Christy good for you! We developed an instant rapport with our surgeon. Since we live in a large city, he has a TEAM that has led us several months to surgery and now post op. Trust your gut instincts with your doctors, you get to pick and choose!!!!

I agree...a second opinion would probably be a great option at this time. I also agree with the other posters that it's possible that the sleeve will be enough to not need a second surgery.

It ain't so! I eat it all the time. I'm almost 8 months post op. You have to watch it though...it's easy to overeat it.

Ok so i'm just about to 7 months post op, surgery date was December 10, 2012 preop weight of 379 lbs, pants size a tight 54 waist, Shirt size was a 3 to 4 xL. Todays weight is 243.6 lbs, pants size is down to a 40 but it is loose and could probably go to a 38. Shirt size is a Large in most shirts, with some XL just because I still have them and their not that loose yet, lol. My daily intake numbers are less then 900 calories a day, less then 40 grams of carbs a day, more then 70 grams of Protein, and a minimum of 120 oz hydration. Now for the pictures.

    Laura,
I think negativity just breeds negativity. People keep sharing negative thoughts and those like me keep quiet and just read through not posting. I had a hard time with my surgery. I was in the hospital for 4 days afterwards. I'm 7 weeks out tomorrow and my incision hasn't healed and I was just diagnosed with a staph infection. But guess what??? These things frustrate me, but still not one regret. I've also had a few rough moments where I wanted to eat like a freakiing fat pig like others around me, but I got through it and felt better than the others afterward :-)
No regrets here! And for those lurkers like me who don't regret it need to speak up more and make this forum a place for people to learn about the sleeve to make informed decisions. This site helped me tremendously.

I am one of the posters who have said in the past that I have regrets...Not all of the time, but yes - I have. I *did* do my research...I had psychological counseling... my entire preparation time was over a year. I KNEW what I was getting in to.
I have had a love/hate relationship with food for over 40 years. So yes - it IS hard to adjust to a different style of eating. I WANTED to lose weight...I STILL want to lose weight. I am down almost 70lbs in six months. I am healthier... I exercise EVERY day. But. This is still the hardest thing I have ever done. And I can't say for sure that if I had to do it over again, I would. The last 6 months have been the hardest 6 mos of the last 30 years of my life... So, it hasn't all been rainbows and unicorns.
People who think that weight loss surgery is an "easy way out" or a short cut? I want to punch them smack in the mouth. It was VERY hard. For me. Some folks seem to have the surgery and bounce right back and go to work the next day, run a 5k, etc, etc... ~shrug~ Flame away, but that is how *I* feel.

Doing great here! Sleeved on march 8. When I started pre op diet I was 206. I'm 177 today! I was afraid since my bmi was only 36 or 37 I would lose super slow...but I'm very cool with this :-)

I was sleeved March 8th too. I'm down 21lbs including the weight I lost during my pre-op. I haven't lost a single once this whole week though. Starting to worry I'm not doing something right. I'm doing pretty good at getting Protein and liquids in and walking daily. Hope it starts moving soon :-)

I'm very worried that my surgery date will be pushed back some. I'm scheduled for march 8 and my hubs comes home march 7. He travels three weeks out of every month and i really need him here for this, especially to care for our son and pets. I've done my EDG, sleep study, pregnancy test and blood test. I still need my medical clearance, gallbladder ultrasound and chest X-ray. I'm going Tuesday to my PCP for my medical clearance and they should have my test results, order my X-ray and ultrasound. I know i dont need an appt for the xray so i plan to get that immediately following my appt. My surgeons office told me that I was cutting it very close that I might not make it in time with the cardiac clearance and the gallbladder ultrasound. my PCP said they do the EKG at my appt and as long as its normal they will clear me on the cardiac part but surgeons office says that I need to see a cardiologist for clearance. So confused :-/ I really thought the surgeons office would have helped me more with properly scheduling all the pre op stuff. I've had to contact them for most everything instead of them contacting me. They did give me a great binder full of info but the list of tests and clearances is just a list...it would have been helpful if it said "cardiac clearance - schedule at least X days before surgery date" or something like that. It just says it has to be with in 30 days of surgery, I hope my PCP can take care of that and they can get a rush on my ultrasound.. Uggg. I hope my plans don't fall through.
