Shocked by other Patients Choices immediatly after surgery
You have a very valid point, especially if your insurance made it a requirement. It could only help.

Nothing surprises me, some aren't ready for the commitment.

Super Bowl Sunday and Restricted diet, Plans?
I don't have a dog in the fight so I really don't have a favorite. I'm a lifelong GIANTS fan. I have a couple of boxes from work, but the numbers aren't that great. I hope it's a good game, not a blowout.

Had Chinese food today - never again!
I'm sure all will go well. I had mine the second week of January, all is good.

Pre-OP Party Ideas
I didn't do anything spectacular, just normal things. The one thing I wish that both of my parents were here to see me reach my goal. My big party will be in another year.

QUESTION!?
You do know that you are on a site with many people who have in the past made unhealthy food choices, who have paid for those bad habits, yet are now trying to correct the past. It just goes to show you that sometimes it's not about what we ingest, but sometimes our body makeup. I think it's a good thing that we have options like the sleeve to put us on the path of a healthier life. Now to those who have been sleeved, is this a huge change from the amount of calories you were eating before surgery? Yes, it is a change.....no more ice cream, candy....

Chinese food can be torture. I stick with the chicken satays, and maybe some steamed veggies. I hope you feel better. Have you had your post-op lab check up yet?

What is the best sweetner for tea?
If its sugar-free, I would go with Equal or spenda.

CHIRRRACHA
It is very tasty. I'm trying to figure out if I'll ever be able to eat REAL Habanero Sauce again. I love hot foods.

Super Bowl Sunday and Restricted diet, Plans?
You will definitely be tested, but go prepared with your liquids and focus on the fun not the food. I know it will be hard.

Reality check..... Knee high boots
I agree with others on taking the boots back. Nordstrom has the best retail return policy going. Don't be sad, you might be able to find a nicer pair of boots next year and they might be on sale during Nordstrom's Half Yearly sale.

Fat, Normal or Skinny
I don't know.....I didn't have any pain, gas or nausea after the surgery, and everything else seems easy to me (I know this may change and I'm up for the challenge when and if that happens.) Maybe I can attribute my experience to where I am in life, my attitude and outlook on life. I think it's good to be mentally prepared for change and if you aren't ready it will be harder to manage. A book and workbook that was helpful for me was "The Beck Diet Solution, Train your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person" by Judith S. Beck. It is an invaluable investment.

Hair
. Seems like that is the case. Yeah, it's not pleasant losing hair and for me if it continues I'll cut it all off. After all losing hair is not the worst thing in life that can happen right? I guess I'll just have to wait and see. As long as the weight keeps coming off, I'm GOOD!

Fat, Normal or Skinny
For those who have already had vertical sleeve surgery surgery, did you have the surgery to become a normal size or to be skinny, skinny seems to be a theme on some of the posts? I had the surgery to get back to being a normal size, I have never been skinny, nor do I want to be skinny. What has been the hardest part of your surgery, aftercare and maintenance? Nothing so far, but this doesn't mean that wont change over the long haul. Did this surgery boost your confidence? No, I've never had low self esteem, I'm outgoing and not afraid to speak up. That's one of the reasons for the surgery, I didn't want my weight to negatively impact my life.
