  1. Caster oil for your scars. It is the only thing that actually penetrates your scars and softens them so that you don't get that hard gristly feel to them.
  2. loved Gmans comment on another thread like this one: At times in this life we are thrust into the inescapable presence of unpleasant people: the rude clerk at the DMV, the soap-allergic olfactory offender in the grocery line, the sulphuric mother of the sweet woman you are hopelessly in love with. Everything here is behind glass, it cannot hurt you without your permission, you can defeat any attack by the simple tap of a finger or voice command and go on unscathed with your life. Other than regular rules moderating by hosts and admins lecturing folks on being nice is an exercise in wheel spinning. The bad people are bad so they won't listen, the good people don't need to hear it. In my life the offensive people that I have the freedom to escape are normally dealt with by employing my best defensive tactic.... not being there. When I see their name, when I hear their voice, I occupy other space and experience other environs. My life is fraught with trouble enough without subjecting myself to self-torture. Forums like this remind me of a guy working quality inspection on a conveyer belt of peanuts. You occasionally see a bad nut, don't eat it, put it aside, move on.
  3. Yup! Awesome! Write it down so you can remember all the things that changed for you...
  4. This is very common. They pulled your stomach out of a small hole. It will take time for the soreness to dissipate. I found holding my hand on the site helped keeping it in place so that it did not stretch out when I got up or moved. You may want to try that. This will pass.
  5. You have or had a fever. GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM NOW! Trust me you don't want to play with this. And if it is not a leak there is some complication. The fever tells your body you have an infection. It would be best to know whether it is a leak or just getting a cold.... Please go!
  6. Check your temperature. And if it is up even slightly. Get to the ER... Would be good to go anyway just to ease your mind. A leak is a great fear of most WLS patients!
  7. My hubby who has never ever in his life had to worry about one thing he ate. Could not gain weight for the life of him. Miss a meal and lose 10 lbs. kinda guy. The other day he called me into the bedroom and told me his belt shrunk. I said, 'honey leather belts don't shrink.' And he said,' this one did and also my pants. Your washing them in hot Water aren't you?' I said, 'no, your eating everything on your plate and almost mine as well.' In which he replied, 'I never have to worry about what I eat. Look at me.' I said, yup I'm looking at your expanding waist!' LOL
  8. When I was where you are. I shopped for high Protein content and less sodium and sugars. Calories were secondary because I could not eat much just like you. I was nervous myself too. Just remember protein is number one. K
  9. Right now, you are getting used to the new program and if you have to eat else where to do it so be it. But you do have to learn to eat with others. It is awkward for sure. I remember everyone stopping their talking to watch me eat. I felt very freaked out. But soon they got used to it and now other then them trying to attack my leftovers I have no problem with it. Each day is a new day, handle what you can today and take on something else tomorrow. You will get there like all the rest of us. This is just one of the many changes that are starting to hit you as you travel this road. One thing at a time. One step at a time.....K
  10. Your right @@gmanbat they are cute little rascals. A whole room eh...You must love them a lot. Glad your still working the sleeve, I had no doubt!
  11. crackers and light tea. Should help.... And waiting it out.. Bet you'll think twice about doing that again....
  12. Just got a new to the family dog. He is a Shi-poo. Love him...3 months old now and I take him for walks every day. He picks up every leaf, twig and stone on the way. Better then a street cleaner...lol
  13. Have missed you @@gmanbat Nice to have you back! How are you anyway?
  14. I believe that we go around and around this issue as well. And no one gets tired of replying to this topic...So what is the difference when people ask the same questions over and over again? We chose to comment when it suits us and the way we comment suits us. Maybe this topic is over used on this forum. And we feel we have to defend our comments. Which we don't as long as we show respect and have the right motives. Just saying that we all see things differently and have had different experiences and learned different things. We all have the right to express these truths. Our truths. But when it gets to being unkind. Then the line is drawn. Then the hosts have to step in and monitor. Using the expression B***H in the thread was a draw for many. And as @@CowgirlJane pointed out it was against rules. I did not see it that way either at first. I guess it can be difficult to express any opinions without someone taking offence. Me included. So I will leave this to someone else to continue to follow and monitor this thread. Almost 2000 people have read it! Wow! If 2000 people would read other types of topics.....Just saying. Maybe more would be accomplished and learned......
  15. Maybe so.....But tonight it seems there is more unpleasantness then before. I will check it out with Alex and see what he says about it. thank you for pointing that out.
  16. I know you are here to do just that. I mean the name calling...I have to monitor this forum. It is probably the hardest one to follow....So I am one among others that are responsible to keep it nice. That's all I'm saying..
  17. Lets keep this on rule based replies please! Lets also remember why we are on here in the first place and that is to help one another get through the real stuff that is happening regarding WLS. K, thanks!
  18. Good for you! I do mine now as well. Love it! Keep up the good work and write down those NSV so that you can read them later to remind yourself how far you have come!
  19. Anything that is not dense Proteins... Can be considered a slider. If you are capable of eating more then you should then that is a slider. Cookies, popcorn, carbs, fruit, candy, french fries, ice cream, nuts, pizza etc. It is not that all of these things are bad for you because they are not. But if you only eat Pasta. It will not stay in your pouch long because the flap will not close to the small intestine. It will go right through and not allow the stomach to do its job and that is to start the digestive process. So that is why it is said to eat dense proteins ( fish, pork, beef, chicken, bean, legumes, whatever ) first then veggies, fruit and lastly carbs. We need all these things plus fats to stay healthy. We just need to put them in place A combination of carbs and Protein make a complete protein and that is good for your sugars which everything we eat is turned into sugar. http://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-complex-carbohydrates.html
  20. I agree with you 100%. That is what I am trying to say. I have been told that I offend those sometimes who tell it like it is. Well I will not apologize for that. It will happen and I have had it happen to me. But like you said and I agree, we need to help each other not berate each other to make this forum successful. I remember being so frightened and this site saved my bacon a few more times then I can count. Those people who were on here and experienced, been through it and knew the pain, mentally, emotionally and physically were there for me. Most of them are gone now!!!!!!!!!! So I try to emulate how they treated me. I can name them but it would fill a thread. I still wish they were here because they could encourage these new ones and those with problems and those like me who struggle every day to keep it together because of my complications and past life. I have never seen you take shots at anyone and I respect your journey. I will try to stay as long as I can help others. when I become useless. I will go as well. Until then...I will fight to help in a kind manner. ( the best way I know how ) Thank you for your compliment by the way....I think you rock it too!!!!!
  21. I have talked about this issue many times and there seems to be many opinions about it. I feel you get more flies with honey and that driving your opinion home with a nine Iron can only hurt someone in the long run. That being said I also think that if you have an opinion you are welcome to it as it is a free country but I personally am not interested in hurting people, nor tickling ears. I am just interested in answering the questions the best way I know how. Through my own experience and what I have learned. The rest is up to the the readers to decide if what I say is valuable or not. Following the forums rules is number one for me and the other is to teach and inform from my personal research and experience.
  22. I think my response would have not even been the slightest bit polite....I would have told them ' why don't you just go and ------------ yourself. That is the rudest thing I have ever heard..... Here is a better reply. I have already been the biggest loser the day I met you. You arse! boy am I steamed over this comment by this fool!
  23. My hubby has been a real help to me. He says all the time when I talk about the loose skin. We are not there yet. What he means is deal with the first step and then the second and then the third. and so on....One step at a time. One issue at a time. Health. Fixing your relationship with food. Loving yourself. Taking care of you. And so on. Learning to eat clean. All these things need to be addressed before skin. I am almost 2 years out and now I have 2 appointments with plastics....I am excited but scared to death about that...My record has not been good in this journey for complications...but I will go forward and just keep swimming..... And so should you! One thing is that we never know what we consume until we really start the process. We don't realize that our metabolism is on the fritz. Did you know that a 600 lb person can live easily on 300 calories a day without losing weight because of the shut down of their metabolism. So that could be the issue right there.....Your team will know how to help and we are here to encourage you to move forward and keep positive no matter what!
  24. This is a site that offers information, experiences and compassion. However! There are those who do not know how to write their feelings down with tact. There are those that sugar coat everything and others that hit you right between the eyes. Don't apologize for your point of view but be prepared for several view points on what you say. You are not wrong in your thinking as far as being so soon out of surgery to do those things. But it is out there as a question and a fact. A learning example of experience or knowledge of the procedure. Continue to question or relate your knowledge as you experience it and take no comments personally. There are thousands of people on here in different stages of surgery and like the poster said before some are emotional wrecks. Some just want to do what they want. Others are really wanting to know what to do. And others somewhere in between. Nothing regarding WLS has prepared me for it more then experiencing it. But that is just me. I don't think that you need to feel bad unless you name called..... Don't pull away. Just find what you need on here as others do and stay away from the bullies. They are on every forum. But there are a lot of helpful, well meaning people on here that truly want to help.....
