  3. @Bmarion662 in my house there is NO such thing as "throwing" away of food, we have 2 dogs oops I mean the Girlz who think they need to eat a little of everything that we eat. They have no belief that they are dogs.....lol Deltatrans44, I have never heard of Italian wedding soup but I will have to try it for sure. Thanks :}
  4. @Ailly, thank you and if your Hubby would like to share his recipe I would love it. I love to cook but have never made soup so I'm not sure where to even start. It would have to be chicken because of my severe arthritis I don't eat any beef and yes sodium is an issue for me I just didn't know what else to do. Thanks again for your help :}
  5. dwbrown1978, what brands did you use of the soups and jello's? I have never seen high protein jello's. Any help you can give me to prepare would be awesome. Thanks in advance :}
  6. I have been reading alot of different post from all of you re: what you should & shouldn't eat and what you can & can't eat. I don't think I will be able to eat chicken broth just warmed up out of a can, I cook with it but it seems very fatty and greasy just by itself. Do you all think it would be ok if I made canned chicken noodle soup, top ramien or the lipton boxed soup and just strained the noodles off and drank the juice? and if you all have any other idea's of things that worked for you can you please let me know. I want to start stocking up on somethings. Thanks in advance for your help :}
  7. I have found that sometimes things that say "Diet" are lower in sugar than "Sugar free"
  8. I don't have a smart phone can you use it on your laptop or home computer also??
  9. Im pretty new to all this just starting on my journey. Sorry if this is a dumb ? but what is a fitness pal? There are a few things on here that I feel im totally lost...lol Thanks in advance for your help :}
  10. Is it common to become Lactose Intolerant after getting sleeved?? My husband had gastric bypass 10 years ago and a couple months after surgery he discovered he couldn't have any dairy, just wondering if same chance with sleeve. Thanks in advance for your help :}
  11. I'm just in the starting stages of my weight loss journey and I find this to be very helpful. Thank you so much for posting this. I have copied it and added it to my Gastric Sleeve Info folder on my computer so I will always have it close. Thanks again :}
  12. I am pretty new to this site and very new in my journey to lose weight by having the sleeve done. I have read a lot of post that have Abbreviations, can you please translate for me? Like NUT, PCP & so on. I'm sure once I see them in print I'm going to give myself a forehead slap and say OMG why couldn't I figure that out, but I also don't want to assume and be thinking the wrong thing. Ive looked everywhere I can think of on this site to see if I could find them but I haven't found them yet. Thank you all in advance for your help with this :}
  13. If you are taking vacation or PTO days for your recovery time you don't have to tell them anything. What you do on your time off is NONE of there business. However if you have a medical need to be off longer then you will have to tell them something and probably have to have a Dr sign off and say you can return to work, but still you don't have to tell them you had WLS. Hope you get thru all perfect and don't have to tell anyone that you don't want to know.
  14. That is so A~W~E~S~O~M~E, what an inspiration you are to me. I am just starting my weight loss journey, just found out my Insurance does cover it. Waiting to hear from the coordinator. Please keep us up to date on your progress. Again congrats on your accomplishment and Happy Belated Birthday what a wonderful gift you gave yourself :}
  15. Hello everyone, I am just starting with the process of Weight Loss Surgery and am in need of some info from those who have had surgery so that I know I am on the right track and not doing things backwards (which I've been known to do) I have spoke to my insurance and found out that they do cover WLS. Two weeks ago I called and registered with the department that manages Bariatric surgery and was told that I would be contacted by a Nurse who will be my case manager thru my procedure. I have done a lot of researching and reading about the different surgeries and have decided that the sleeve is what I want. My husband had the Gastric Bypass done 10 years ago and had some issues they had to cut him open and now he has double hernia, he's now lactose intolerant and experiences dumping syndrome quite often. However my best friend also had the bypass almost 3 years ago and has had no problems except not absorbing the vitamins properly. She now says if she would have known more about the Sleeve she probably would have done it instead of the Bypass. My questions for all of you who have been thru this how did the process go for you? I have United Health Care Insurance and I have not been contacted by my Nurse case manager yet. How long is too long of a wait? Also I am only seeing a primary doctor & my Rhuematoligist at this point, is my primary doctor the one who starts this process with me or will I have to go to a Bariatric type Dr.? I know I have to do 6 months of weight loss dieting and keeping track of what I've done and have a Dr. sign off on it. But I'm unclear if the Dr. I see now is the one who does it. Also what is the Psych Evaluation all about? I have not been able to find out very much info on that. Sorry this is long winded but I'm excited to get the process started and want to do everything right the 1st time so it doesn't take FOREVER to happen. I'm hoping that you guys can help me out and keep me on the right track. Thank you in advance for all your help.
  16. tjmom, that is truly amazing. I have just started on my weight loss journey, just got enrolled in the weight loss program thru my insurance & haven't yet had my 1st Dr apt. But reading your story has made me very excited and hopeful, you are such a positive role model and a motivation for me. I defiantly want to keep up with your success, please keep us posted and again congrats way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :}
  17. I haven't had surgery yet, actually just got enrolled with the weight loss thing thru my insurance & am waiting for the nurse in charge of my case to call me for an apt. But I have talked to many people about portion size & how will I know how much is too much before I eat it & one of my customers had the Sleeve done in TJ,Mexico in December 2011 and she told me she went out and bought toddler dived plates and uses toddler silverware and she said it has helped her so much. When she would go to others houses or restaurant's for dinner she would eat too much and be miserable later so she now takes her plates with her. I thought this was a very good idea. I hope this will help others also.
  18. Thank you for sharing this. What did you order and how did you like it? I am just starting my journey, just made the phone call to my Insurance company and enrolling in the Weight loss program thru them. I am waiting for the Case Nurse to contact me.
  19. I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you. My heart goes out to you, as I am just now starting the process. I just got enrolled into the Bariatric Program thru my insurance, I haven't been contacted by the Nurse who will be in charge of my case so I don't even know what to expect yet but I know that would be a hard thing to hear. I do however believe that everything happens for a reason and maybe he wasn't the surgeon that God had planned for you. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope you get thru this with no other hiccups.
  20. I was having a problem with protien shakes also when I was trying to lose weight, but I found one that I actually like. I'm not normally a"vanilla or chocolate" person but I found that EAS has a chocolate fudge drink thats really good it has only a few carbs 1g of sugar and more protien than slot of the nasty tasting shakes. I get mind st my local Sams club and they are very affordable. Its worth a try. Good luck in your venture :}
