    Books

I know that this brand is the brunt of many jokes, but WLS for Dummies is pretty good.
  2. Thanks, Dana!! Waiting for yours! :-) -Judy
  3. I'll add mine even though i'm only halfway there 255 pounds. (Me sitting down and miserable.) Last nite. 55 pounds less. (I'm in the baggy white sweater. It's too cozy to give up!)

Why do we candy coat everything?

I'm going to date myself with this comment.....eons and many moons ago that word was originally 'coined' to mean someone who had refined tastes. Not someone who overate. As the English language tends to do so well, it bastardized it and now it means 'person who eats too much.' Scrabble anyone? . Actually, I banned myself from that and Word w Friends 'cause i was getting nothin' done!!

    Work Out Pants

That's the plus of being in the Water...no one can see your clumsiness!! It's great.

    Work Out Pants

So....i tried the weight/workout area. I decided it's just not for me at this time. Doesn't mean it won't be in my future. But what's funny is obviously my issue isn't that I care about what people think of me. (Because they don't, and I always knew that!) Now 3-4 times a week I prance around in a bathing suit!! Oh yeah! Flaunting my cottage cheese thighs. :-) I've discovered that water aerobics is 'my thing.' Even do water Zumba. Now that's a challenge trying to get my hips to move in ways they haven't moved since I was a teen.

    Why am i craving sex

My guess would be yes. Why don't you ask in the mens room & let us know. 'Cause I want to know!!

    Some people here are meanies

Well.....not quite. You can report people and their posts get reviewed. I think if they are found to be violating rules, they get a warning. If continued, then banned. If it's really bad, then yes, they'll get banned immediately. The reason I want to clear that up is because it's important that we do follow the basic rules on this board, but being a meanie doesn't automatically mean being banned (unfortunately, in some cases.). Like someone previously mentioned, what may seem mean to one person, isn't necessarily mean to another. :-) That being said, there has been a lot snippy going on but I think the tide is changing, thankfully.

    Ideas for Sleeve Friendly Sweets?

I LOVE the coconut ones!! I freeze them. They take longer to eat that way. Word to the OP: just be careful w sugar alcohols. It affects people differently, but they can have a laxative affect.

Can I See Meals/portion Sizes Please?

I think this poster meant that the surgery was well worth it, not the eating too much and throwing up....i think. But this is a perfect example of how people read things differently. :-) I also tried the 'catching up.' Man, that so doesn't work, does it? Which is a good thing for me because I used to not eat all day & gorge at night. Can't do that anymore!
  12. I just went out to eat at macaroni Grill last nite. I did go 'all out' but it was a celebratory family meal and i knew all week so i worked out extra hard and was careful all week. And I'll do the same next week. I had the lobster raviolis and Moscato wine. I ate 3/4 of my meal and let my 28 yo son eat the rest. Last night confirmed to me that Pasta is my slider food. I'm almost 5 months out and I was able to get much more than i had expected. But it was so worth it! I ate like a normal person, felt like a normal person and didn't have one moment of 'omg, people are looking at the fat woman eating pasta!' Anyway, like many said here, just be aware. If you want to splurge, just be extra careful in your other choices. If you go out to eat a lot, do your homework and make smart choices.

    Losing breast weight

Mine went from DDD to a small C the first month. Flat and droopy. A few months ago someone said theirs looked like streetlights now. That's what mine look like! The balloon analogy was great too!! But i gotta say, they look nice in a bra, so I don't know if I'll go for a lift. I'm 51. And as of now, I'm kinda tired of surgeries.

    almost four months!

Pinky- I think you meant 8/23/2012? I had mine 8/21. I also had a hard time the first month. And 6 weeks to the day after my sleeve i needed my gallbladder out. I'm down 54 pounds and am also in a size 16, was a 24. So we have lots of similarities. I'm 51 yo. It's not an easy surgery or a walk in the park for most of us. But I think, across the board, 99% of us are ultimately glad we had it done. But i agree, sometimes I'm like 'what? Only 54 pounds??!' But then I realize that it's 54 darn pounds i will never see again. And like you, I get excited! I also get excited because I feel so much better and have much more energy! I'm glad that you are doing good!! How much more weight would you like to lose? I'm about halfway there.
  16. Ok....i'll buy that....sort of. I think some docs go the extreme to be really cautious. Preventing a leak is a lot easier than fixing one. Docs also don't want to get sued. But beyond that, after the surgery we ARE swollen. And it's hard to tell when we are full. And also, our stomachs were just chopped up and staples inserted. So it just makes sense to let our stomachs rest and allow them to heal. That's my 2cents. :-)

You can gain weight after VSG.

I've heard that same thing from my doc's front office assitant! I have to go in there once a month, so i've heard the same thing once a month for 4 months :' omg! I'm so jealous! I want this surgery so I can stop eating too!!' ??? I've given up correcting her. I just nod and smile.
  18. For those of you who have this and have been sleeved, how are you handling your liquids while eating. I am allowed to take little sips while I eat otherwise digestion is nearly impossible. But at 4+ months out i'm noticing i am starting to drink more than maybe i should. Thanks!! Judy

    Green shake anyone?

Cat, I've done a shake almost like this but w/o the Syrup. I also think that you are the one who suggested it to me a few months ago? It's yummy but you are correct....greens would be gross in this. Ok...back to the drawing board. Something w vanilla protein powder and greens? Forget the blueberries. Did you try to make a shake w the food processor yet? I'm curious about that.

    Green shake anyone?

How about a vanilla shake? I don't like chocolate shakes. I'd be willing to make one if you can come up w a decent tasting one w/o choc powder. Vanilla powder and blueberries. Where would you go from there? (The challenge is on!). :-)

    Green shake anyone?

I'd love to get one but just can't justify the cost for just me. I'm going to use my Oster blender (which is pretty good) until i decide if shakes are going to be in my diet forever. Or until my Oster konks out. :-)
  22. doxieville

    Green shake anyone?

So....how long does a shake last before it goes bad? My problem is it's just me. And that's a lot of work for just me, for one drink. Remember, I'm the QUEEN of lazy cooking. I'm trying really hard to do quality food now, but it's not exciting to cook for one. (My husband isn't on board w my meal plan at all. He supports me, but won't join me.).
