    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Hi All. My surgery was 8/28 and I've lost 20 lbs since surgery. I had lost 20 before so down 40. I feel pretty good and getting 70-80 grams of protein per day. Can eat about 2 oz of fish or chicken at a meal but having hard time getting enough calories. Doc wants me to get to 1200 and I really have to push it to get 900 calories. How are others doing with getting calories in and what works to get more? Don't want my body in starvation mode and stalling weight loss... Never thought I would have hard time getting enough calories!

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I had my sleeve on Aug 28 also. And I can definitely relate to the issues with getting enough protein and tolerating it. I am finding the Premier brand is giving me less side effects. The idea of trying samples is great advice too. The pulling is common due to stitches. I had that for a while but seems to be resolved now. Do be careful about lifting. I'm restricted to 10 lbs or less. You really do want to stick to your docs requirements - don't want to end up with hernia repair later! Best to you and good luck going back to work!

Congrats Kimmyiet! Lucky you to get mushy foods! I have to keep with the full liquids til Tuesday, end of my second week. Been challenging to get enough protein and calories. But I just made a drink with Pro Complex, banana, 1 tablespoon smooth Peanut butter and milk and have 39 grams of protein. I have to dress up those protein drinks to get 'em down!

I'm sorry to hear you are feeling bad. And you have a really important and exciting time coming up for your training. You'll need to be alert so it makes it hard to take the antiemetics. Wonder if you took one at night when going to bed it would help in am? Also are you taking Pepcid or something similar to manage stomach acid? Just some ideas to consider. Hope you find relief and good luck with your training!

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Saw my doc yesterday and he wants me to continue full liquids until 2 weeks post- op (next Tuesday). I'm having a really hard time getting the 80gram protein goal. He did say I could have cottage cheese but it has to be runny (yuck). I did have 1/2 cup mixed with some tomato bisque and got it down so 11 grams there. Icahn hardly face the protein drinks. On another note I was cleared to drive so went to chiropractor and then Pier 1 and Chicos . Too tired for planned pedicure so came home and took nap after my big day out. Hope you all are doing well. Better days are coming.

Surgery Date August 27Th, 2012- One Week Out!

Congrats on your 1st week! Sounds like you are doing well. I had my surgery Aug 28. I'm taking Vitamins and Biotin but didn't know about zinc. How much zinc do you take? I'm afraid of the hair loss thing too. I lost 65 pounds back in 2005 and hair was getting thin. Since I tend to be thinner on top I use Rogaine so hope that works for this journey. I'm really trying to get my Protein but today was a little rough. Seems I'm losing weight too fast. Will be glad to move onto soft phase. I see my surgeon tomorrow. Best to you!

    Glad To Join You

Hi! This is a great idea. Meditation provides a source of comfort and guidance for me. I have especially been focusing on surrendering what no longer serves me (excess weight, emotional eating) and setting intentions for successful adaptation to my new life. For me, the mind, body, spirit connection can not be disputed. I had my surgery August 28th and was also fortunate to have a healing touch practitioner work with me night before and day of surgery. Looking forward to sharing the journey. When did you have your surgery and how are you doing? Best to you...

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

My doc prescribed Pepcid 2x day and it seems to be working. I notice heartburn if I forget to take it. I also have not used pain meds since day of surgery. Doc ordered toradol in hospital and it worked great. I'm just POD 4 and freaked out when I weighed myself today and was down 9lbs from surger. Was feeling weak and dizzy. So focused on water and protein supplements and feel much better tonight. Also took advice of others here and started using my fitness pal app to keep track of intake. I had forgotten what a great tool it is. You can adjust your calorie goals as well as protein since our goals are different from usual weight loss plans.

    Intubation

It really isn't possible to incubate someone while awake. You will need to be sedated before intubation.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Hi all! I just had my sleeve on Aug 28. Feeling pretty good today with hardly any nausea. First couple of days were rough with pain from the CO2 and nausea but no vomiting. Today Started full liquids and sipping my protein drink and water with the medicine cup all day. I'm supposed to get 64 oz of fluids a day and it is hard! I am so glad I found this site. Reading all of the posts and support peopele give each other is inspiring. Im glad to be on this journey with you!
