  1. You may want to find out if the BMI has to be at the first appt or right before surgery. Many drs make you loose 5% prior to surgery which can put you under again.
  2. Hi Rachel we are the same height and almost the same weight. I'm hoping for a mid September surgery date. Have you done any pre dieting? I was just told to loose 12 lbs but have only lost 5. Haven't been put on any pre surgery diets yet but I may start a liquid one on my own. Hope to hear about how your surgery goes as we are almost in the same "boat".
  3. Hi Lisa! I'm also 39 and just waiting for insurance clearance. I've been heavy all my life with a couple of slim years here and there for my wedding and tenth class reunion. Best of luck with your surgery and your new life! My BFF and I are planning a 40 th birthday trip to Vegas next summer to celebrate out birthdays first, our twenty plus years of friendship and I will be celebrating the new me! Keep I touch. I can't find a friends list otherwise I would of sent you a request. -Nancy J
  4. My mom is also very opinionated and controlling. She runs away with everything, planning my wedding, toys and clothes for the kids... I am pretty sure I will tell her pre surgery but I want a date in hand so she knows I'm serious and it's not just a spur of the moment thing. Not looking forward to telling her at all but as many of you said, its my life. Just because she gave me life doesnt mean she gets to run it. Not too long after I got married she showed up unannounced at my house (she lives over an hour away so it only happened once) and she saw our motorcycles in the driveway. I get the phone call "since when do you have a motorcycle?" I simply said, since I am married, have my own home, have a job and pay my own bills. That was the end of that. I will have to put the same big girl panties on and just put it out there. Thanks again all.
  5. I feel like a big baby but I'm afraid to tell my mommy. I am totally into getting sleeved but I'm afraid that she is going to be dissapointed and/or try and talk me out of it. She has weight problems too and doesn't want to consider surgery. She won't even look into getting her knees done. I am 39 years old and I want to be able to go outside and play with my kids and fit on the roller coasters next summer. Should I tell her now or wait till afterward? She knows how to lay on a mean guilt trip. My sister is having some other medical issues and she won't tell our mother either and I know my mom is hurt by this. Any advice would be appreciated.
  6. I'm going through the exact same emotions. I so want to get it done and then I think, OMG this is a huge for the rest of my life thing do I really want to do it? Yes I do! So relieved that there are people out there going through the same stuff. I just think of my kids, and being able to do more with them and being able to fit in seat on the roller coasters and I know this is the right thing for me. I am sure these thoughts will continue but I know this is right for me.
  7. I think it has to be officially documented in some way.
  8. Have you ever done Weight Watchers? My insurance accepted 6 months of continuous weigh ins from WW. Mine were almost a year old too. Good luck. Insurance companies are such a joke. Mine will cover weight loss surgery but not a nutritionist to avoid the surgery. shesh!
  9. Hi. May be a silly question but how do you do the egg whites? Do you hard boil the egg then just eat the whites? And, does the type of grapefruit matter? Thanks. -Nancy J
  10. Please share what pre-op diet you followed to get such great results. That's fantastic!
