I did not tell anyone except my husband and my sister, who lives in another state. It has to be speculation. The new co worker said she has seen me eat and there is no way I could've had a bypass and eat that much (I know tricks for making it look like I've eaten alot). I told her she was right...I DID NOT have a bypass. LOL!!

Sounds like you have identified who you need to avoid!

I've had the same problem. I choose not to let her drag me down to her level. Since then I've become more open about it. I did this for me, not for them. So let them talk. You are beautiful. Show them that talking crap behind your back only means that you mean so much to them you are always on their mind. Pure jealousy... chin up. Dont sweat them small crap.

Don't waste your time or emotional resources on bottom feeders and concern about what they say and do.
Enjoy your life with those who have the intelligence and maturity to accept, appreciate and enjoy you.

I am a teacher. I returned to work 42 lbs down 5 weeks out. Most people were happy for me and my loss but 2 are real nosey and asking major questions. One bad the audacity to send me an email asking me what did I do and was I on crack... Mind you I only went from a 26 to a 24... Not a huge difference and no new clothes.... People are too funny! Ugg!

Since losing from a size 20/22 to an 8/10, overweight 'friends' treat me differently more than anyone else. I didn't tell coworkers about WLS, and some have asked me directly. I always say I eat a low carb diet with small portions and exercise. I did tell church members. One church 'friend' said "I want to lose weight, but I don't want have to do it like you did." Honestly, people should just chill...

It's so sad that some people can't just be simply happy for someone because they've accomplished something. They have to find criticism in it because it helps to justify their own feelings of low self-worth.
I don't hide it from anyone. If people ask, I tell them the truth. I have before and after pictures up at my desk for all to see. There are still a few people who don't know I had surgery but can obviously tell I've lost a lot of weight. They ask me what my secret is and I always tell them "Good insurance". Haha.
I know it's easier said than done but try not to pay too much attention to the nay-sayers. Like I said, they do it because it makes them feel a tiny bit better about themselves. Much like bullies. You did this for yourself and you should be SO proud of your success. Don't let the small minds of insignificant people put a damper on that.
Keep up the great work!!!! We all support you here!

I am a teacher - and they can be the best support group in the world - and the most critical! I told my team I was having the surgery this summer - and they are 100% supportive. There are also others who were not so supportive - calling it a crutch, easy way out, etc.... We had an aid that lost 100 pounds over 2 years, they all got together and gave her a $100 gift certificate for new clothes....I have a feeling that won't be the case for me
I just remind myself that I did it for me and my family - not anyone else

Thank you for the encouragement and much-needed pep talk. I am much smaller now, so I SHOULD be happy! I would love to see "normal" one day, so I WILL redouble efforts and get back to basics. :-)

On the positive side, you are only 13 lbs away! Aside from not reaching a magic number, (of which BMI is a range and not always 100% correct) how do you feel? How do you feel you look in your clothes? There are people in my support group who have had bypass that look downright gaunt and unhealthy. I would not want to be there. There are others who have stretched their stomas (correct spelling) and are gaining their weight back. The grass is not always greener...even though it may seem that way sometimes. Your signature has a great line that says :"The best goals reached are the ones hardest earned" If your goal is to lose those last 13 pounds, then go back and redouble your efforts and you will get there! Look at what you are eating, how much you are exercising etc and see if you need to shake things up a bit. I hope this is coming across more as a pep talk than a lecture. You didn't ask for advice, only stated your opinion to the question. I just hate to see you so disappointed when you are so close!

When I'm eating solid lean meats (Protein first) and veggies, and perhaps a bite or two of carbs it comes out to about 3/4 of 1 Cup of food or .75 Cup. When I'm eating junk, I am a bottomless pit! This is also true for soft foods, such as eggs, oatmeal or yogurts - I can certainly fit in more food. I can easily eat the equivalent of 2 eggs and a few pieces of bacon, but not much more than that.
