Also in the Self Pay/Mexico forum there are many of us who shared our very detailed experiences with our respective surgeons.

- So many Dr's in Mexico!…help!
I went with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. He is a bit higher in cost than most. I think he was worth every penny. I was originally going to go to TJ and have my surgery at Mi Doctor. It is not run out of a strip mall, that would be Jerusalem Hospital, but it is not quite a fully operational hospital. Ie. there is no ER. Babies aren't born there... More like a specialty center? I changed my mind b/c my heart acts up and will flip into unpleasant and sometimes potentially dangerous rhythms. I was concerned Mi Doctor wasn't equipped to handle it, especially if I was in a hotel. As it turns out my heart did act up and Almater Hospital and Dr. Aceves' team were all over and got me on track. That said, I'm sure if you talk to enough people on the forum you will get great feedback and experiences regarding many surgeons and options. Just make the decision that sits well with you and your hubby.- Making up a goal

How do you know with utter certainty that the hunger you're feeling isn't head hunger? Your lack of restriction aside, how do you know? I think it is near impossible to tell the difference. I even dream about food.- How Soon Can I Resume My Pre-Sleeve Eating Lifestyle?!?!

Sometimes the frustration, for me, comes from people posting the very thoughts I'm struggling with.- April NSV's
I just had a rant and I want to counter it with some positivity. I know a lot of ppl were sleeved fairly recently and I've seen a lot of new "stalls" threads pop up. I'm avoiding my scale so I'd like to focus on some NSV's to help boost morale. Previously tight clothes are now comfy. Some pants that didn't fit now fit snugly. Bittersweet: bras fitting better around, but alas, looser in the cup. Saw my dad on Easter and then a week later and he was impressed with the "obvious" weight loss in a week. Hubby says clothes fitting me different and he loves "the girls" even tho they're shrinking.- Stalled since April 1... God awful April Fools joke
Your body is wired to freak out at such a low caloric intake and hold onto everything it can for self preservation. It's biology... Or chemistry. Or both. Ride the wave. Switch things up. Track your intake. Made sure you're fueling yourself well. Btw, huge difference in your fave already 4 weeks out. Celebrate you NSV's.- How Soon Can I Resume My Pre-Sleeve Eating Lifestyle?!?!
This is a rant in the truest sense of the word. This is probably the most frustrated you will see me get on this forum. I've been hanging out on VST for almost a year and I am now 3 weeks postop. I'm no expert, but I am a woman with food addiction trying to get healthy. Some of the questions I've come across blow my mind. Truly. It's not that I don't get this is a journey and a struggle. I do. I get it. I've wanted to lick spoons! But really?! Bread a week out?! Trying to figure out how soon b4 you can get drunk?! Let's eat at McDonalds for Protein?! I've been sleeved a month, can I get Chinese takeout?! I sure miss bingeing?!?! Pass the box of donuts, it is all I can afford?!?! Disclaimer: I plan to eat realistically. I know I will eat bread again. I'm sure wine will pass between my lips again. I imagine I will partake in Chinese food, although a buffet would be a total waste. I will sink my teeth into a Boston cream donut. But I'm 3 weeks out. These things are not my priority. And while I won't tell others what their priorities should be, if these are yours you may want to find out why. I've been tempted to ask my uncle, he is going on two years sleeved, what he can hold comfortably in one sitting max. But when I reflect on why I'm asking that I realize its my addiction wanting to know this. Wanting to anticipate max binge ability. When I read some of the above questions my brain translates it to my subject title: How Soon Can I Resume My Pre-Sleeve Eating Lifestyle? Maybe I'm wrong/reading more into things, and my emotions and whatnot are getting to me postop.- Recovery questions
I was off pain meds completely the 2nd day. My stomach did feel overworked. My postop diet is very conservative. 10 days Clear Liquids. 10 days full liquids. 10 or more days soft/blended foods. Then regular good. High protein/low carb. Sip sip sip.- Full liquid Stage
I'm gonna have to say that the almond milk is a better bet overall regarding calories, fat and carbs. As soon as I went from Clear liquids to full liquids I've traded Water for almond milk in my Protein shakes. Since I blend with ice I'm not even getting a full serving. - Anybody regretted it, even with no complications?
