  1. Amen to celebrate the fact that you've not had any stalls, you're doing awesome!! From the 6th month on, I've lost 8 lbs total in 3 months, EIGHT, not much at all, and I'm in a gym 5 days a week 50 min cardio, adding 3 days a week 20 min of weight training. I think our bodies just know when to let go of the weight and it's not when we want it but when it's meant to happen. Frustrating for sure, but 'this too shall pass' as the saying goes. Again, you're doing amazing!! Karen
  2. Awesome accomplishment, thanx for sharing, and much continued success!!!
  3. Don't feel bad or discouraged at all!! I am now at 9 months out, lost 84 lbs so far, 10 lbs was pre op. So, since surgery I've lost 74 lbs at 9 months. As all will say, we are all different and lose at different rates, but we will lose!! I'm at the gym 5 days a week with 50 min of cardio and add 20 min of strength training to that 3 days a week. My weight loss even slowed down alot the past 3 months, but I just know we have to keep on keeping on, no other way around it, right? We might be slower, but you are doing awesome in my eyes!! Smile :-) Karen
  4. I think I'll ask myself that once I get to my goal which is still 34 lbs away. Once there, THEN and only then, will I think I would worry about getting too thin. Like others says, if I'd lose more than I want, I'll add more calories or even more strength training than I'm doing now. :-)
  5. I had mine in for the 2 days I was in the hospital. It was removed right before I was discharged, it doesn't hurt, just felt a bit weird.
  6. Not all surgeons cath for this surgery, mine didn't.
  7. Thanx, it's still a work in progress, losing very very slow the past 3 months, and at the gym 5 days a week, with 50 min cardio each day and 3 days a week 20 min strength training. Just have to keep on, keeping on, and never let the slowness distract you from the 'goal'.
  8. The first 2 taken in July 2012, surgery was 8-21-12, last picture taken 5-12-13, total loss from 1 week prior to surgery is now 82 lbs. Hope the pics come across properly, this is the first time I'm attaching pictures to an email. Karen
  9. I had surgery on Tuesday at 9AM and went home Thursday around 9AM as expected. If no complications I was told 2 nights and that's what it was.
  10. Highest weight was 249 lbs My height is 5'5" Weight on surgery day was 236 lbs Surgery was on 8-21-12 (so another 1 1/2 weeks I'll be 9 months out) Today I weigh 167 lbs (weight loss slowed down ALOT after 6 months for me) My personal 'goal' weight is 132 lbs. At 6 1/2 months out I started back at the gym 5 days a week 50 min cardio each day and 3 days a week I add 20 min strength training. I have a labral tear in my hip so it prevented me from being at the gym earlier on, with injections it's now kept the pain at bay. But, even at the gym the past 8 weeks rigorously, the weight loss has still been slow. My total caloric intake is between 700-900 calories a day on gym days and that's with subtracting what I burn off with cardio. On non gym days it's typically around 1000-1200 calories those days total. My surgeon said to expect to lose 60-70 percent of the excess body weight....although I'm hoping to lose all of it, we shall see. And, as everyone here always says.....'don't compare your weight loss to everyone else, we all lose at our own rate, we all hit stalls for weeks and weeks on end, it will come off". It will be a commitment to keep it off, some think once they lose they will never regain, ummm not true, you can regain, so keep track and God speed!! Karen
  11. Mine was 1 to 1 1/2 hrs surgery time alone. Maybe they are counting the 2hrs you have to be at the hospital pre op and the 1 to 1 1/2 hr recovery room time, that would total 5 hrs.
  12. As with everything, each surgeon has a different answer. My surgeon said there is no need for sleeve patients to have med alert tags, so I never got one.

  14. You look positively beautiful and I'm sure you feel just as amazing!! Thanx for being such a great role model with your journey, with your positivity and your encouragement, you're a gem!!! Thanx for sharing the great pics too!!! Karen :-)
  15. Way to go!! You look great!! We had the same starting weight, well I was 249 lbs, close enough. I am 5'5" and want to get down to 132 lbs so we'll see. I've slowed alot in month 7, 1-3 lbs this past month, but 6 inches, so it's still working, and working out helps, 5 days a week. I pray I'm at goal in 5 months!! Thanx for sharing and congrats again!!! Karen
  16. You look fabulous, and you are such a beautiful lady!! Thanx for sharing!!!
  17. I weigh every morning when I wake up!!
  18. Well as I thought, I hit another stall and lost 3 lbs this past month, so I'm still 5 lbs from what I thought I'd be at. Although I did lose 6 inches in that month which is great!! Oh well, it's good to keep trying!! I hope you all are doing well!! Karen
  19. Oh, and NancyDec, we SEE in the mirror what we've been seeing for years, so it is going to take us awhile to see the 'newer' version of ourselves. We will see it though eventually, I have faith :-)
  20. Thanx MichiganChic, it's slowly coming off and I feel so much better!! And as I just said in another topic, make sure to measure yourself once or twice a month, take bust, waist, hips, each thigh and arms measurements. And, then compare, you'll be surprised. This past month I lost 1-3 lbs, kept gaining 1 and then losing 2, gaining 2 losing 3, on and on all month, BUT I lost 6 inches total in that month. So, don't get discouraged either, although trust me, I KNOW it's hard not to. We ALL want to see the pounds coming off at least 8-10 lbs a month and it's just not going to happen with some of us. I keep telling myself I didn't gain it all in 6 months so I'm not going to lose it all in 6 months either, and I haven't LOL! Karen
  21. LOL MichiganChic at the "5 minutes in the 80's" remark....LOL that was cute, BUT yea I totally understand how you feel too. It's even hard to wrap your head around it once you lose alot that you are actually almost 'there'. We tend to still see the 'fatter' version of ourselves for a long while I feel. It takes time, but we'll see in the mirror sooner or later what others see as we're getting smaller.
  22. Sorry to hear this happened to you. Some people don't have this issue the whole way thru their weight loss which must be awesome!! I am further out than you, at 7 months post op, but just this past month I lost 1-3 lbs total, it kept going back and forth on the scale all month. I was about to do what you mentioned, throw the scale out the window, since I should know better by now with the few stalls I've had. But, I also measure myself every 2 weeks, and I lost 6 inches total this past month. So, please measure yourself once or twice a month, I'll bet you are losing inches if not pounds, AND yes, Water weight is definitely a factor in not losing or gaining a few pounds here and there. I understand your frustration, but just keep on doing what you're doing, eating right and exercising and it WILL all work out and cooperate for you!! I have to keep telling myself that too, trust me. Good luck and don't throw the scale, maybe just 'hide' it for a little? And, let the tape measure be your friend :-) Karen
  23. Yes, they do, I take Citrical 2 gummies per day. They chalky chewable calcium were just too tangy for me post op, I couldn't stomach them at all and asked my surgeon if I could take the gummies and he gave the ok. Good luck!!
