    Anyone Bigger Than Me ?

Have you been to a therapist? You need to address this issue before the surgery. Surgery is not a a cure all. It is a tool that you have to learn how to use correctly or you are setting your self up for failure. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

I so hope I don't have to do the pre-op liquid diet. I meet with surgeon on Thursday so I will find out then. I'm down 6 of the twelve he wants. Really have to buckle down this week and loose the next 6. Surgery sept 25.

So annoyed right now! I begged my husband not to work on my school holiday, sept 17 & 18 because I was hoping for surgery one of those days. Got Sept. 25 instead. Just got a call from surgeons off that they have an opening on the 17 th! Yea! But now hubby is rolling his eyes at me because he is scheduled to work on those two days! If he would of just listened to me, this wouldnt be an issue. Really considering pushing the issue because it would give an extra 9 days to heal before going to Disney in November.

    Just Decided To Do This

My bcbs pop required 6 months of continious recorded weight loss attempts. I was able to submit my ww records from six months ago. Big sigh of relief on my end! Thing that made me laugh the most was they cover wls but they don't cover a nutritionist to potentially help you avoid the surgery. Insurance companies make absolutely no sense sometimes. Best of luck. I totally understand where you are coming from on the impatience end. Good luck and welcome to the board!

    Feeling Humiliated....

I would go to the health center and talk to a medical person about it. Or go to the professor and tell him/her that you have back problems and need a chair with a straight back and there is no way you can concentrate in your current seat.

Let me guess, he doesn't have a weight problem! Neither does the insurance lady in my office. I would call on a Friday and not have my call returned. You think they would be used to working with anxious women who struggle with the decision to even do it and once the decision is made, want it done NOW! lol Keep us posted!

    Hi And Info Please?

Oh I hear you there. Been thinking about it for a few years and now that I finally decided to do it, I just want it done! Decided at the end of June, surgery Sept 25. Only reason it's not sooner because my surgeon is all booked up!

    Excited... Nervous

Welcome Peggylou! You have come to the right place to ask about these emotions. Look around, there are many of us not sure if we should tell others. I, myself, am scared to death to tell my mom. I just 'came out' to my sister and she was very supportive which was a relief. My mom has been overweight as long as I can remember and won't consider it for herself, so not sure how she will handle her daughter getting it done. I'm 39 years old and don't want to tell my mommy! Lol. But I know if I don't tell her and she finds out later, she will be extremely hurt. What it comes down to is, tell everyone, no one or a select few. It's your business. No one else's. I just saw an episode of "Say Yes To The Dress" and the bride lost 115 lbs since the dress was ordered. There is no way she did it without wls in the 8 months it takes to order a wedding dress. But it wasn't stated so it's her secrete. I am a teacher and am in 3 different schools. In my one school I am only going to tell the nurse just in case of emergency. Most of the teachers there are all skinny minis and couldn't relate. In my second school I am sharing more because the art teacher had the lap band done in November and the reading teacher had the sleeve at the end of June. She announced it to everyone because she will be a lot thinner at the start of the school year and she rather not be fuel for the gossips. My third school I am just telling a few that I know that also had wls just for someone to talk to. Best of luck deciding what is best for you. Not easy, I know but definately not a reason to not get yourself the help you need in getting yourself healthier. Keep posted on your journey!

    Any September People

I'm not till Sept 25th. Hate how busy my Dr is that Sept 25 is the earliest open date! I haven't been put on any liquid diets yet but I decided to try a modified one to get me started. Protein shakes and water all day and sensible dinner. What a b***h I've become until dinner time! Headaches and omg I'm moody! How do you get around this? Going back to teaching in a few days until my surgery date. I can't be a b***h to my students. My 3 and 5 year olds are driving me nuts! Any advice?
  13. Just got my surgery date of September 25th. I am going on a weeks vacation to Disney November 3rd. Am I nuts? Plane tickets are bought and paid for so trip can't be canceled. Don't want to push off the surgery either. Need any and all advice I can get about traveling so soon after surgery. Dr. already gave me okay to go. And ride the rides! We have a suite with a fridge and microwave so we are already planning on having food delivered from a local grocery store so we can have snacks for the kids, milk and water on hand in the room. I will probably bring protein shakes or whatever else I think I will need in that aspect in my luggage. Thanks all in advance for your advice!

    Proof Of Diet

I hate to tell you but I don't think online will count. Maybe if you rejoin for a month and are able to download and print out your journal. You need to have 6 months worth of continuous weigh ins. I went to meetings and showed my weight tracker from meetings. Good Luck.

    Tall Sleevers? 6'?

I love some of descriptions on here! Sassypants, you are a trip! I am a musician too. I play baritone saxophone in a local community band. Use to be assistant conductor but new head conductor doesn't use me anymore. Also teach elementary music lessons. My conducting there is just being a human metronome! Lol

    Primary Doctor

I was scared about going to see my pcp too. Last time I spoke to her about difficulty loosing weight, she suggested a nutritionist. (which isn't covered by my insurance but wls is, go figure). But she was really cool about it. Her letter was actually the last thing I needed before submitting to insurance. Just go armed with your reasons for wanting it and why. You may be surprised. Good luck!

Excellent! Best of luck to you too. What do you have to accomplish between now and then? I have to attend a meeting with the bariatric team (have to miss the second day of school for it!) Meet with the anesthesiologist and meet with my own surgeon again. There may be more but I'm not sure yet. Did the egd a few weeks ago.

So how's the pain? Why so long in hospital? My dr says I will only be in overnight. Can't wait to hear more about your journey.
