    Something Interesting

I don't measure it, but it's just a tiny amount. Maybe a quarter teaspoon in 4 oz of yogurt. One or two packets of splenda and however much cinnamon you want.

Nope. I'm a Texan now! :-) And loving every minute of it! I grew up in Sparta, IL, lived in Belleville, IL and Maryland Heights, MO. My wife and I left Maryland Heights in 2003.

    Something Interesting

I'm a relatively young Three Stooges fan at age 38. Born and raised in the Saint Louis area (home of Joe Besser). The local WB affiliate used to play 3 Stooges every Friday night from 11 to 1:30 in the morning. My parents had a VCR and that baby was recording them every Friday night. I own a complete collection of the Three Stooges shorts and movies now.

    Does your weight do this?

Yep. I was roughly the same weight for 7 or 8 days. Then I dropped 3.5 pounds last night.
  5. The cotton mouth thing is absolutely a sign of ketosis. I had it the entire time I was preop and for the first week or two after surgery.

    Gained 4 pounds :(

Make sure you hit all of your marks in terms of nutrition, water intake, and exercise. Also, when you stall or gain a few pounds pay close attention to your measurements. You will probably find yourself losing inches and not pounds. When your body resizes the weight loss is put on hold. As long as you remain focused on your goals, you will lose either inches or weight. Not always both at the same time.

    Good luck!

    Surgery today!

    Good luck!
  9. I'm a T1 with a pump. I can tell you that my basals have dropped several times since my preop diet started. What I've found that works well is running a temporary basal of 90% after I've struggled to maintain a good blood sugar for a few days. Once that works out, then reprogram a new rate for 10% less. My boluses are down, and TDD is down a lot. I was at a TDD of 150-160 units a day and now I'm 40 or 45. This is over the course of a little more than 2months. I started my preop on 1/31 and got my surgery on 2/14.
  10. I'm 5 weeks postoperative. The PA said to do whatever I want in terms of working out. She said at this point there's nothing I can do that will damage my sleeve.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

So far so good. I was sleeved on Valentines. 397 on Jan 31 when the preop diet started. 338 this morning. I started eating solids on Thursday. I'm tolerating them well, but I'm really piling on the hot sauce. I've always loved spicy food, but I love it even spicier now. Very strange. I feel like I can almost take a drink of Tabasco straight.
  12. I'm below 350 for the first time in about 3 years. The last diet I was on took me from 430 to about 345. That was a 7 month diet. I never could go lower than 345 (even though I was working out 90 minutes a day) and became discouraged. I started my sleeve journey at 397 on 1/31. I'm 349 on 3/9 and I haven't even been cleared for strenuous work outs yet! Life is good! I can't wait to start kicking some ass in the gym!
  13. Same here. I stalled for almost one full week. I'm in week 3. It looks like I'm coming out of it. I dropped 3 lbs this morning.
  14. Same here I can easily drink 96+ oz per day. That's what I had in water alone yesterday.
  15. I think the main reason for restricting caffeine is dehydration. It is a big deal initially after surgery, but not that big of a deal later on.
  16. I have it pretty easy dress code wise. Business causal on Tues and Thurs, I work from home on Mon and Wed (I could work in my undies if I wanted), and since this is Texas we get blue jeans on Friday. Today is my first day back on the job.
  17. Sweet! I put on a pair 3 sizes smaller than my preop jeans and walked around the zoo all day with my wife and kids. I feel great!
  18. I was a 170-200 unit a day "double diabetic" now I'm using less than 50. No more metformin either.

How long did you take off work?

Heading back Monday 2/25 after surgery on 2/14. I could have made it back sooner, but I was pretty weak from a week long clear liquid diet.
  20. Your experience sounds very much like mine. That weight gain from you hospital stay will quickly go away. I dropped 6 pounds over night the first night I was back home. They were pumping me with fluids until the very end. My IV came out and I was out the door literally about 5 minutes afterwards.
