  1. Prayers for both your BIL and your entire family.
  2. I have no other choice, I have to walk my big pooch.....he is loving the long walks.
  3. Don't feel bad, I'm well behind you and like you I'm trying to kick it up a notch. By the end of next month I hope to be doing 10,000 steps daily.
  4. Before piling on the weight I loved to walk and could walk for miles. Now I'm getting back into walking (using my FITBIT) and I must say I'm enjoying it again. Loving that I'm not huffing and puffing climbing the stairs. I'm averaging 6400 steps (2 1/2 miles) during the week and 800 steps (3 1/2 miles) on the weekends. I hope to increase my steps and miles by the end of the month. Who's walking and how many miles and steps do you take daily?
  5. I was a diet Pepsi drinker and haven't had any problem giving it up. Maybe taking a look at the bigger picture of being healthier might help. Sometimes giving up something is not as bad as you think it will be.
  6. I didn't eat anything, I progressed from liquids, purée and then regular foods on schedule.
  7. I took off 3 weeks just to make sure I had the water and food routine in place. I actually could have gone back to work earlier because I felt fine after the surgery, but it was nice to have the time off to relax.
  8. Awe, hopefully it will get better. Unfortunately this thread will probably get jacked too.
  9. LOL, cute.
  10. Friends are with you when you need them, she isn't a friend. It's very simple, friends don't act like that.
  11. I absolutely do believe you can lose weight, the key is to stay focused and be determined. You must also realize that Rome wasn't built in a day and losing the weight won't be done that easily either. Know that sometimes it will be easy other times not so much. If you are determined it WILL happen. Good luck.
  12. I don't mind sharing with others that I had weight loss surgery. It's not a secret and I'm not embarrassed about my choice. People are going to gossip whether you are fat, thin or normal, I just give them one less thing to gossip about. Lol I have yet to have any negative responses. It's my opportunity to educate the ill informed. From those I have told the responses have been inquisitive and some have requested the surgeons contact information. If I can help someone else just by sharing my story, then I'm happy.
  13. I scheduled my surgery prior to approval, all part of my plan. Total of 3 months.
  14. I have Cigna and my approval was fairly easy, with one minor bump. The first thing I did prior to meeting with a surgeon was to contact Cigna (self funded PPO) to verify WLS coverage and to calculate my estimated out of pocket expenses. Once armed with that information I started the process. From my first visit to date of surgery it was 3 months. I would suggest you sign into Mycigna.com to verify and find info on your coverage.
  15. My surgeon did not require a lengthy Pre op liquid diet other than the Pre op magnesium citrate cleanse along with Clear Liquids one day prior to surgery. I have not suffered any complications as a result of a different Pre op plan. My BMI was very high and post surgery my weight loss has been consistent and steady. Hope this helps.
  16. Perhaps both are just happy where they are with their weight and life choices. We all have different reasons why we made the choice to have surgery.
  17. Yep,quite a bit smaller than normal sizes this is a tough one.
  18. There are so many things that could be wrong, but I would strongly suggest you visit your primary care physician or an ENT. Sometimes surgeons may not be as well versed in things that are commonly seen by your regular physician.
  19. Good for you! Mistakes made should always be lessons learned. Whenever someone mentions McDonald's nuggets you will probably cringe.
  20. I wouldn't pack either, if you are just going to hospital I would wear their gowns, they are just going to be poking and prodding on you. Besides one less thing to decontaminate when you return home.
  21. I seriously do not think I will miss anything, I've said it before and will say it again, What you see is what you get. I'm basically the same person just smaller.
  22. I would suggest like everyone SLOWLY! I too have a bum knee and in no way will I be overdoing it. Right now I'm walking on the treadmill in the mornings for 30mins and in the evenings for 30mins. In the morning after do my routine on the treadmill I walk the dog for 1/2 hour. During the day I try to get up and walk several times and ALWAYS take the stairs (I know it is bad on the knees, but not as bad when the pounds are dropping off). When I come home from work I walk the dog for 1/2 hour and back on the treadmill. I also park the furthest from the store/mall, etc. so that I have to walk. I also mix in situps, squats, resistance band exercises and stability ball exercises at home. Slow and steady.
  23. Not a requirement, but I always get a flu shot. For me it was a no brainer.
