  1. Your wife is right. You look great. And I don't see any little old man in the pic that you posted. Keep up the good work!

This morning I weigh 99.8 pounds less than I did before I started my journey (roughly 1 year ago, with surgery in October 2012). I wasnt' going to post until it was an even 100. But I thought, .2 lbs...really? You're going to let that stop you from celebrating this milestone? No way! I wish I had this surgery 10 years ago. I feel fabulous, both physically and mentally. I still make mistakes and continue to learn. I'm able to stick to plan 95% of the time. For those who are riding the fence, I can tell you that this is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. I know it will be a lifelong journey battling my issues with weight, but I finally feel like it's a fair fight.
  3. Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry to hear about your leak. My surgeon told me if i didn't get a leak within the first few weeks, I wouldn't get one. I'm going to let him know about your case so he doesn't tell patients that it won't happen several months out. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  4. I'm so glad I had VSG in Oct 2012. I feel 100 times better than I did a year ago at this time, mentally and physcially. I had my surgery in the states, but I have traveled to Mexico many times for vacations and have never had any trouble there. Best of luck to you for a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing you on the losers bench!
  5. I had a couple glasses of wine about 6 weeks out. I've had a couple more in the last 7 months. I try to avoid it because of the empty calories and it always causes me to stall.
  6. At 8 months out, I wished I experienced dumping syndrome. I'm guessing once you are a little further out, you'll wish you had it too. Without it, it's easy to eat the things that got us to the point of needing surgery.
  7. The last time I flew and didn't need one. I'm 5'7" and weighed 280 and still had room with my seat belt (probably a couple inches). I think you will be fine.
  8. I'm eating some of this right now for mid morning snack! It's actually really good.
  9. I can very much relate to your story. The good news is before you know it...you'll be shrinking into that girl you were meant to always be. Best of luck
  10. Sometimes things do just happen...no fault of anyone. I'm sorry this has happened to you and I hope your leak heals quickly. I'll be thinking of you and hoping things improve very soon.
  11. I just had mine on Wednesday. I had to fill out 4 questionaires, which took about 30 minutes. Meeting with the Dr. was about 20 minutes. My appt was scheduled for 2 hrs 20 minutes...but only took about 50 minutes total. It wasn't stressful. They're just looking for signs of any addictions and if you understand the changes you'll be going through. I was nervous before it, but it was low key. Good luck!
  12. Congrats! Can you share who your insurance is with? I still have 3 months left of the "diet" for my insurance policy.
  13. I was hoping there was someone out there who didn't experience hair loss. I know it will probably happen to me, but at least this gives me hope.
  14. Is there anyone out there who have reached their goal and not had hair loss? I see lots of posts regarding hair loss...but wondering if anyone was able to avoid it?
  15. As of today I weigh 125lb more than I did 22 years ago. On average, that's 5 lbs a year. Unfortunately for me, I gained about 75 of it my first year in college and I've been on the upward spiral ever since. I'm guessing I've gained and lost several hundred pounds in those 22 years...always seeming to have that highest weight number increase. I think I've been denial about my weight. I never thought I'd be a WLS candidate...but here I am. Ready to reclaim life. I remember when I was healthy, active and confident. I miss that girl. I hadn't really heard of the sleeve until I had a back injury. My MRI results read something to the effect..."due to the patients size". WTH? I was in denial. How could I not see I am 125 lbs over weight for all this time? I knew I was over weight...but really? 125lbs? How did it get to this? Regardless of how, I'm taking the steps to get healthy again. I'm 2 months into a 6 month program to learn how to handle the surgery and be successful using the sleeve as a tool. All of you have really given me insight to myself. Funny how strangers with similar stories can do that.
