  1. I am totally new to this whole forum thing but I am love'n it' date=' support is helpful - surgery is Sept 12th

Sent from my iPhone using VST[/quote']

Welcome ready4change!! I'm sorta new here also & have fallen in love with all the wonderful ppl & their points if view!! Makes u feel not so alone on this journey...good luck on the 12th!! 2 days b4 me-let us kno how it goes :)

  2. I am on day 6 of my 2 week pre-op diet and wanted to share a couple of the recipes with you that have been helping me get through this time! All of these are additions to vanilla Protein shakes. Enjoy!

Gingerbread shake: Add a dash of each: nutmeg' date=' cloves, cinnamon, and ground ginger along with a tablespoon of sugar free caramel coffee flavoring.

Morning coffee Shake: Add a single serve packet of instant Decaf coffee a tablespoon of sugar free chocolate Syrup, and a dash of cinnamon

Coconut cream pie shake: Add a teaspoon of coconut extract, a dash of cinnamon, and a tablespoon of caramel coffee flavoring

"Mounds" shake: Add a teaspoon of coconut extract and a tablespoon of chocolate syrup

I have several more, but these are a few of my favorites that go beyond the standard chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. :-)[/quote']

Love these ideas-& where did u find pb extract???

  3. You can always just try it-but just a few pieces like NewMan was saying. popcorn is a slider food, and oh so delicious, so try and not let it get away from you...I don't live far from Chicago, and theres a place called Garrett's.....one word-LETHAL. Good luck!!

  4. I know my surgeon took it out of one of the 7 incisions he made through a little tube that look like a turkey marinator. I didn't get to physically see it but he did show me which incision he took it out of! a slightly larger incision but it is still very small to imagine it came out of that.

Also' date=' if you go on Youtube you can find short 5 min videos of a sleeve being performed. Quite interesting I may say! What a few of them.[/quote']

I agree-you tube can put fears to rest......or give ya some new ones too ;)

  5. I was told Dr. Ponce only asks for 3 days pre-op diet of liquids and yogurt.. I'm noticing there are SO many variations between what different doctors require!! I'm just gonna do what he asked for but have definitely scaled down my daily inhalation of high calorie low nutrient foods LOL for the most part I'm already sticking with high Protein low carb and lots of water' date=' trying to condition myself to it too :P I'm also trying to sllllllllllllllllow down how fast I eat and then really paying attention to when I don't feel hungry anymore. I've noticed there's a big difference for me between 'feeling full' vs. 'not feeling hungry'.[/quote']

I can do relate!! I have issues with my band, so what I can even eat is terribly limited-I'm lookin fwd to being able to eat a little something & not 'slime' afterwards!! Our countdown is on girl!! I'm gettin way excited! I hope I pack the right things-I'm a total overpacker-gonna try & keep it minimal....

  6. oh yeah DUH you and I will both be at the Lucerna!!! I spaced it hahaha we DEFINITELY have to meet up and practice sipping together at some point hahaha

Most def!!! Can't wait to meet ya!! Have u started a preop diet yet? My Dr wants just 10 days, but I'm starting tomorrow to condition myself

  7. Wow!! I just wanted to take a moment now that I'm officially on the losers bench to share my experience with Dr Aceves and his staff.... Wonderful is the only word I can find!! The entire experience felt like going to a spa!!

From beginning to end it was quick efficient and organized. From emails and phone calls with the coordinator Nina to the driver Ramon!

I was always escorted everywhere ... Anything my friend that went with me needed was seen to... Like she wanted her teeth cleaned... Yolanda... Ninas mom set it up!! The doctors come in three times a day! The housekeepers clean constantly and clean your room three times a day!

Almater hospital is a small efficient private clean hospital filled with really nice nurses and every staff that even passed me in the hallways always smiled and greeted me warmly!

I have been in USA hospitals as a nurse for 32 yrs and know good care.... This was a fabulous experience!

I highly recommend Dr Aceves !

The lucerna hotel we stayed at the night before surgery was so beautiful! And excellent service!

Congrats Moonrisen! I have surgery on 8/14 with Dr. Verboonen-I too will b stayin @ La Lucerna...its comforting to kno ur opinion of this whole adventure is positive!! It will make these last 3 nervous wks-not so nervous :)

  8. yep!! I will be at INT hospital for 2 days and then at Lucerna also! cool' date=' we should meet up and practice our sipping and walking hahaha[/quote']

Lol-most def!! We should b @ the hotel @ the same time-how many days u stayin there? I'm there for 2...we can have hallway races-look like a cpl of turtles splinting out tummies tryin to walk the halls

  9. definitely!! what doctor/hospital will you be at? I'm not nervous yet but so excited!! what I'm nervous about now is the huge lifestyle change that will follow.. oh and the pre-op diet scares me LOL

I'm having my procedure done @ the Obesity Good-bye Center by Dr. Verboonen-will b there for 2 days & the other 2 days I'll b @ La Lucerna. Did I read on another post u will b there also?! If so, we can walk together :)
