  1. Are you on a PPI like Prevacid or Prilosec? I know it might feel like hunger but it almost certainly is acid. It seems to start around week 3 post -op ( at least from the posts I've read here). I thought I was hungry too but it really was acid.....
  2. I'm not trying to down play that he shouldn't be eating solids but scaring the guy to death is a little over the top in my opinion. RxKid....Don't eat that stuff anymore!! If you don't have anything mushy or liquidity just stick with Protein shakes until blizzard is over!
  3. Hi....3 week post-op stall in normal. Sometimes it's at 2weeks, sometimes at 4. Just type in 3 week post op stall and you'll pull up a TON of info and posts. Also, 17 pounds the first 2 weeks is a LOT. Your body is probably saying "what the $%#!" and needs time to adjust.
  4. Hey Liz, No problems with my MS or Lupus at all. I was concerned about my meds too -- I take a lot and wasn't sure how I would be able to swallow all my pills. Turns out I was worried for nothing -- I've had zero issues with being able to drink or swallow my pills. A few hours after surgery I was sipping Water without issue and then progressed being able to drink normally ( no guzzling of course) the next day. The only "problem" is how to fit all the do's and don'ts in --- must not take Calcium within 2 hours of multi-Vitamin, must not take PPI or antacid within 4 hours of taking my Synthroid....the Multivitamin makes me nauseous so I have to time that as well. I really need a spreadsheet to keep track! .
  5. Cartman....hmmmm, South Park fan?
  6. I'm so jealous! It was 75 degrees here today, which just pisses me off Hello, it is WINTER!!!!
  7. WOW! That is incredible! Please fill us in on your daily menus -- how many carbs, calories?? Congratulations!
  8. I hope for YOU it gets better! But for me, I hope it lasts FOREVER! I'll take the reprieve from hot flash misery and astronomical electricity bills!
  9. If I could, I'd eat ice cream all freakin day. Uh, that and fried chicken! LOL....
  10. Perfectly normal! I had no problems with liquids at all. I was drinking almost normally by the evening after my surgery. And shakes were not a problem at all. I started feeling restriction when I started eating things like Cream of Wheat and oatmeal on the second week. When I finally got to more solid food the restriction kicked in big time. With dense Protein I can only eat a few bites before feeling like I swallowed a brick.... So don't worry- everything is good! Dana
  11. Everything KitKat said.......DITTO FOR ME!
  12. There is a gel NSAID called Voltaren....you rub it in the area that hurts. Officially it is for joints -- but I was desperate last week because I was in excruciating pain ( low low back/buttock). My brother has a prescription for Voltaren and he gave me his tube. Well, let me tell you, within 30 minutes my pain was so much better. It does still have GI risks but I'm assuming not to the degree as taking it orally. I plan on discussing with my doc and getting an Rx for it ( if it is safe).
  13. I mix all of mine with Hood Calorie Countdown milk ( it's low carb too) with 4 or 5 ice cubes. I throw it in my little personal blender and it comes out great. Sometimes I pop a couple of tablespoons of cottage cheese in the freezer to get it hard then throw that in -- makes it really creamy. The chocolate Truffle is my "favorite" favorite!
  14. Uh, I got the impression that she was DONE with posting on VST .... not sure if we'll ever know. Maybe she is still reading the thread and will give us an update....
  15. My favorites are nectar chocolate Truffle Nectar vanilla Bean Torte Delicious!
  16. OMG!! 72 lbs! You must be walking on cloud nine. Congratulations!
  17. Do you have trouble with protein shakes? I make one every morning -- it takes literally 1-2 minutes - and it's delicious. I get 30 grams of protein right off the bat! If I start with a shake I can get to my goal of 70 grams really easily. I also get uncomfortable with almost all dense protein, although a baked piece of softer fish goes down pretty easily. I can also handle scrambled egg whites really well -- low low calories and lots of protein. Most everything else that is not on the soft side feels like I swallowed a brick within 2 bites.... and yes, it does take the joy out of eating... which for me, might not be a bad thing! ~Dana
  18. Congratulations! 19 lbs is awesome!
  19. Oh how I can relate! Surgery was 12/21 and down 20 lbs. I was hoping for me. In the last few weeks the acid problem has gotten much worse for me. I've been on Prilosec 2x day the entire time but it does not seem to be doing the job anymore. Also, I was getting nauseous a lot and couldn't figure out why. I missed my Vitamins a couple of days in a row and guess what? No nausea. I now cut the pill in half and take it in two doses....the evening and right before bed. It does seem to have helped. Lets keep the faith! ~Dana
  20. I know, I've GOT to find a way to get more water down my throat.... When my brother asked me, so how much weight have you lost?, I lied and said 25 lbs.... I had told him 20 lbs 2 weeks ago and I was too embarrassed to tell him I had not lost anything in almost 2 weeks. Oh what a tangled web we weave.... LOL...
  21. Thanks for all the support....I knew getting a reality check from ya'll would help! I do need to up my Water...this is so hard for me.... I'm averaging probably 36oz a day and that is with effort.....
  22. Ok, so I'm a slow loser. Not a surprise. The doc and nutritionist told me that would be the case up front. ( various medical issues, medications). I've lost right about 20 lbs in almost 6 weeks. Deep down I was hoping for some sort of sleeve magic and I would lose more. But ok, so it panned out just like they said... Superbowl Sunday comes around.... I had a Protein shake for Breakfast and we head out to my brother's house to watch the game with a few people. Jay, my husband, had barbecued ribs (his specialty and one of my favorites) and brought them with us. This is what I ate or attempted to eat *1 pork rib ( my first since surgery) *2 or 3 few crackers with a little dip *2 tablespoons artichoke casserole ( only able to take a few bites) *1 piece of King Cake ( a traditional Mardi Gras thing -- we're in the middle of Mardi Gras here in New Orleans . It is something like say a cinnamon roll with icing). I had another rib and a few spoons of artichoke casserole when we got home later that evening. Well, guess what? Got on the scale 2 days later and I had gained 3lbs. WHAT??? My head tells me that scientifically that cannot be possible. Yes, I ate more calories than I normally would but it probably came out to about 1500 calories. Yes, I overate but I did not go crazy with it. Of course I know it takes 3500 calories over maintenance levels to add a pound. The scale today says I gained two pounds. So maybe the 1 lb was Fluid. Maybe it's all fluid ( I'm doubting it because I am on a diuretic for blood pressure). Anyway, just really down. Down about not losing more, down about gaining from a mild variation from 800 calories a day..... and now wondering if I'm just freaking doomed. Doomsday Dana is gearing up....... Oh and by the way, I'm open book-- it's just my personality. I've told all my friends and family about the surgery. Well, now I feel like I'm on display --everybody is checking me out to see if I've lost any weight. It's like, not only do I have to deal with my own disappointment at not losing more but now I feel embarrassed because I know everyone else is thinking, Damn - she can't even lose weight with 85% of her stomach cut out..... Of course, no one actually says that but I guarantee you that they're thinking something similar.
