Hi,
I have UHC, but more importantly anyone have a Cali doctor? Do they have good recommendations? I'm in San Francisco but willing to travel around some.

5'2 - 224 lbs. Fighting insurance to get this approved.

A thread of post-op (no matter how veteran you are) is what (as a pre-op) I want to hear. I'd like in my research to see what different dr.s have suggested as I didn't realize they can vary so drastically. I want to hear people's experiences so I can make my own decision as to how much or not I want to follow orders or what foods to avoid until which month out, etc. It's quite frustrating to see after someone posts their opinion and tries to cite sources that helped them make their decision/opinion and then see others completely bash them for that. What's the point in anyone posting their opinions then? Opinions.... Everyone thinks they are giving their personal experiences to help the next person. As anyone going through this, you should never take one person's opinion as the final word, but then again I'd hope this would be common sense. Take your Dr.s word. It makes me think twice about posting my opinions if I ever get approved and have surgery on here.... *runs to another site*

Looked up on medical board.
Wanted someone with none-little to none history of leaks or complications.
A pioneer of the sleeve surgery.
Someone who was primary bariatric surgeon and ha done over 500 surgeries.
Bed side manners and felt comfortable with to ask all my questions, etc.
Overall reputation of office and doctor results.

So I just remembered when I was at my lowest (160) like 6 yrs ago and my pelvic bones being more apparent... And literally being bruised when f**king. I couldn't do a lot of moves--scissors, etc. bc I couldn't take going hard... Lol!! I kinda don't even care about all that if I could just look hot again in some panties/bra and be able to have my stamina back for riding. That confidence is what I miss most about sex--it made it so much better bc I'd be willing to try anything!

It's the first day of our new lives! Of course we're all anxious worry stress warts... but the sooner we get it over with we can get back to being US AGAIN! If you bail, you'll always wish you'd taken the opportunity. I wish I'd done this YEARS ago!

I will have my sleeve done on 1/29. After waiting all this time, now I am nervous. I feel so much better reading about others who had it done and feel good already. I get scared that I will feel sick. Pain meds usually make me sick and so does anesthesia. The Dr. said not to worry but I cant help it.

My PA said up to the day of is fine

That's a great letter. I'm impressed with your fortitude. You're taking the right approach....showing how it helps their bottom line. Many times that's the only thing big business cares about.

I am a Human Resources professional, the Senior Vice President of Human Resources in a large mulit-bank holding company. I have been sleeved. I am in charge of our benefits programs. Our insurance did and does not cover bariatric surgery of any kind, like yours. I, too, think it should. I of course because of my position did not push to get it covered in time for my surgery because it would appear to be self-serving.
And now that I have been sleeved, and have been successful at losing the weight and improving my health, I want and need to push to get the door opened for others. I do so totally appreciate what you are doing and agree with your strategy and your supporting facts.
Would you mind if I borrow some of your verbiage and facts?
I intend also to point out to the powers above me (the Board of Directors) that we pay for treatment for other self-inflected conditions. Examples would be lung cancer from smoking, skin cancer from sun exposure, cirrhosis due to drinking, gunshot wounds to the head... well, you get the picture.
I made a pitch to the CEO but he did not permit me to put it before the Board, even though he knows I had the surgery and sees my success. I intend to retire in 1.5 years, so I will put it before the Board without his permission at next opportunity. What's he gonna do? Fire me? So what if he does? I'm on my way out the door anyway.
I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. It may be my last great hurrah!

My file has finally been passed onto insurance!!! Thank you Lord. Hopefully they won't take too long approving. I have UHC and from a lot of threads it appears they respond quickly. We shall see!

Girl! I sent the insurance a packet that was 4 lbs! Anddddddd I just got approved today!!!!
Now bad news.... I only have 6 weeks left of my insurance. I'm out if town for the next week. And within these 6 weeks I have to find another job. (With 1 job pending final determination next week... Interviewed twice already). Can I heal in 2 weeks I wonder? Where there's a will, there's a way!! My employer got tired of hearing from me I think

@Dreamsofskinny....girl I had to absolutely lose it! I was pretty much told it could be up to 2 months before i heard anything. This included the internal review @ up to 2 weeks, bariatric coordinator at 1 week and up to 30 days for the ins company. I escalated my case to the office mgr bc that time frame is ridiculous. She said she would give me an update tomorrow. We shall see!
