  1. Hello fellow Oregon sleevers!! So glad you joined this group! I was sleeved 2 weeks ago and have lost a total of 20 lbs so far including my preop diet of 6 days... Pretty exciting! I have had no complications with the exception of a few nuances here and there..... especially the one my daughter calls the "deer in headlight syndrome" after you eat something to fast and your eyes bug out and you can't talk for 5 minutes because your new tummy can't digest it that quickly!! So I was thinking about maybe starting a once a month meetup where we can all meet, chat, and support each other?!? We can maybe even do an activity?! Let me know if anyone's interested! ~ Sally
  2. No problem ask as many questions as you want!! I did! Ha! My procedure lasted 50 minutes! She's that good! And I followed the preop diet to shrink my liver so it makes for an easier surgery I started purée foods yesterday... No nausea at all thank god!! Main challenge is just getting to know my new stomach and slowing down eating/drinking.... Feelings of being to so fulll after eating such a small amount has been a little weird.... Social events have been a little challenging because everything revolves around food.... Having to explain my surgery to friends/ family who are ignorant and opinionated was an exhausting and irritating challenge!! Although I have gotten to the point that I don't give a crap what anybody thinks!! I did it for me! So are you from Oregon? You should join my new Oregon sleevers group!! Ps..... I've lost 20 pounds!!! Yippee!

    2 Hour Count Down!

Good luck sweetie!! Prayers and good thoughts your way! Keep us posted!
  4. I started mine the day of surgery!! Ha! I'm 12 days post op and my doctor wanted me to start each day with a Protein drink! I'll tell you I feel much better having the protein.... How are you getting your protein in?
  5. So what do you mean by the weight loss period and what did you do? I am 11 days post op and I have to admit I am missing cheese and carbs!! I also don't want to stretch my pouch! Any ideas are great!
  6. I am only 10 days post op and have felt so good that I decided to join my group in our annual 5k race for the cure walk yesterday! I made it to the finish! Felt so good I had to share! Walking and plenty of water has been the best medicine for a speedy recovery!
  7. Hi there! The no catheter was great! I hate those things.. It's such a short surgery and your up and around so quick after... However if you need one they will give it to you! One night was fine for me... No complications at all and no side effects... I am 11 days post op and did the 5k race for the cure yesterday! Ha! Dr Halpin did a great job! When are you being sleeved?
  8. Maybe your mom, if she so called supports you, should take her grandson more often and give him some attention while you tend to the needs of getting healthy so you can be around to keep that job and give attention to your son!! Wink-wink ps... He's 14... At that age The world revolves around them and they think there is never enough attention given to them! As the saying goes " if it's not one thing its your mother"! Haha good luck my friend!

    I Am Freaking Out

I am nine days post op with absolutely no complications! I feel great and am so glad I did this! Remember the bad stories you hear are the1%.... 99% come out just fine with maybe a few hiccups like nausea, acid reflux, etc and those subside... You are at greater risk staying the way you are with hypertension, sleep apnea and probably a knee and hip replacement which are by far more dangerous surgeries... Insurance companies would not be picking up the tab for these surgeries if their benefits did not outweigh the risks.. As long as you have a good surgeon you will be fine! Do your kids and YOURSELF a favor and follow through with it!! Best of luck and we are here to support you!!
