  1. That sounds too quick to me. I can only have clear liquids until day 13. Then it is things like yogurt and sugar free pudding. So, I would scale back big time. It might feel ok, but it may still be dangerous to your sleeve.
  2. Thanks guys! I just needed to hear what was "normal". Can't wait to be a loser, but honestly, I'm not in a big hurry. I lost 50 pre op and I already feel great. Just curious how it went or some people.
  3. Glad you are okay. Not to be a downer, but I was just sleeved on the 8th. I have had my gall bladder removed and it was a piece of cake. For me, the pain from the sleeve was much, much worse. Wish I had gone into the surgery knowing that more gas is used and they do more "manipulating" of our diaphragm. Post surgery I was in a great deal of pain and pain meds didn't help. Just be prepared for the possibility. The best fix is to get up and move a lot. I just wish someone had told me the first day vpcan be very painful. Best of luck to you!
  4. Am 2 days post sleeve and still up 2 pounds since my hospital stay. When does the weight loss phase kick in? I know it is different for everyone.
  5. I was sleeved on the 8th. Have a lot of what I would call gas pain. But, it still HURTS! Sipping every 3 minutes and walking every hour. Hope it gets better soon. The gas is the worst part of this! When can you drink normal amounts vs. sips?
  6. IS it normal to have pain/pressure when sipping on fluids? This is so new to me.
  7. Hi all! I am sleeved! Had my surgery on Thursday and now I'm home. Gained about 4 pounds at the hospital, now down two from that. Can't wait to start losing!
  8. Anybody else? Getting really nervous and having to fight the urge to eat more strongly. Not hungry, just WANT it!
  9. Thanks for your response newbie. I will pray for you as well. ((hugs))
  10. Thanks ya'll for your honesty! I can only have 3 optifast shakes per day and 2 bars. Beyond that I can have plain cucumbers, one sugar free jello, and unlimited non-carbonated sugar free drinks. Not much. Nothing that satisfies that literally PAINFUL hunger.
  11. I'm with you. This freaking SUCKS!!!!!
  12. Okay, so I am on day 11 of my 28 day pre op diet and (pardon my swearing) the **** is hitting the fan! Yes, I really want this, yes I know the deal with the liver, but no, I have not been perfect. I emailed one of the medical assistants at my surgeon's office who had the sleeve within the last year and all she could say was to get back on track. No admitting she herself struggled or cheated a little. I need someone who gets it! I am HURTING. I literally start hurting in my stomach and shaking. At that point, I have to grab a spoonful of peanut butter to calm my system down. I have 3 small children and I am home alone with them during the day. I simply can't afford to pass out! I really feel like I will. The medical community just says to stick to it but what about when this happens? Someone help please. I have lost 22 pounds already but I need to get to 35. I don't want to mess this up but I don't want to pass out either. This is sucking so bad. I just don't have anywhere to turn and I'm frustrated!!
  13. Actually, I have one MONTH of this. My two week half way mark is Thursday. Just wondering, is the weight coming off what shrinks your liver or what you eat? I just noticed some people have liquid pre ops and some have low carb. Can someone explain? Can you lose a bunch of weight and still have a large liver? I have lost 26 so far.
  14. Thanks Lissa! I have over two weeks to go, so I'm hoping a screw up now won't hold me back. The hardest part for me has been hearing how others have much easier pre op diets. Just low carb, Atkins type! I'd kill for that about right now! Optifast is nasty and no matter what I try it doesn't taste any better.
  15. Okay was not good. My pre op diet is to consist of 3 Optifast shakes and two bars. Today, I got very shaky and ended up eating Progresso reduced sodium minestrone and some peanut butter. I feel bad, but I needed something. I felt like I was going to die. Disappointed in myself though.
  16. I've started a blog: sharonm723.wordpress.com
  17. Sunfunmash: that nutritionist needs to find a new job! Ridiculous! My nutritionist was so positive. What a jerk! Maybe she's jealous!
  18. It is my day 6 on my pre op month long diet of Optifast. It's supposed to be getting easier! I am starving today. I had to wait for my son at church while he was in instruction and wouldn't you know they were selling hot dogs and soup. The aroma filled the enitre area. I almost died. I felt so sad today. I cried for a long time. First time I've done that without "medicating" myself with food after to "heal" my emotions. Please tell me it gets better!!!!!!
  19. That's awesome! I do get shaky sometimes. It will get better. I am on day 6 and I have dropped 23 pounds.
  20. Wish I could help. I am on 4 weeks of optifast. Yucky.
  21. Thanks! Good luck to you! It's almost our time!!
  22. Okay, so the end of day 5 and went to my workshop today. I have officially lost 20 pounds in five days and I am down 27 from my highest! I have been taken off 1 of my 2 diabetes meds. This is such a huge deal, I'm so excited! Can't wait to reach more goals!!
  23. I really wish I only had 2 weeks. I have 23 more days of this! Ugh!
