  1. My Husband and I were both interested in the vsg for our weightloss His BMI is 58, mine is 56, He was laid off of work and we are on Medicaid. At our first consultation we were informed that medicaid in our state does not cover the vsg, yet when I called them I was told that it was covered if it was medically necessary. My only options are Bypass or Band. So, next I thought maybe we could afford to add coverage and pay a premiums. So I checked out bcbs the sales agent said we would be denied until after we had the surgery if it was recommended by I doctor. Well my primary Care physician did write us a refferal.... so did I just blow it? What are my options ? Can Medicaid pay for us ? Can we still get another insurance with medicaid to pay? Can someone recommend one that has a decent premiums and not asking a huge deductible? Mexico is not an option any other suggestions please! I am so desperate! Ciara Reese

    Roadblocks With Indiana Medicaid

Well to clarify bcbs 's agent was helping me find an appropriate plan online and I mentioned weight loss surgery ( thinking that there might be a plan that would be have lower deductible) and they said that i would be denied if a doctor has already recommended surgery until after I have it, I hope that clarifies thank you for the information. it seems my next step will be discussing this dilema with the ReStart clinic regards, Ciara
  4. Today I had my first consultation with the ReStart Bariactric clinic in Merrilville, In . I did contact my medicaide insurer and before my appointment and was told that they would cover the sleeve however today the coordinator and the medical assistant both told me that Indiana was not paying for this surgery and tried to talk me into the RNY. Now after reading these thoughtful and riveting post provided by my diligent sleevers, how can i present this info to the staff and get them to at least try to bill for it. Any suggestion? Tommorow I am going to call bariatric clinics around the state and see if any has had approvals with my insurance. Regards, Ciara aka Hopeful Hoosier!

  6. I searched for this discussion because last night my husband said that I better not lose my booty! I was so shocked because I never considered my behind as attractive since being at 369lbs my butt, stomachs and back are all the same width. I have not had VSG yet I went to a seminar last night and have been researching the surgery. Now I am think mabey there is a booty hiding under there somewhere. His comment really has me thinking. I am wondering what my body will look like when I reach my goals , I have never been small so I have no point of reference. i think your fear of losing curves is normal. I am looking at this as the chance to be a blank slate and create the body I have always wanted, and yes I am not ashamed to say that I wouldn't mind having one you can set a glass on.
  7. Hi, my name is Ciara i am thinking abut getting the sleeve. Live in Indiana I recieve medicaid but am thinking of finding another source of insurance. i need the sleeve because I am overweight and a mother of five who has tried everything to loose weight. i recently joined curves and though I have been eating right and exercising and even eel great about myself i also have gained weight and am sore and hungry all the time for exercising and restrictive diets. i have spent thousands of dollars on gimmicks and programs, i have just come to the conclusion that I need surgical intervention. i know i have a long road ahead of me but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel.
