zumba! turbo jam! p90x! insanity!...... work out.
    pick up a new hobby..
    get out of the house..
    .
find new friends.. the kind that are interested in being healthy and fit or that are at least working on it..
    get a workout/accountability buddy..
get away from whatever's causing you to slip up..
get rid of all your "bad" food.. go donate it to some charity or give it to someone homeless you see on the street.
i've seen where people take public transit to and from work, so they can't stop by places and get things to eat..
carry less money, only enough for gas or whatever is estimated that you need for the day.. don't bring your ATM card or any credit cards, so you won't have enough money to buy something extra for yourself to snack on..
try seeking therapy of some sort, so they can help you manage whatever issue(s) is causing you to binge eat.. there's a reason for it, if you deal with the reason, you won't need to binge.
go for a hike, go somewhere away from people & pray or meditate or sit there and enjoy the beauty of nature & take a break from your life & stress & chill for an hour or two..
rewatch the surgery on youtube, so you can see what was done to you and how drastic that is & freak yourself out, so you get back on track... that one is a little negative, but i mean you just have to do whatever you gotta do to be successful...even if it means freaking yourself out to do it or even if it means packing up your stuff and driving 1/2 way across the country and not telling anybody goodbye.. put yourself & your health first, front & center!
i dunno what your problems are.. but.. just throwing ideas out there. lol you gotta get your mind off of food somehow..
if you just want to chew on something, try chewing on some gum.. smack it like there's no tomorrow. lol stick half a pack of gum in your mouth if that's what it takes. lol
if you actually want to eat stuff, you could look into making yourself some tokoroten.. it's a cold noodle dish, where it's basically zero calories. the noodles are jelly-like & are made from agar agar (a type of seaweed)... the only thing that has calories is the broth you put them in and the vegetables you put in there with them.. but it's something to fill you up that isn't too bad for you & is virtually zero calories...
"The glassy tokoroten noodles are served in different ways depending on the region. In most of the country, including the regions surrounding Tokyo, Nagoya and Hiroshima, tokoroten is a savory dish served with nihaizu (a 1:1 mix of rice vinegar and soy sauce) or sanpaizu (rice vinegar, soy sauce and dashi stock). The noodles and sauce are chilled, and served with a little karashi (Japanese mustard), toasted sesame seeds or nori seaweed on top.
Savory tokoroten has almost no calories and is about 98 percent Water, with plenty of water-soluble Fiber in the agar, and the vinegar sauce helps to awaken your appetite for more nutritious food"

soy sauce has Protein in it, because it's made from soy.. dashi is made from kelp and fish, so it has Protein and minerals from the kelp. sesame seeds have Fiber & protein and if you put the nori on there, you'd get iodine, Iron, and other minerals from that sea weed...
hope i helped.. i do hope you get better & will overcome whatever is going on with you that's causing you to eat. <3

Shirataki noodles are made from yam/sweet potato flour, but they have little to no calories in them, too.. so you could use those as well.. the clear ones, i mean.. the tofu ones are high in Protein and you could use those, too.. but they have more calories. hungry girl made alfredo with tofu shirataki noodles and some of that 35 calorie baby bell cheese or whatever it's called.. if i remember right, it was under 100 calories a serving..
anyway, point is, you can do this.. grab this second chance by the bawls and go for it, girl! LOL (i intentionally misspelled that)

Just my thoughts here. The Protein to carb ratio in a wonton is typically more sleeve friendly. A thin wonton wrapper stuffed with Protein should fill you and you get a good amount of protein. A bowl of pasta is typically mostly carbs so you will fill up on that before you get in your protein requirements.

I'm almost 5 months out and I mess up on occasion... My thought is this... Moderation is key!! I didn't have this procedure to be on a diet the rest of my life. I had it to help give me the control that I lacked when it came to food. You ate a soft pretzel... so what?? Just watch what you eat the next few days and you will get back on track... I had some Chef Boyardee Beefaroni this evening for dinner... Not the most healthy choice but I had a craving, I ate about 1/2 a cup and now I am full and good to go... 6 months ago I was eating a whole can of Beefaroni along with a grilled cheese AND Doritos!! LOL
I want and STILL enjoy some of my favorite foods..... I'm almost 90lbs down in 5 months so I must be doing something right!!! LOL

    Hi Everybody,
Did it! Done it! My surgery was on Monday and it went so smooth! Dr. Ortiz is the bomb! Had an awesome experience! I am a revision... so, I had my band removed and the sleeve done at the same time. The doctor said I had alot of scar tissue around the band and a tiny hernia...but, they fixed all that.
The IV was the hardest part of the whole process. For being a big girl... I have tiny veins and they are hard to find and hit! Ended up getting poked 5 times before they got it...but, if that is the worst... then I consider myself very very lucky!
I was in OR for about an hour and a half... pretty groggy when I came out... my friend, Stacy had two heads for awhile. Smile!
Got up about three time to go to the restroom... had a little nausea, but the nurse gave me something for that right away and haven't had any other problems with that again.
Woke up at about 6:00am Tuesday and read and relaxed until I was discharged at about 10:30 am. No pain, no gas... felt good! The drain was the most uncomfortable part, which felt like I had a stitch in my side (like you get when you run alot).
Got back to the Marriott (great hotel) and took a taxi up to Walmart for a walk around, and then walked back to the hotel. Had some Water and chicken broth for dinner and as long as I sip slowly... no problems.
On Wednesday... back to the clinic to have my drain checked... all good. Went to the dentist and had my teeth cleaned and then back to the hotel for a nap. broth and hot tea for dinner and called it a night.
Today... got my drain out...yeah! Two days ahead of schedule! Just relaxing and resting today.
Tomorrow... head back across the border and will have two days in San Diego before I fly back home on Sunday. Thinking about going to the Zoo and doing a little shopping!
Overall, I am sooo glad that I had this done and very excited about getting to onederland! Dr. Ortiz and Obesity Control Center is the absolute greatest and I highly recommend him to any and all!
Thank you to everybody that sent me your thoughts and prayers and I am ready to get this journey started!
    Cheers, Dottie

I was really lucky my first two weeks post surgery... pre-surgery I'd tried various Protein drinks, and the one I liked best pre AND post surgery was the EAS low carb chocolet (not the fudge) - or anything else actually Frankly, besides Water, I had nothing else but 4-5 of those a day.
    now, stage 3 - that's a different story.
    Best of luck!

lemon, lime, blueberry, raspberry.. pretty much any kinda berry is low in sugar.. even on an anti-candida diet, you can have berries & lemon or lime. also, apple is another good fruit that's got Fiber & is low in sugar.

I actually have 3 different totals. There's my highest weight ever. When I finally said enough is enough I need to lose weight and tried doing it on my own. I lost some but not much. Then there's the weight I was on the day on my first consultation with my Surgeon. He wanted me to keep trying to lose some weight before surgery cuz every pound dropped helps. And then the weight I weighed the morning of surgery.
Going by the weight the morning of surgery I'm down 70lbs
Going by the weight the day of the Consultation I'm down over 100lbs
Going by the highest weight Ive been I'm down about 135lbs

nyxa reacted to Bronxbubbles in Question About Hunger
So I'm still pre-op, and I was at a support group meeting last night at my hospital. At the end of the meeting, the leader allows all the pre-ops to ask the post-ops any questions they may have regarding the surgery. I asked a question but I didn't get a clear answer, so I'll ask my question here...
I understand that after we get sleeved our stomachs are about 85% smaller than they were pre-op... But my question is this, when you are very hungry, and you eat something (and fill up very quickly because your stomach is so small) do you feel full and satisfied, or full and still hungry?
I ask this because I have a big appetite, and while I know the sleeve is a tool to help me eat less, I'm afraid of being full AND hungry (if it's possible). And just to be clear I'm talking about real hunger, not head hunger.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks!!

I had a pretty good appetite before as well. I felt full and satisfied post op, no hunger issues at all. I believe it is just a mental thing everyone needs to work on. Sure, I looked at what I ate and said..."how can I be full already?" but I didnt dwell on it and I was good. Trust me, you dont want too overeat...it is freakin miserable. If you take one extra bite it feels like it is stuck in your throat! I am 7 months out and eat anything I want only very small amounts, of course I make better choices now but I sure am not depriving myself. Best of luck....you can do this!

I am 1 week out. When I had Breakfast today I decided on yogurt. There is NO way I can finish an entire container. So I save 1/2 of it for lunch or for tomorrow. I definately feel full and not at all hungry when I am done.
Yesterday I did not feel hungry at all and had to remind myself to get my Protein in!
    Such a great feeling!!!!!

nyxa reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Question About Hunger
First off, most of us do not experience hunger like we did before. When hey reduce the size of your stomach the remove most of the portion that produces the hormone that causes hunger(ghrelin).
We eat more on a schedule than on a "hunger" trigger. Also in the earlier phases it is also very important to portion your meals because your stomach will be nimb for the most part & it is easy to over eat.
The feeling of fullness is definately different instead of a swollen plated feeling you will feel a pressure against your esophagus. Again, Portion Control should keep this from happening. Our goal is to nourish our bodies, not to fill our tummies.
Hope that helps, if not, restate your question and I'll try again
P.S. ghrelin only disappears for a period of time, it will return in much smaller amounts.

I loved my vanilla Chike! Powder pre-surgery and now i can't stand it. I REALLY didn't think that would happen to me. My tastes for sweets may come back, but I'm really glad I didnt waste a bunch of money.
