My 600 lb life
I'm watching it too. Anyone else feel bad for her husband?

I know what you mean. My dog got sick, went to the vet, found a place to treat her, and she made it to the waiting room and couldn't hang on. All happened within 4 days. I went to the SPCA where I found her and just like the first time another had been brought in. I pushed some children out of the way and snatched the tag and brought her home.

Congrats!! That's awesome. Can I ask a stupid question? What is a drain? I had my sleeve in August and I didn't have one. It seemed they were trying to wheel me from the recovery room to the parking lot.- Puppy
What sad moments do you mean- Losing weight or losing inches? Which is better in your opinion?
As far as stalls this is completely normal. There are a number of reasons for that. You've pretty much upended your internal organs. Just keep on track and it all balances out. I'm almost 6 months out so I've definitely been there. As far as pounds vs inches that's up to you. There have been weeks where I lost next to nothing In pounds but lost several inches. You will come into your own as your journey continues. It's hard but in the beginning try not to focus on the number. Focus on how you feel and what you can do now that you couldn't do before.- Im not loosing any weight after VSG surgery

I just adopted one after my first died the week before Christmas. I learned that 99% of the time if someone has their mind made up it's kind of hard to change it. See if you can just let her know that you want her to be involved but you're asking her to trust that you're making the best decision and you're doing what's right for the two of you and just ask her to be supportive of that. She might come around you never know.- Puppy
I'm calling PETA myself lol. First off is the puppy for your mother in law?- Im not loosing any weight after VSG surgery
I'm going to completely embarrass myself but what does trolling mean? My personal opinion after reading all the posts was someone was asking her legitimate questions and getting open ended answers. Was it tactful? Probably not, but you can kind of tell when someone is playing games and I can see both sides.- Why do post-op diets vary so much?
I've wondered the same thing, also the variations on what is allowed frustrates me. Some people can eat mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, and oatmeal on mushies. I was told all of those were too high on carbs. I love potatoes and would kill for some however my Dr is highly against them.- Alcohol/drinks

I would give both my kidneys for a cheeseburger, or breadsticks with marinara, or pizza.- Excited
I wanted to make a post and see if anyone has found or made any sleeve friendly recipes that are as good as all those things we're not supposed to have. I've made half of the best low carb recipes I could find on google and most went in the trash. So far I've been successful with chocolate chip cookies, and brownies. Brownies had about 1 gram of carb and loaded with fiber.- Having a hard time
I had the same problem and called my Drs office a lot the first 2 weeks. You're doing great. Listen to your body the surgery you had was stressful and your body will tell you more than you can imagine. I was so worried about meeting my protein requirements and getting enough fluid it drove me crazy. It took me hours and hours to finish a bottle of water alone. My dr said to keep sipping and if I needed a change to get some sugar free Popsicles and suck on those. It probably sounds dumb, but the Popsicles were life and sanity saving.- Alcohol/drinks
- Will i still be hungery, as i am post op? Having surgery feb 18 th.
I doubt you will be as hungry after. For the first week post op I was lucky if I met my water goals. At times I had head hunger but as far as being physically hungry I don't think you will.- sugar?
Most dr's follow or suggest a high protein low carb diet, which is why sugar is such a big issue. My dr told me I could have anything I wanted, but I was accountable for the outcome. The sleeve is only the first part. There's a lot of reprogramming ourselves to be more cautious and make the right choices. If you want jello or other things with sugar and you're ok with that than go for it. I've had my moments as well. Mostly with sweet tea. I'm southern and have lived on it my whole life. Splenda is awful in tea so at times I have some. I'm completely accountable for it and try to make even more healthy decisions when I have one.- Sleeve Too Big
That's kind of what I was thinking at a month out I was still on mushies. So glad that stage is behind me.- What has your doctor told you to eat/or what not to eat over the next year?
I can't complain about my dr anymore lol. My diet is structured but nowhere near as strict as this I'm basically told at least 64 oz of water, 90-120 g of protein(due to my size), and carbs should be about half of your protein Intake. So for me 45-60 grams a day. As far as soda I was told to avoid but wasn't told never on anything. I've been told mainly protein, protein, protein.- Best brownies ever
I posted a brownie recipe blindly a week or so ago, but when I made them they were awful. So I went looking for another and made these today. They are awesome. Fudgy, chewy, and If you didn't tell anyone they would never know they were low carb. I will say if your not a fan of flax seed meal you can use almond meal instead. The flaxseed does taste kind of like grass by itself but in the final product you can absolutely not taste it. My only gripe is the seeds in the brand I bought were not ground as fine as I would prefer. Easy fix just run through a food processor, or coffee/pepper grinder. If you don't have erythritol, truvia is made with it. Whole foods sells the powdered brand suggested (zsweet, and Now). I used Splenda as the secondary sweetener. You could also experiment and add sugar free chocolate chips, or Peanut Butter. Try them you won't be disappointed. 1/4 lb butter (1 stick) 2 cups erythritol (powdered, not granulated) 1 Tbsp vanilla 4 eggs (room temp is best) 1/2 cup cocoa 1 tsp salt 4 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted 2 cups flax seed meal 1 Tbsp baking powder 1/3 cup cream 2/3 cup Water 1 cup artificial sweetener 1 cup walnuts (optional) Preparation: Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9X13 pan. 1) Cream the butter until fluffy. 2) Add the erythritol to the butter and cream them together until fully combined (aim for a fluffy texture). Will appear almost like wet sand. 3) Add the vanilla and beat the eggs into the mixture, one at a time. 4) Add salt and cocoa, beat well. 5) Add chocolate, beat until fluffy. 6) Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well to combine. 7) Pour into a pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes until top springs back. (You can also test if they're ready by sticking a toothpick in the brownies. If it comes out clean, or almost-so, they're done.) 8) Cool, then cut into 32 squares. If you cheat and eat one warm, know that the texture will be different once completely cool. That's when they become like real brownies. (They are even better the next day.) Nutritional Analysis: Each of 32 brownies has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 3 grams of Fiber, 3 grams of Protein, 10 grams of fat, and 107 calories. - First post op check up!
