    Not What I Expected

I am so pleased to hear that you have a supportive family. God allowed you to endure all that you had gone through to add to your experiences and to be an inside source to someone who may be taking their surgical procedure lightly forgetting that it is a major surgery with residuals and complications. Many think weight loss surgery is a nip and tuck to get skinny. Some of us know first hand that we have to prepare ourselves for the unexpected, because everyone is different and the procedure is so diverse regarding outcomes...you never know completely what you are in-stored for... as with any major surgery. I am so thankful that you are on your way to much needed rest both mentally and physically. Just think of yourself as like a piece of coal that has been placed in blazing heat at high temperatures so once taken out of the heat and polished up you'll come out of this shining like a "Diamond in the Rough"! Keep smiling and I'll be praying for you and all those involved in creating your memorable story.

    I Give Up

Giving Up Is Not An Option! (Yes, I am saying this extremely firm). You have come to far to let a food issue defeat you! The issue with food is what motivated you the get your sleeve. As one of the previous post stated:"The sleeve will not let you give up". You will not get a 85% refund back. The stomach you use to have is long gone. Some of us have trouble knowing what to eat and some do not. My battle with the diet is called,"Their trials and my error!" My nutritionist has suggested that I attempt different items in my phase, and since I'm in between "creamies" and "purees"...all I can say is "Lord Have Mercy". I just read labels and try the items. Somethings work and some don't. You getting the sleeve is only the introduction to a lifestyle change; now you have to work on your critical thinking process and realize that your focus has to be positive and not just about the weight, your in-takes nor your outputs. Drink your fluids, eat what you can tolerate while monitoring the nutritional factors, and most of all...one day at a time. We all have ups and downs, but the problem comes when the moods like the foods are excessive. Take baby steps and it's alright if you want to go back to crawling; the process is long but ohhhhh soooo rewarding. Don't Give Up Take a Walk and Eat a Sugar-Free Popsicle or a spoon of peanut butter...You see, that's works for me. Now you have to find your niche, but I won't mind if you borrow mine. Enjoy the new you no matter what...Congrats on the SLEEVE!

  6. My best-friend and I sadly had to part ways. You see...it was love at first sight, we would always end up at the same places, make hasty decisions, I used my best friend as a clutch to console me when I was down, my best friend was at every celebration and I just couldn't break free. I became depressed, my pressure was out of control, I stayed in bed feeling guilty because we would spend entirely too much time together. I went to counseling to seek advice and basically this relationship was literally KILLING me and my docs at the VA said enough is enough. I was told that I needed to get a "Best-Friend Ectomy"! I began to reminisce on all the times we shared and how the good had begun to out-weigh the bad. I began having thoughts about all the "good" comments I use to say like..Good Gracious these pants use to fit last month, and Good night everyone so now I can finally eat all this ice cream without having to share, and the one that really hit home was when I said "Good Lord! As I looked at my medical records for review and saw that I was up to 34 pills a day to include maintenance chemo and that was it for me! I sat down and did some soul-searching. All this time I thought I was doing great. I would go to the gym for Zumba, had done my Water aerobics, worked the elliptical like I was in a contest, active with the grand-babies, played with the dog, but all of that wasn't enough. I had to have a talk with my best friend and it wasn't going to be pretty. This is how the one-sided conversation went~~~ "I looked in .... the refrigerator and said NO MORE! I will not let you groceries be the death of me. I refuse to allow you to run my life. I am so sorry for using you as a crutch when I was bored, or sad, or happy, or being sociable, or while watching tv! I am done. We are not good for one another, because of my lack of self control and self discipline. then I shut the refrigerator. The house was quiet and I was all alone; except for our dog who looked at me with a sideways stare as if to say... "my momma needs to go to the vet". Best of luck to everyone!

Congratulations!!! I am just 8 days out and I'm looking forward to totally abusing my Y membership. I miss really working out and Zumba was my bestfriend prior to reaching 260 of my lazy pounds. Keep up the good work. Tell your hubby that my hubby has motivator pom-poms too. It's great to hear our spouses cheer us on. My hubby has been my cheerleader for 24 years this coming September 24. Keep on keeping on.

    Help....what Else To Do?

Please remember we are the individuals who have undergone the surgery and we should now be listening to our bodies. Your body is telling you to go and get help. You will feel better knowing that you have done what was best for you and your body. Our loved ones, who have not had the surgery; are taking this walk through our "ups" and "downs". Questioning our-self is good and healthy, but 2nd guessing will sometimes lead to some of the negatives we may have felt prior to our decision to have the surgery. Uncontrollable pain and weakness gets us depressed quicker. Staying hydrated and getting stronger will show you more progression that any pound lost. Feeling good will contribute to your looking good and then your husband will see your inner strength. Best wishes and I feel better soon.

    Sleeved Yesterday

My gas pain didn't come until day 3 and I was told that walking and moving about, but not overexerting was the best and natural way for me to have relief. My body had to rid itself of the gas used for surgery and the more movement I could handle the better I felt. Good luck and congrats!
