  1. I am 4 months out. Had Chinese food for the first time (and maybe last time) last night. I don't know if I ate too fast and/or too much or what but this was the first time I have vomited since my surgery. I still feel queasy today. I NEVER want to feel that way again! I had chicken and snow peas. Anyone else have a problem with Chinese food after surgery? I don't know if it was because it was Chinese food or something else. I definitely do not follow the rule of eating slow. I usually only have 2 - 3 ounces of food at a meal but I am finished in about 5 - 10 minutes. I know this isn't good, really the only rule I haven't been following. Not sure if I need to eat sooner because I am "hungry" by the time I start eating and then I rush through it. I also didn't measure it and that I am sure didn't help. Well lesson learned! But thankful that has been the only time I have been sick in four months.
  2. As far as the nutritionist I was there about two weeks ago and there was no nutritionist yet. I am sure they are looking and hopefully have or will shortly have a new one in place. The nurse that I spoke to when I came for my initial appointment last May was there so maybe she is filling in some on the nutrition end of things. I didn't see her, though.
  3. Checking in.....as of 2/14 218 so eight pounds in a month is definitely doable to get to my goal. I just need to start the exercise back up and I will surpass the goal.
  4. Dr. Noyan did my surgery 10/11/12. Everything has gone wonderfully for me. He is such a kind, down-to-earth man. Follow up appointments with him are very encouraging as well. You can tell he really cares about his patients being successful. I would definitely recommend him and the rest of his team. Good luck!

  6. The Healthsmart Chocolite protein bar is really good for me. They have a number of flavors. The peanut butter one is 100 calories, 9 protein 10 fiber and 4 net carbs. I purchase online at Netrition or BJ Bariatrics.
  7. Thank you for this information. I have Aetna and didn't think there was any chance of coverage but this is good to know. I definitely have a panni (still have another 60 pounds to lose) and have had a rash for YEARS now but it is more in my groin area. I wonder if that rash would be considered. It all started when I got so overweight so I know that the weight is/was a factor. Not that I really want to have another surgery but it is something I will consider when the time comes.
  8. I will definitely try these! Thanks for sharing.
  9. Congratulations, you look great. And put a smile on your face, you totally should be very HAPPY AND PROUD of yourself!!!!
  10. will be four months on the 11th. (Surgery 10/11/12)
  11. I have been on a bit of a sugar free instant pudding and fat free cool whip kick. It's nice to have dessert sometimes. Last night I had chocolate with a TB of PB2 added. Most of the time my snack is a cheese stick or some type of meat or other cheese.
  12. Had to get a pair of pants yesterday because the stuff I was wearing looks ridiculous. I am down two pants sizes and down four sizes in tops. I tried on a cute little dress 14/16! (Didn't buy it, but it fit!!!)
  13. mikeross congratulations on the weight loss AND the stopping smoking!!! You are prolonging your life in TWO very important ways!
  14. I confess that I am disappointed I haven't gone down in clothing size more. I confess that I am disappointed that more people haven't said anything to me about losing weight. I confess that I really want to join the gym for zumba and weight training mostly, but am afraid I won't use it enough and it will be a waste of our hard earned money. (We really can't afford $70 a month but I really want to do it - I feel selfish)
  15. I am so, so very excited I have lost 52 pounds as of today. I had my surgery 10/11/12 SW 278 and today 226. I have never in my life lost 50 pounds so this is monumental for me. My husband bought me a cool gadget for my scrapbooking, the Silhouette Cameo, to commemorate the 50 pound loss. At 75 pounds I am getting a tattoo! And at 100 pounds a shopping spree. I feel like I can do anything now! Every day I feel more alive and confident and energetic. I am so blessed. I am so glad that I didn't let anyone else or me talk myself out of getting the sleeve. It was totally worth it!
  16. Congratulations! Awesome job!! Keep it up!
  17. I can so relate to this. It upsets me so much that I didn't deal with things earlier so that my two beautiful daughters didn't have to struggle now. And then I open my mouth and all they hear is, "Blah, blah, blah," and said, "But you had surgery, it's easier for you." It breaks my heart. I hope that I can somehow help them because I know they will be happier being healthier. I confess that I really don't think I will ever be a "normal" weight even though I am losing. I confess that I am afraid my hair will never grow back and I will end up like women I know with half their scalp showing through the few sprigs of hair they have left. I confess that I really don't want to exercise but I know I have to for my metabolism and health's sake. I confess that I am excited to start traveling again! I confess that I really want my husband to lose like 30 - 35 pounds too, so we can both be attractive to each other again.
  18. No cruises but going to Florida in February for a college visit for my daughter and then in April with my husband for our 20th anniversary. Hope to be down 65 to 70 pounds by then! My doctor told me if I don't start exercising again my weight loss is going to slow down because and my metabolism will slow down to stop the body from starving. So I must get the walking back in. Congrats on 47 pounds - we are twinies LOL! I see you are going to hitting Onederland soon. That will be AWESOME, huh?!
  19. Had my three month check up with my doctor yesterday down 49 pounds since surgery 10/11/12. Very, very happy! Now I have to kick my exercise back into gear!
  20. Congratulations to you on regaining your identity and YOUR LIFE! God is good. If you both put God first in your marriage he can and will heal it! So happy for you that you are taking care of yourself. Keep up the great work!
  21. I can't say for sure if it swells or not but I can share my experience. I am three months out. I had rice about a week ago, I measured 1/4 cup and only finished half of it and I was fine, didn't notice anything different about my sleeve. That is the only time I have had rice, though, as once I get my Protein and veggies I just don't have room for it.
  22. Follow what YOUR doctor suggests. My NUT said coffee was fine, not too strong (didn't need to be decaf). I have my 1 1/2 cups in the morning and I mix it with my protein powder and some sugar free flavorings. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Get my yummy coffee and my protein for the morning. In the spring/summer I will probably go back to shakes in the morning, but I so enjoy the hot beverage in the fall/winter.
  23. Most of what I have read is that people noticed between 3 and 9 months the worst of it.
