ozeedonkee got a reaction from ShrinkyDinkMe22 in Starting To Really Freak Out.
It would be strange to NOT be nervous! Voluntarily removing most of an organ is a big deal. I was nervous, it was all I thought about for months before. It consumed me.
Then I drove myself to the hospital and found I was strangely calm. I was completely at ease with my decision. Recovery sucked, but a couple of shitty days is a drop in the ocean for a healthier 50 or so years. It took one week for me to feel a bit more normal, and each day gets better! I'm dropping weight, in the next few days I'll start exercising. I sleep better and wake refreshed - and that's only 2 weeks out.
VSG is a big deal - but so far it's paying off I feel so much better. Hang in there

Also, when you start pureed fish or mashed eggs, make them as moist as possible. I add a little mayo or greek yogurt. Helps a lot

It's absolutely not the easy way out. You are so close (9 days!!). If this is what you want (need) to do, then stick with it.

It's quite peculiar, isn't it? No hunger and no inclination to eat... Had my op on Wed 14th, out on Sat. I've been feeling quite weak, so tonight I pureed about 40g salmon. Fast forward 2 hours and I still hadn't finished! Ah well, back in the fridge for tomorrow nights tea. Since my op I've lost 5.2kg. I'm making sure I get at least 1L of Water too.

I don't think you overreacted, and the fact that he is telling you that you did and that you're being overly sensitve is sending up major red flags - that is very manipulative behavior. It doesn't sound like it is a very healthy relationship anyway. He sounds insecure and is pressuring you inappropriately to maintain an unhealthy weight and to tape your sexlife. There may be some trust issues there. Having said that, all relationships are learning experiences, which means whether a relationship sucks or is wonderful, having learned from it is a positive. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to be in a relationship at age 23 and while you're working on yourself. As you come through the WLS process you might find that how you feel about yourself, other people, your priorities will change.
How does this guy make you feel about yourself? Do you feel respected, cared-for, listened-to, valued, etc? If you don't feel positive about yourself 100% of the time, then he's just not worth it.

As I went in to theatre the anesthesiologist said "some people come out and ask if the operation was done, others feel nauseous and horrible."
    Sounds like you got lucky!

I got home today, so 3 nights in hospital. Boy oh boy, I didn't get it easy either. I was so nauseous day of surgery, and still fairly out of it the following day. But I've been walking as much as I could - stalking the wards at midnight. Helped with the gas pain, which I had around my diaphram and under my ribs. Once it moved up into my shoulders, heat pads were good. Today I thought I'd have a try at yogurt - 2 licks of the teaspoon and I was done. Weird! But 4kg (8.8 lb) down in 4 days. Now to concentrate on water/protein I guess.

Boyfriend issues aside, I was glad no-one came in on the day of my op. I really couldn't have paid attention to anyone right after the op (or the following day).

Ooooooh I won't be able to have chocolate in the house. I haven't had any for a couple of weeks. My son had a caramello koala in the fridge (husband bought it in to the house) and I thought "I'll just bite the head off." 10 minutes later I was back for the rest of it, and it made me feel like crap. Chocolate is just a no-go for me. I get a sugar high then want more when I come down.

I started getting it during my first pregnancy and had it most of the time for the next 5/6 years. I found professional deep tissue massage would relieve the symptoms but not fix it. I started seeing a chiropractor who fixed it almost immediately. 12 months later after (with no following visits) I am still sciatica free.
