of blood. Even then I still had totally faith in my doctors abilities and knew I had made the right decision. The next morning after talking to one of my physicians about it, she informed me that she thought that might happen because my ethnicity has a high sensitivity to anesthesia on top of having major surgery.
  21. If you have an HEB in your area, they carry a brand called Mootoopia (non fat) that gives you 12g of protein! Just started buying that and choc milk for a snack.
  22. Backstreet. Dang auto correct! He he he
  23. Oftentimes people do not know what they would do until they are left with no alternative. Did I want to go to MX at first? Heck no! Surgeries being done on a couch, me being left butt-naked for everyone to see my goodness and lets not talk about the complications. I knew I didn't have the patience to wait for my insurance, so I did my research on MX and medical tourism. And guess what??? All those stereotypical views of a "third world country" (as you say), was a bunch of bull! Now I am sure black street surgeons exist everywhere, but you should definitely do your own research and educate yourself a little more on the subject matter before making harsh comments about other decisions just because your perception of MX are based off of movies and talk shows.
