  1. Good luck! In my case I couldn't swallow anything until 24 hours post op after a leak test. There was nothing about swallowing saliva. I had no problems tolerating the fluids required the day after surgery.

I can drink pretty fast without issue today. I'm more than 2 months postop. If I try to drink too fast, I will have some pain. Like everything else, YMMV.

So yeah I am freaking out right now!!!! Excited/ Nervous/ last minute reserves if I am making the right decision..... I have seen other people share these same feeling so I know it is just pre sleeve nerves!!! I have probably a totally stupid question so I am just gonna say it, After surgery is it hard to swallow saliva? I am probably just thinking crazy but I was just curious! I am down 16 pounds in just 13 days doing my doc's pre-op diet!! I am pretty impressed with my self!!! So here is to finally getting on the losers bench!!! Say a prayer for me all you prayer warriors!! Surgery is at 0930am!!! See you all on the losers bench!!! Will try to post tomorrow night to update you all :o)

  2. It sucks! I've always had full breasts and now...its like they keep reaching for the floor! Went and got sized for new bras and I'm only an inch smaller in band and still same size cup DD . So what gives lol

I felt so bad for this lady. Kudos for her and doctor on publishing this to Youtube. Yes there is a full nudity and full surgical gore, but it's done for educational purposes.

I'm sure I will need some plastic surgery, but hopefully not near as much as she needs. So far everything is still firm except my gut. I have another 100 pounds to go.

  3. Just focus on hitting your goals in terms of nutrition, exercise, and Water intake. Take one day at a time. Keep a tape measure handy. You are probably dropping inches and not pounds. I stair step myself. A week to 10 days of nothing and then 6 or 8 pounds in a few day. Rinse, repeat, etc, etc.

Anyone have advice for those stuck in a stall? Been struggling up and down with the same ONE POUND for 8 days now....grr- upped my Protein, upped my water, and this last week I've been doing so great with cooking healthy/lean dinners- etc...anyone have any suggestions for what kickstarted them back into losing? Sleeved 2/28- down 30# so far (or 29...depending on the day this week...GRRR)

  4. Healthy Choice frozen Greek yogurt. I just tried the Ben & Jerry's Greek Peanut Butter and banana' date=' too, and it was AMAZING.[/quote']

I'm trying the healthy choice tonight. I saw the Ben & Jerry's at the store today and it had too much sugar and not enough Protein. I noticed the healthy choice varies in Protein content depending on the flavor you buy. Some have 3 grams and some have 6 or 7, weird!

I also picked up some greek yogurt popsicles today. They are 80 calories and 6 grams of protein.

At some point I want to buy an ice cream freezer and make my own frozen greek yogurt. I'll probably be better off that way.

  5. I heard about Questbars from someone... I purchased the chocolate chip cookie dough one from GNC today. It is the PERFECT snack! It does not taste like a Protein bar! The whole bar has 21g protein' date=' 17g Fiber, and 1g sugar....chunks of chocolate...Yummy![/quote']

I like the Quest bars as well. They are real chewy too. The only major downfall is some of them have sugar alcohol in them. That will mess with your stomach(and maybe give you diarrhea) . I try to avoid that stuff as much as possible.

  6. I'm 4 months post-op too! I'm all about the string cheese! I use the Weight Watchers string cheese and it's really good. I've yet to eat fruits because I know the sugar content in them are really high. Sometimes I have some Chobani Greek yogurt which is the best.

I absolutely love the Weight Watchers smoked mozzarella sticks. The jalapeño ones are pretty good too. So much better than a plain old cheese stick.

  7. I've been flavoring my own plain Greek yogurt for years now. I have a local spice shop and there are a few that seem to go over well in our house. I'd suggest using whatever sweetener you use and the following to taste.

pumpkin pie spice with a hint of vanilla

    Apple pie spice + vanilla

Chai spice with vanilla or sometimes I've used almost extract

    Lemon and lime zest

Those all sound good, I'll have to try them. The Chai sounds very yummy.

  8. I was sleeved 2/25. No leak test. No hospital stay. No drain. No pain meds. Clear Liquids for 7 days and then onto thick liquids. I dry heaved with every sip for first two days but here I am on day 4 doing great. Been walking in yard. Went to salon had hair fixed. Going shopping tomorrow. I've lost 15 lbs since surgery. Woohoo! Rocking this sleeve baby.

I got by with no pain meds either. I'm glad I didn't take them, but a little disappointed that I couldn't listen to my Pink Floyd records while being comfortably numb. Oh well!

  9. Me too! It's really frustrating. However I did discover the other day that I xan get beef Jerky down without issue and thank god because I need some energy!

I like the jerky too. It's nice to keep at my desk to insure that I get the Protein power ups the doctor wants in the morning and afternoon. There are times when I'm on the phone for 3 or more hours straight and can't grab something to eat from the fridge.

  10. I'm a Valentines day sleever. It's my two month surgiversary. I'm down 55 from the date of surgery and 72 from the start of my preop diet (10 weeks ago) . Yeah it's a lot, but when start at 397 the weight loss is much faster due the amount of calories required to maintain that weight.

I work out a minimum of 30 minutes per day everyday, but most days are between 60 and 80 minutes.

As far as food goes I'm eating around 800 to 900 calories with at least 90 grams of Protein (I'll burn about 500 - 600 off at the gym). No problems tolerating anything. No vomiting ever after surgery. I'm drinking plenty, I'll typically stop counting after I hit 64 oz in the early afternoon. I'm guessing that I'm drinking at least 100 oz a day.

Everything is just peachy and way easier than I expected. My body still looks pretty good, but I will probably need plastic surgery on my stomach. It's the only place that I'm concerned with at this time. I have about 100 more pounds to drop before I hit my goal. I hope to be there by fall, I know things will slow down with the weight going away.

  11. Yum - I need to try that. Thanks for sharing:) I'm born and raised in the St. Louis area (still here on the Illinois side). Do you still live there?

Nope. I'm a Texan now! :-) And loving every minute of it! I grew up in Sparta, IL, lived in Belleville, IL and Maryland Heights, MO. My wife and I left Maryland Heights in 2003.

  12. I'm a relatively young Three Stooges fan at age 38. Born and raised in the Saint Louis area (home of Joe Besser). The local WB affiliate used to play 3 Stooges every Friday night from 11 to 1:30 in the morning. My parents had a VCR and that baby was recording them every Friday night. I own a complete collection of the Three Stooges shorts and movies now.

  13. I tried something interesting that tasted very good today. I normally buy plain greek yogurt and put in a little vanilla and splenda to sweeten it (I can't for the life of me find greek yogurt without sugar sweetner). I dumped a little cinnamon in there this time along with the usual vanilla and splenda. It tastes awesome! I'm surprised the yogurt makers don't have this as an offering. It rocks!

  14. Make sure you hit all of your marks in terms of nutrition, Water intake, and exercise. Also, when you stall or gain a few pounds pay close attention to your measurements. You will probably find yourself losing inches and not pounds. When your body resizes the weight loss is put on hold. As long as you remain focused on your goals, you will lose either inches or weight. Not always both at the same time.

  15. I'm a T1 with a pump. I can tell you that my basals have dropped several times since my preop diet started. What I've found that works well is running a temporary basal of 90% after I've struggled to maintain a good blood sugar for a few days. Once that works out, then reprogram a new rate for 10% less.

My boluses are down, and TDD is down a lot. I was at a TDD of 150-160 units a day and now I'm 40 or 45. This is over the course of a little more than 2months. I started my preop on 1/31 and got my surgery on 2/14.

  16. Ok' date=' this has probably already old news, but if you have NOT tried these, you MUST!!! Made me soooooooo HAPPY today!!! (Yes, I know.... I have serious issues with food making me happy...but at least this is a good choice!)[/quote']

Walmart also sells an extra low fat (75% fat free, I think) cheddar made by Cabot that's excellent. It's 60 calories an oz with lots of Protein.< /p>

My wife likes those. I can take them or leave them. My vice is the little baby bell light cheese that's in a white wrapper and dipped in red wax. They are kind of pricey in the store, but costco sells them cheap.

  18. Question for those who are working out.

I am starting at the gym (my loss is slow so I'm ready to get it going) and doing weights and cardio now.

When can we start doing abs and things of that nature? I did an ab machine...I did 5 and 3 sets each and it was fine. I started out slow and didn't use weights yet and it seemed good and no pain. I am 5 weeks out tomorrow. It felt so good to get in and work out hard(felt like a hard work out since I haven't been in a long time).

I'm 5 weeks postoperative. The PA said to do whatever I want in terms of working out. She said at this point there's nothing I can do that will damage my sleeve.
