Couple new to the whole WLS. Our details, need advice!
Ljp replied to TandT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My cousin. and I both had the sleeve surgery in Mexico. He weighed almost between 360-400 lbs. and lost 100 lbs. in 3 months...so I wouldnt say that is slow. However, everyone's body is different and how fast they lose weight is different also. What I have seen in this forum is that it seems like those that are 300+ lose quicker. I have lost 93 lbs. (weighed last week) & the 16th will be 9 months. I weighed 244.7 lbs. To lots that may seem slow but Im good with it. I dont hv loose skin hanging anywhere. just need to tone. I had GERD & the doctor warned me that it would probably be worse after surgery.....mine is better. I chose the sleeve due to less complications overall compared to other weight loss surgeries. I had my surgery on Monday July 16, 2012 and started a new job on the very next Monday July 23rd. Everyone is diff and how their body responds. So how long you need to be off could vary. -
First of all it sounds like you hv done wonderful! Congratulations! Have you thought about changing things up? I dont know how many carbs or protein you intake daily but I know what works for me is staking more protein than carbs and keeping my carbs low. I also try to fluctuate my eating a few times a week. Just a thought. You may already be doing it. Good luck!

Gas and reflux post surgery
Ljp replied to Aubrey600's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me that reflux wld be worse after surgery. Its not been worse for me but will act up if I eat spicy food. Are there certain things you are eating or drinking that may trigger this? You may hv to up what you normally take. I wld talk to the doctor about all of this -
Gas X helps and walking helps to get rid of the gas. It will pass. How far out are you?

Regardless of where u had surgery our eating habits wld need to change or we will gain the weight right back. I had my surgery in Mexico and hv changed my eating habits. Not sure why you wld think having it there you wouldn't hv too. The most important thing for success in this surgery is to learn to eat diff. Protein first then veggies. About Your stall... what has worked for me is fluctuating my calories, carbs, protein daily or several times a week. I am over 8 months out and my calorie goal is 1000 (I fluctuate 600-1000 & sometimes over that), carbs (fluctuate 20-60 normally not 60 but I dont freak out if it is that or more every once in awhile) & protein I get as much as I can. Sometimes its 70 or 80 & at times 60. Do you use myfitnesspal app to track your calories, carbs, protein, act? Do yo hv a goal? I realize that everyone's body is diff so what works for me may not work for you. You just hv to experience diff ways and see what works. Dont get discouraged you can do this!
