  1. It is important that you get the best bang for your buck so to speak. When you eat and drink at the same time it dilutes your food and it opens the flap at the bottom of your stomach and the food more liquid will slide out of your stomach and into your intestines. The stomach has its work to do. It starts the digestion process and then it moves it on to the small intestine to do more digesting, and so on. The only exception to this for me is Cereal. Some us use yogurt and others eat it Protein drinks. I use milk. It is a good habit to not drink with your meals or even Snacks unless your snack is liquid. Now I have heard of some who drink with their meals. But I don't suggest it.
  2. I want a Jaguar too but that is not happening either. It is what it is. PUT THAT scale AWAY! Stop the incessant weighing it will only lead to self sabotage. Everyone is conditioned to look at numbers. It is not numbers. It is how you feel. would you feel so bad if you were not looking at the numbers but were excited about the changes that are happening in your life. The things you can do now that you could not do before. The control you are showing with your ex ( comfort food ) Your body will stall. It is called body at rest. Your body is going through big changes. Still healing and needs time to adjust....PATIENTS hun.......When your body is ready it will drop the weight. It will do it on your time not Joan's or Jane's. Yours.
  3. Dried apple crisps. Skinny popcorn. Measure out the 3 cups and there you go. However this will not solve the issue of grazing. But one thing at a time right. I have the most trouble at night. It seems that that is when I get my most blood sugar attacks. I am working so hard to find high Protein low calorie food for then. It is difficult to learn what is best for that. However changing your brain will change your body...Water, lots of Water as well....it can fill you up as well. okay!
  4. Actually I have known some pretty nice ER docs myself in the past and my daughter has a few that are friends of hers as well....All changed when I had WLS. It is like some horrendous thing happened that they cannot fathom. What it comes down to is that they are not prepared to look after us. And they are not taught enough about emotional, and mental changes and so ill equipped to handle us. Me I much prefer the older Doctors who have learned fellow feeling with experience. Some of these new out of the gate Doctors have giant ego's. if you don't treat a human being kindly when they are putting their lives in your hands at any time any where then they aren't worth sh*t.
  5. I know. I have a friend who has had similar circumstances. We are like a duel night mare. I feel so bad for my team. 2 out of over 700. What are the odds. My surgeon has me on some pretty strong stuff now so that an ulcer won't happen either. I worry the poor guy is going to have a nervous break down dealing with the 2 of us. Different complications but same surgery....
  6. I did make a stink another time and got the head nurse transferred to another floor...It took a lot of convincing and the staff assisted in it as well. But this guy. I think he was wanting to hear 20 lbs. But when it was 211, I think he was taken back and said something dumb. I also think that he was processing it the entire time I was there. But did not say anything more. It did stick with me that he made it sound like nothing but then that is really his problem not mine. He is a new doctor like all the others that get their time in emerg so they can finish their training and go on to be just another one who does not have an answer for those who suffer from this disease. It is sad really. Because there is not one doctor so far that has given me the time of day here to help when I have needed to find out if I should head back to my surgeon....They help in the medical part but then they fluff me off...... I would love to do my part to change this conduct but it is like talking to walls. Or a dirty secret we need to keep in the closet. I am so confused by the way the medical field acts around this province. I can't do it alone. I just can't. But no one is talking. No one wants to come out of the weed work to make things better. It is so hard!
  7. You would need a gang..lol
  8. Well I have mentioned it on the boards before. At 18 months I got another leak. Which is more common to those who get a Rue n Y procedure. The leak caused an abscess and I had a drain put in and now the CT scan showed the abscess still has Fluid in it but not enough to do me harm.....go figure eh!
  9. like I said I was not expecting the happy dance. But in the past when I came in there with issues it was always my weight. Now it is WLS. No one seems to be content with what ever you do. It is disheartening at times. I paid dearly for this and happy to have done it. You would think if he had nothing nice to say don't comment at all. I hope he wasn't thinking oh she took the easy way out...Because if he had said that I would have crushed him! Not joking either!
  10. Holy crap. Why so bruised. i had 12 holes when all was said and done and did not bruise like that in the incision areas. WOW! Caster oil girl. Hit them with it every day and the scars will soften. It is the only thing that penetrates scar tissue!
  11. I have had little or no support here since I had my surgery. Everyone who finds out in the medical field looks at me like I have lost my mind. They never treat me and always send me back where I got the surgery. I don't get it I really don't. I am in the public eye because of my complications. But no one seems to be interested in it all at all. Even when I explained to him that I had complications he did not let me finish. He just said yah, yah. And I stopped talking! It is really cold here if you have had WLS.
  12. You know what the thing is @@Babbs he was well in the obese zone himself and was eating every time I saw him after that. And every time I saw him after that he looked me up and down. Like he really wanted to say something else but thought better of it.....
  13. It would be wonderful if that remained that way but most people find that their fighting the old battles after a time. I fight carbs all the time esp. sweets. I try to limit to baby Cookies or tea biscuits. Not every day but most times when cravings hit. On the other hand I can't stand tuna. But eat a lot of Beans and fish. I have been having issues with beef. On and off relationship. Pork as well does not like me. I am always trying new things now to find eating interesting because I can only eat so much eh. Getting the most bang for my buck. Good luck!
  14. Spent the day in emerg yesterday. Pain still under my left rib cage. All tests said I was good except there is still some Fluid in my abscess but not enough to worry about..Okay we will see! That is not what got me. The attending physician asked me if I had Bariatric surgery. I said yes and he said so this abscess has been here a while then. I said yes. Then he looked me up and down and asked when I had the surgery. I said almost 2 years ago...Hardly got the words out when he said, 'how much did you lose?' I said 211 lbs. He replied, 'ummm not bad I guess.' in a drone voice.... What the H*ll! I was gob smacked. I did not expect him to do a dance of joy but it would have been nice if he had at least said how do you feel about that. Or are you happy you have lost that much. What would have been the magic number to get him to say terrific... What a idiot!
  15. This Kindle is where you inferred that you can't lie which implied that those who don't tell the four corners of the earth are. Everyone lies! Everyone does it daily in one way or another. To say I was not raised that way is a noble gesture. I was not raised that way either. Does not mean that I don't lie. I am not a pathological liar. Those are the scary ones.
  16. Yup it is true. She took the poll when I was in the hospital with complications due to my choices. We have only talked once and that was the time she told me she had done that. We have had no conversations since. I thought we were friends. But then I thought I was friends with others who dumped me too. I thought for a while I must be a horrible person. But I think what I was was a person who did a lot for others and when it came time for me to need them. They were just to busy to even care. Artificial friends! I have a bunch..Anyone looking for some! LOL
  17. Sorry should have been clearer. Yes nutritionist. This one specializes in Bariatrics so she is very helpful....
  18. Her words not mine....lol! I doubt you would allow yourself to fail..I think you got this!
  19. I know what you were referring to. I too think that nuts in the traditional way can be demeaning to us. I mean who really should follow the 5 food groups? Who even came up with that? And I think it was formed in the 50's. Hello. Times have changed get cracking with the times. I know it was not personal. I just wanted to let you know that there are some out there that really know their stuff. I got one. One thing went right eh.. But you are right, most of them are stuck on the 5 major food groups and they have little bed side manner.
  20. My nut is part of the Bariatric team. She is like no other nut. She believes in moderation and balance in all things except things that can hurt your surgery. You would be thrilled to have her. She is amazing and has been there for me whenever I have needed her. She taught me to eat again after 5.5 months of not eating. She believes we live in the real world and need to eat in the real world. I am not brain washed, I have learned a lot from this lady!
  21. I am a tea drinker. I drink more tea now then I ever had before. One in the morning. The mug is the size of New York City. lol 1 at three, a British thing you know. And one after dinner to wind down my long day! My nut told me there are worse things I could be doing. I took her at her word and that is what I do.
  22. If I were you I would limit my time with her for now. I would also not give her dietary advice as she is angry and this will only make her retaliate. You do what is right for you and leave her be. She has to come to grips with her own issues. You yours! For now you have to concentrate on what made you tick. What drew you to food as a comfort and work to change your thinking. This is a time for you to think of you and only you. It sounds selfish but so what.It is your time okay. Also we allow others to treat us the way WE think we should be treated. It is time to stop the abuse and let it be one of the issues you will work on to make you feel better about yourself. Enough is enough! It is never to late to change things up.
  23. It expands your stomach and since we have little room it can cause some serious issues. Also it is a big red flag as there is no nutritional value to it at all and pushes the need for artificial sugars or the refined sugar to the extreme. My nut told me that if she sees a patient who drinks soda of any kind it means they are doomed. I took that seriously. I do not drink soda of any kind. Others can handle it. Me nope, and now that I have hypoglycemia (reactive) It is no longer even a thought.
